Kalken Hotel by MH

I worried that since we were a late booking, the place would be subpar, but it was lovely. Location is about a block off the main drag, so it was best of both worlds: walking distance to restaurants, shops and bars, but quieter for being on a residential street. The room was spacious and clean with a cozy table and chairs in a bay window. And breakfast, included, offered a nice selection of hot and cold items and freshly baked pastries, including medialunas. Otto at the front desk is a charming multilingual hospitality pro who also contributed to a relaxed stay.

Clean and spacious room, great staff, great breakfast selection. Nice backyard seating area for having a drink. Bed was large and extremely comfortable. Very close to the main street/shops/restaurants. Excellent hotel to stay if you're thinking of traveling to El Calafate!

It is easy to hear noise from neighbours in the hallway and next door room.

Couldn't understand the reviews giving this hotel super low scores. Our stay was great. Considering the value, the location, included breakfast, we couldn't fault it. Some of the equipment felt like they could do with an update but that's quite trivial. Even the set dinner was good value.

Kalken Hotel Calafate is a middle of the road kind of hotel. It doesn't have any luxuries and it's not fancy but rather outdated but it's OK, very clean and fine for a 3/4 day stay. You will spend just the nights there anyway so it's perfectly fine. The best features of the hotel are the location (within walking distance of the city centre) and the staff, which is very friendly and willing to help or even chat with you. Breakfast was rather simple but you could ask for seconds. I would stay there again for sure.

The bed was a bit rickety and noisy and the pillows need changing. I had a migraine two mornings in a row from the bad pillows unfortunately. They need to renew, I think.

Pretty decent hotel, perfectly located right next to the main street. Not the newest one but well maintained. Clean, bright and warm rooms with enough space. Regular continental breakfast, friendly staff.

We had a free upgrade from “booking” but been confused whether the room actually matched the one we supposed to have. Would be great to have kettle or coffee-maker within the room.

We had a good-sized room facing the road with shutters and curtains. Breakfast was great and we really appreciated the secure parking at the rear of the hotel. Staff were lovely. It's a quick walk to the main street and we felt safe walking at night.

The location was PERFECT! The staff was so helpful and friendly. The place was cozy, inviting, and very clean. It had everything we needed. Our room was great. We were so happy we chose the Kalken hotel. Haha we actually said this to each other multiple times during our stay!

Absolutely the best hotel in el Calafate! Just 1 street away from the mainstreet where all the restaurants, bars and booking agencies are located. Breakfast was really good, great variaty. Rooms are very clean and spacious.

Excellent location with a nice park nearby. Staff does not speak much English or French but try very hard to assist you. Breakfast is served fast and friendly! The showers were great...hot water and excellent pressure.

The walls must thin because noise transfers a lot. Also the carpets are in awful shape...that's not a big deal but it does make place look shabby

The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was good. It is well located.

It was a bit noisy but it's not the hotel fault's, it's just that some guests are lousy in the way they close doors or make noise.
