Hotel Grand Stark

The style of the room was beautiful. I particularly loved seeing the marble accessories and using the Smeg fridge, Nespresso, garment steamer, and Turkish robe. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was ideal. The shutters provided great lighting. The sound machine was offered and was great to cover the construction noise early in the morning. The valet was kind and fast. The front desk was helpful and accommodating. It was a very convenient location for east side activities. It smelled good throughout. The dinner and dessert was fantastic at the hotel restaurant with fast service. The notepads and pens are pretty. The morning coffee and danish’s were delicious.

The thin windows allowed a lot of noise in the room—but I loved the original windows otherwise!

This completely renovated, vintage hotel has been masterfully crafted for maximizing room space and comfort. The room wasn't large, but it was fabulous! We really liked how clean and beautiful everything looked. We loved the location for downtown walkability to local breweries, the food court pod (Hawthorne Asylum), etc., but the location also had a downside.

The downside to this hotel's location is the immediate neighbourhood. There's valet parking, for an extra $45 or something. Otherwise, you have to find street parking and the streets in the area can be a bit dodgy. If I stayed again, I would ask for a room that did not face Grand Ave., or at least was higher up (we were on the second floor facing the street) because it was LOUD overnight. It sounded like the windows were open, but they weren't. They're just super thin, or the walls are. Someone out on the street was yelling, ranting, and raving at intervals half the night. Also vehicles revving their engines and roaring off after stopping at the intersection. Ask for a room facing away from the street, or bring good ear plugs.

The hotel staff were wonderful, the hotel aesthetic is beautiful 😍, our room was large and comfortable and perfectly clean. The hotel security is on point, doors lock after 6pm, and they have secure valet parking (for a fee). The neighborhood is funky with lots of food and coffee options nearby. They lent us bikes to explore the city which was definitely a highlight.

Like most of Portland, there is a large unhoused population. This neighborhood is no exception, and there is a shelter across the road from the hotel. However, we never felt unsafe walking around and generally everyone was very pleasant.

We got in to Portland late at 10:45pm on a Friday night. The valet was offered to us, but we found free street parking instead because it was a weekend. The room exceeded our expectations. An amazing shower. Super cute room with lovely colors and decorations. They have an espresso machine in the rooms 10/10. The toiletries were nice. The bed was so so comfortable and it got really dark in there so we could sleep in after clubbing next door. And with booking--you really can't beat the price for such a nice room in downtown portland. We would definitely stay again.

The lobby was extremely bright, airy and clean! Staff was extremely attentive and were on our reservation before we even opened our mouths. Check in and out processes were the smoothest I've had at any hotel. I could have slept the entire day in that bed. So comfortable and quiet.

The only downside was the construction just outside our window. Didn't think it would be an issue since we were staying on a Saturday night but who knew portlanders like building concrete forms at 8a on a Sunday :p

Such a perfectly curated hotel. Loved every detail. It even smells amazing. Seriously. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Great walkable location with rail access right across the street. We walked to the convention center multiple times, about 10 minutes. Plenty of great restaurants and breweries close by. 100% would stay again.

There was construction going on behind the hotel. It didn't bug us, but if you're looking to sleep past 8am, you may want to be sure to ask for a room on the opposite side.

Wonderful hotel within walking distance to the convention center and many buses into downtown. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. The rooms were clean and comfortable!

The room have wall air con units for heating and cooling. The one in our room wasn't working properly and it was very cold. The staff tried to find a space heater but couldn't. At our request, they were able to move us to a different room after our first night. It was much warmer!

The rooms here are really comfortable. One of the few affordable hotels in Portland with excellent air conditioning. The staff is usually very nice and helpful. It is a beautiful historic building unlike anything else in Portland.

Their parking lot is currently unavailable due to construction. I messaged the property that i'd need to buy a parking permit for the night and received a message back that they got my request. When i arrived I was told I would have to park on the street. There is a large transient population in that area and having to walk a couple of blocks with my bags early in the morning (I had an early flight out) was unsafe at best.

We used the parking , great and secure. Close to some excellent destinations ( Omsi, parks, downtown, great restaurants and shopping the Eastside is the best side.)

Sadly like many cities, houselessness is a huge no matter whether city or suburbs all over the US. We as Us citizens and human need to address the issues of these folks. This is a hotel that raises the area and the company is active in increasing the awareness of a beautiful city while being active in community needs. I grew up in Portand and live elsewhere, but I support this hotel chain and celebrate the beauty of Portland, Oregon!!!!

This is a lovely boutique hotel near the center of town. The staff are all welcoming and happy to help. The gated parking made me feel confident leaving my car. The hotel restaurant/bar had high quality food and coffee. The room was cute, spacious, and simple with good AC. The bed was very comfortable. The view was of the side of a building, but it has been painted with a mural, which helps. They left a bed, dishes, and treats for my dog, and I felt welcome walking him around the hotel.

They could really use some hooks or towel bars in the bathroom.
