Sentinel, a Provenance Hotel

The hotel is beautiful, the Fortune bar made great drinks and Jake's grill was delicious. The staff were extremely nice and helpful; not a sour face anywhere. The virtual cocierge made communicating our questions and needs much simpler. Really top notch for customer service. The "Room at the end of the hall" was a nice addition.

There were quite a few broken items in our room. In the Bridgetown Parlor Suite, some items that did not work: Jetted tub (dissapointment for me) Electric skylight blinds Nesspresso machine (only coffee machine in the room) Electric Safe Couple cleaning items missed, fake fingernail on the ground, pill in the closet, nothing major but still a little gross (fingernail anyway).

This was our second stay at Sentinel - the first time, we had a bigger room, which was a fantastic oasis during a massive rainstorm. The only major difference in our smaller room was only one lovely chair around the nice table. On our first visit, during Covid, there were many deficiencies, due to staffing levels no doubt, but we liked it so much, we came back - it is just so pretty.

The major appeal of this hotel is visual (vintage, but welcoming), in my opinion - I’d like to see that energy reflected in the front desk service.

Hotel was 5 star from check in to comfort to atmosphere. Beautiful historical and contemporary elegance blended through out. Our original room was small but very lovely in style, comfort and quality. Did have issue with humming noise and floor vibration in our room and believe it was probably due to a boiler room below us. However: without hesitation we were immediately moved to a very quiet room. Although they were unable to give us a room with a king bed as per our original request when we were moved, we were given a huge and very quiet room with two luxurious queen beds. Again, Check out was easy and valet had our car ready for us for our departure. Would very highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel with the long history, centrally located, very comfortable big (but cozy) room with the fireplace (!), big bathroom, huge and comfortable bed. We loved the restaurant onsite and had fund exploring the premises and reading facts about the history, including checking the diary elevator in Portland located inside the hotel building.

We had problems with the valet parking. We requested our car to be ready at 6am, both times it was not there and at the check out we had to wait for 40 min, as the receptionist couldn’t reach the valet guys.. just feel that 50 USD was not worth for this service…

Stayed in one of Sentinel's rooms with a balcony and fire table for our anniversary and it was an amazing stay. The hotel reached out to us via text a few times after booking to ensure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Plus, they reached out to us again during our stay to ask if we needed anything additional while we were here. Upon arrival we were greeted at the front desk with a welcome beer (amazing!) and when we opened our room door, we noticed immediately a bottle of wine and note telling us happy anniversary / compliments of the hotel. And on a whim, I even sent a message to them asking if they possibly had a deck of playing cards.... And they brought one to our door minutes later! My wife and I highly recommend this hotel.

This place is so charming and the service is 5 star all the way. The front desk is also the concierge and even texts you and you can communicate through text anytime instead of calling. Nikki is so gracious and sincere in the way he makes you feel welcome. The restaurant was amazing and reasonable prices for the high quality steak and seafood we ordered. I am super picky and only have one miss for this property which is due to covid, and that is no room service right now.

For this review, I stayed in the King Terrace Suite. Check in: -I requested early check in and was granted that request -While I waited for the room to be cleaned, I was able to park in the valet area and the staff locked up my luggage so my family and I could get some food -Valet parking was fantastic! It’s kind of expensive but being able to pull up in front of the hotel downtown is invaluable. Additionally, you are given the option to have your vehicle kept in front of the hotel until 10pm for easy access (afterwards, it is transferred to a secure parking garage). Stay -The terrace is wonderful. Great views of the city and the fire pit is as advertised. -I traveled with my 4 year old daughter and the roll-out bed was provided free of charge and fit very nicely next to our bed -Speaking of the bed, it was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. I cannot stress this enough! -There is a gym on the 2nd floor that is open 24 hours. It has a peloton, etc. Very nice. Location -Nicky at the front desk (shout out!) really recommended some great places to check out including Sheryls on 12th (great food with mini cubicles outside that you can eat inside a/heat). -Speaking of food, the fried egg food truck located at pioneer square (about 4 min walk) is probably THE best sandwich you will probably have in your life! -The hotel is situated right in the middle of downtown, so nothing is really that far from you. Keep in mind there is a pandemic and since there were some riots in Portland, some downtown shops have been boarded up. It didn’t take away from my experience but jt was sad to see. Check out -12pm is check out time and it felt right. -Since I paid for valet parking, they allowed me to leave my vehicle parked for an extra 15 minutes so I could stop by the Spice & Tea Exchange before I left! That meant everything. -Lastly, as I was walking back to my truck, Nicky came outside to thank us for staying at the hotel.

-Not really a negative but be sure to request the fit/wellness kit for your room. They are not there by default

Staff were great. Facility was very clean. We were pleasantly surprised that valet parking was included in the price with the room. Bed was super comfortable.

It was our fault not the facilities for not paying closer attention to the location. We had our dog with and the nearest park to walk and potty her was about 6 blocks away. One minor complaint was they forgot to provide shampoo. There was conditioner and lotion but no shampoo. Thankfully we had some with.

The property is absolutely beautiful

For the expense and the type of property it is I expected someone to take care of bringing our luggage up to our room. Luckily the had valet because there is no parking and it was a down poor. Also, when we booked the room the advertisement stated they had room service which we found they don’t. It was our first night on our honeymoon and I wanted breakfast served to the room, at least that was our plan.

Stayed in the King suite. Decor, beautiful room, very comfortable. Friendly staff. Wish we could have stayed longer.

As I filled the tub to use the jets, the water had a yellow tint. Didn’t feel comfortable sitting it so I skipped the bath. Idk if that’s the hotel’s fault or city of pdx.
