Plantation Motel

I visited Huron earlier in the spring and stayed in a motel closer to town. The price at that time was reasonable. My last trip was in mid-June. Motels in town more than double their winter rates in the summer on the weekends. I booked the Plantation Motel strictly based on price. I expected it to be a dump. I was wrong. I stayed in a one room cabin. It was clean and well maintained. It was quiet. Everything worked. Parking was right next to each individual cabin. The location is exceptional. It's less than 10 minutes from town and I could walk down the lane to Lake Erie from my front door in less than five minutes. There is a pub across the street and one of the most popular steak houses in Huron is two minutes down the road. Here's the best part: Everyone in town loves the owner. Every time I told someone I was staying at the Plantation they said many, many good things about him. I only spoke with him briefly so I can't judge for myself, but I doubt if everyone in town could be wrong. I will stay at the Plantation every time I'm in Huron from now on. I will tell all my friends to stay at the Plantation if they are ever in Huron or anywhere close. I can stay in a Motel 6 anywhere, but the Plantation's setting alone makes it a unique experience. Did I mention the price? It was half the cost of the next less expensive hotel. Great value and a great experience.

Couldn't have been better.

This place was perfect for us! My boyfriend and some friends and I got the 4 bedroom sweetish cottage. Originally there were going to be 6 of us! Sadly 2 of our friends could not make it due to covid. But there was a ton of room and this place could easily house 6 of us! The view from the back deck was perfect as it is looking directly at lake Erie, you could also see Cedar Point from there! This was also a bonus as it was only about a 20 minute drive to get to Cedar Point which was very nice. The kitchen was also well put together as it came with pots, pans silverware, toaster and coffee maker and was fully functional. I would say that my only complaint was that the internet didn't work very well at all, but I enjoyed that fact because it forced everyone off of their phones and to actually spend time together, we did have service though for phone calls and texting, which was nice.

The room was clean and had a refrigerator, microwave, and stove.

The room was clean. However, they have a serious septic issue going on right outside the room.. There are a lot of spiders in the room in plain view, which I found odd. The parking is a matter of luck. The weekend rates for this place are utterly ridiculous. I realize Cedar Point isn't far, but price gouging should be a crime.

The little beach was pretty not recommended for swimming but fishing or looking for rocks or shells we found some really cool ones. I thought I saw a bald eagle catch a fish from water off to the right and fly into the trees. Quiet and peaceful. Oh nice outside pool as well for swimming was a bit cold though.

I didn't have a microwave. If I had gotten the bigger room I would have had one. But mini fridge and TV and two beds bathroom with shower. Kids enjoyed it and Pet Friendly 🙂 Oh watch out for mayflies but that's nature.

Everything. The room was awesome the location great and the surroundings wonderful. You can walk down near the water they have a fire pit with seating and tables near it and fire wood just off to the side so you can have your own fire and enjoy listening to the waves. The staff who we met the next morning was so wonderful and friendly and helpful.

The bed was a bit too hard

This is a family-run, seasonal motel. If you are expecting high-end luxury or chain-type conveniences, then you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for a clean, budget-friendly stay on Lake Erie, this could be for you! There is a fish cleaning station for anglers. Small swimming pool. Covered picnic/bbq area with playground. Lakeview with chairs, firepit, and supplied wood. 5 minutes to the beach. Maximum of 10 to the Main St. pier. 10-15 minutes east of Vermillion. Sandusky and Cedar Point is about the same drive west.

Our room was close to Route 6, so we got some road noise. Also it was sometimes difficult to find the driveway in the dark.

Tiny house so expected to be short changed but was very excited about how clean it was and even had our own mini fridge so we were able to have a few picnics by the lake. Though smaller in size there were 3 windows in the room, another in the bathroom, and a window in the door making it feel very comfortable. Loved it!!

A bigger shower if spending more then a night but it worked well and had hot water

The Plantation Motel is a Lake Erie-front rustic resort. By rustic I mean that it is not fancy, older and is not a chain. It offers motel rooms, individual small cabins and has some leased RV sites. My room was in a cabin that was spotless, very comfortable, had a great bed, and a nice clean bathroom offering plenty of hot water. There was cable TV and a small refrig as well. Many amenities were available including heated pool, charcoal, lighter and grills, picnic shelter, fire pits with wood, playground and path down to the Lake. The staff was very friendly and I found it to be a great value

I love how cozy it is (it is literally a tiny house), and how close it is to Sandusky. We have gone every year for the past three years, and always make a point to stay there.

The mattress was a little hard last year for us (though this may not be an issue for other people), so we brought an eggshell mattress to lay on top of it and had no issues whatsoever!

It was super cute! My son and I stayed in a 1 room cottage! It was so adorable l! He joked we were living in a tiny house! There was enough space for two and a bathroom with a shower! 🙂

Nothing really! It worked great for our needs! The bed could have been a bit more comfortable, but it wasn’t as bad as some cheap motels I have stayed in!
