Norfolk Waterside Marriott

When I say this property is beautiful! No exaggeration! It was busy with different events going on in different rooms. There were vendors downstairs near the lobby that you could buy natural soaps, oils, books, hats and more. It was in walking distance to some great restaurants. I also loved the fact that the parking garage is directly across the street and you didn’t have to go outside if you had to go back to your car. There is a indoor walkway that connects the hotel and the parking garage.

The only con that I had was the noisy elevator and the fact that all of the elevators were not operating at the time…but! We met some pretty cool people on the elevator rides lol

Absolutely loved our room and the view! Bed was very comfortable, spacious room, very quiet floor and modern décor. We were able to get an early check in and Caroline upgraded us to a deluxe room which instantly made us feel a vacation "vibe"!

Did not like the leak from the bathroom ceiling. I could tell that the hotel itself needs some TLC. The pool is EPIC, but has some safety concerns with not having proper railings and lights in the pool.

The location was everything, The hallways were dated and there were many spots that needed repair. The staff in the breakfast area where clueless to the point that we left and ate elsewhere. The girl didn't know what a sausage biscuit was which was enough to make me run for my life.

The location is great, we didn’t have to drive more than 3 miles for anything. We rarely heard any neighbors. The parking garage has a walkover so you do not need to cross the street. Issues we had were quickly resolved by staff. We were able to check in early.

We heard boat horns all night which makes complete sense being right on the river. It was not something we had anticipated and is not the fault of the property, however it is something to be mindful of if noise bothers you.

The location is within walking distance to Waterside District, mall, train, restaurants and more. There is also a restaurant, bar etc. on site. I had an issue with the water draining slow in my bathroom. It was fixed immediately. The hotel also has security that patrol the floors 24/7. The bed was comfortable with clean linen.

The floor was sticky in the restaurant. I think someone mopped it with old mop water because it had a smell. Elevator wait was long.

Our view was amazing. The staff especially Ms. Caroline the distinguished black man at the desk were very accommodating. So helpful. The bed was very comfortable and pillows were so fluffy. We loved having a walk in shower. We were impressed with the machines in the gym. Everywhere was so clean.

It wasn’t a big deal the ice machine on our floor wasn’t working, but my husband went to the next floor.

Location, location, location!

I did not like the fact that I could not communicate with the cleaning staff because neither spoke English. It seems like at least one should have been an English speaker. Also, my bathroom counter was a bit dirty and I had to clean it. Room service food was HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE!. Burger was severely burnt, severely! The crab cake sandwich was also horrible.

Cleanliness of the room, staff very friendly and helpful, food was enough for 2 people in 1 serving.

It was my birthday weekend. I came get on the After Dark Party Cruise and I wanted to be close to avoid having to travel so far to aboard the boat. BUT the cruise was cancelled and we we're not made aware of this until after we had made the trip there. Disappointed I was but I made the best of a bad situation.

The view, the ease of check-in, the staff was outstanding especially Iziah and the kitchen staff. The cleanliness, the comfort of beds, etc. The whole check out was amazing. Will stay again. Next hotel experience I've had all year. This is my 4th travel trip for the year. Make sure you request river view!

Breakfast was included for us and it was excellent. The first day I had the buffet and it was good but not warm enough. The second day I selected from the menu and it was better; unfortunately, the restaurant was more crowded and the staff was working hard to keep up with the onslaught of customers.

The view from our room was the building across the street. I found the veranda on the second day and the view of the water and the ships was beautiful. Next time I'll ask for a room facing that view.
