August 2022

My husband and I liked everything about the accommodation. We were there in August, 2022. The young man on reception was excellent - he also doubled up in the bar. Nothing was a bother for him. The breakfast room and breakfast were excellent. All the staples were available eg cereal (6 choices), yogurt, tea, coffee, toast (3 choices of bread), bacon, scrambled eggs. (Note: the breakfast is included in the tariff). The young girls who were replenishing the food were also excellent. We had a ground floor room which was close to the "red" door which led directly onto the car park, which was incredibly convenient for getting luggage in and out. Our room had a walk-in shower with taps which were clearly marked "hot" and "cold". The location was fantastic - close to the shops and restaurants. The modern RSL is just across the road. (wise to book) We loved the feel of the hotel - in its day, it would have been amazing, but you can still appreciate the original features even today. We had traveled from the Novetel in Darling Harbour (which we liked), but we also liked the coziness and laid-back feel of Hotel Blue. We'll be back!

The size of the room was amazing. We were a family of 5 travelling. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was good quality. The suite was massive and the TV was huge. The breakfast although basic was fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly. Parking was easy. Location was excellent just a quick walk go Katoomba high street. Cafe across the road for good coffee.

The only negative would that the hotel is a bit tired and musty as you enter but I'm sure improvements will be made in time. Maybe a candle or similar could be going during the day.

We really enjoyed our stay here in the Blue Mountains. The room was spacious and the rest of the hotel has a lot of charm & character. It was nice to sit and read a book in the afternoon in the lounge space open to guests. The included continental breakfast was well stocked and good to fuel up on for the big days exploring the area. Also being located directly opposite the local RSL is a definite bonus - can't go wrong for dinner there!

There was no TV remote in our room the first night - which wasn't discovered by us until after the staff went home. No biggie as was supplied the next morning.

The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed and well fitted bathroom. The lounge and bar were very reminiscent of the hotel’s past. It is currently undergoing renovations and I hope it doesn’t lose its character. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and willing to do all they could for their guests. Advice was freely given about restaurants and local sights. Located down the hill from the town centre it is an easy and short walk up - check out Beverley Place murals on the way - to the shops for a browse and restaurants. The hotel is across the road from the RSL. Good included continental breakfast available too.

If you want on-site parking there aren’t many spaces.

Built around 1921, the building has a nice old-world feel (though not in the grandest style). It is in a very good location with restaurants and cafes within 500m and a good RSL across the road. The on/off tourist bus stop is also just across the road. Our ground-floor room was spacious with a lovely comfy bed, a table and two rather upright chairs. There were several common-spaces available along with the breakfast-room. The buffet continental was a good aussi-style with options for gluten and lactose intolerance.

The off-road parking was limited, but there was parking available in the side street. People with mobility issues should note that access to some ground floor rooms involves a few steps. Ensuite was smallish with only a curtain on the shower. The TV was really too small to be view from the bed and the upright chairs were not very comfortable for closer viewing. The complimentary breakfast only offers dripolator coffee although there is excellent coffee to be found across the road.

My sister, my son and his partner, and I booked three rooms at Hotel Blue, and we were all very happy with our accommodation. We really liked the ambiance of this charming 1920s hotel, especially the lovely leadlight windows and the charming sitting room where we enjoyed chatting after dinner around the cozy fireplace. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and the buffet-style breakfast was a welcome bonus. The central location in Lurline Street, close to shops and restaurants, was another definite plus.

Really, there were no negatives - we thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at Hotel Blue, Katoomba.

The reception staff gave us great advice and recommendations. We wanted to go out for a light meal and drink in the early evening. She recommended The Elysian just walking distance round the corner (500m) with a good view of the Jamison Valley at sunset. We loved their cocktails and Tapas style food. The view was great too. This hotel is very comfortable and a great location for town center. You can walk to the station if you have 15 minutes and little luggage.

There were no views from our room but if you need a bed and simple breakfast to go out for the day it's good. Clean rooms and comfortable and value for money.

Hotel Blue provided a good value stay in the Blue Mountains, and I d stay again. The rooms were as described - very clean and comfortable. The included continental breakfast was generous with lots of choice. comfy beds, nice towels and good showers. Reception staff were really helpful There is a nice new RSL next door for dinner and drinks. Within walking distance of some Blue Mountains tourist spots and trails

the shared hotel spaces were quite dated and although there was great spaces for a lounge and bar, the fire was left to burn out so the spaces were under-utilised The location is a little bit away from the main town. It’s a manageable walk to the train station (down hill from/ uphill to), although a bus service is available.

I liked the old antique look of the place. The old fireplaces, the old doors on the rooms. The room itself was comfortable, the bed was cosy. The location was great! A short walk to the local shopping and restaurant area, but also far away enough for it to be very quiet outside. A few good cafes quite close to it helps too!

The shower was extremely temperamental! We could barely have one because as soon as you turned the shower one notch one way it would be scolding hot, and then when you turned it the other way the shower would be cold. Also, another pillow option would be great. I sleep on my back and thick pillows are impossible to do that with. I had to use the cushion as my pillow.

My partner and I really liked staying here. The facilities were clean and had country charm. Staff were friendly and helpful. In particular one of the staff Ella went out of her way to accommodate our cooking requests and made us feel really welcome. We would be happy to return here in future.

Parking was a bit busy at times and if you drove into the car park and it was full it was difficult to reverse back out again as there were no turning spaces available. The facility had no lift so one had to carry the luggage up a staircase, but this wasn't a problem as we were able to do it.
