ICONA Cape May

Great location. Friendly, helpful staff provides great service, including taking beach chairs to/from the beach and shuttle service to/from restaurants - which is prompt and convenient! Rooms are modern and nice. And super clean.

Solitary complaint relates to bedding. Truly good hotels have comfy beds, down pillows, and Egyptian cotton sheets.The beds are comfortable enough, but the pillows are horrendous and the linens could be much better. Shame, because these elements are critical to a decent night’s sleep and an overall happy stay. Also, pool is tiny but I came for the beach anyway ….

The best part of the hotel is that it was close to the beach and the staff set you up with chairs and an umbrella from the hotel which was a huge perk. Tarik, who helped us on 2 of the days, was a sweetheart. Also appreciated that they had a shuttle that would take you wherever you wanted to go. It was about a 20min walk to the shops so that was a nice option. The room was large, bright, and very modern and had a nice efficiency set-up. Also enjoyed our balcony even though we only had a partial view of the beach from our room.

The pool area was a bit tiny so it would get crowded quickly. Also thought the 2 women working the front desk in the morning were less than friendly. The other front desk staff that came in later in the day were far more bubbly and helpful.

Staff, location, shuttle, beach service, & room. We have a 3 year old and stayed in a standard double queen room. It worked well enough for us. Our son loved the shuttle! The black sprinter was the way to go. There was umbrella, chair, & towel service that was walked from the hotel to the beach by staff. There is also an outdoor place to wash off sand next to the hotel entrance. The beach location has a public restroom & there is a restroom at the pool & lobby level (2d fL). Amenities are included so helpful to have cash to tip, staff worked hard and did an excellent job, everyone from front desk to housekeeping. Also parking is not bad, there are only so many spots in the garage but, people park & then use the shuttle so cars stay put. There is free street parking behind the hotel and then some metered parking on the side streets. The back street was pretty quiet & finding a spot was easy & even getting help with bags from the street was possible.

It is expensive but, we got what we paid for and would def stay again. Icona’s beach had a jetty and to swim you had to go to the right a bit. The beach is also a steeper incline as you reach the water. Diamond beach location is the nicest beach, flat and open but, location is more isolated.

The beach service was amazing. You let the front desk know you’re heading to the beach, and by the time you get downstairs there’s someone waiting for you with chairs and umbrellas on a cart, and they even take your bags and coolers! Then they walk you to the spot of your choice and set you up. The shuttle service was also a game changer. In 5 days we never used our car. We took the shuttle everywhere, and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for it (most times it was 5 or less)

The pool is very small. We came to this hotel for the beach, not the pool, so it was a non-issue for us. But the pool fills up if it has 6 people in it.

The Icona is beautiful! Updated very nicely. Our room and bath were super clean; the cleaning staff did a wonderful job. The bed was extremely comfortable. The Icona is a little north on the beaten path, so it was quiet and relaxing. The pool was small but enough for the people who were using it; it was clean and lots of lounge chairs were available poolside. There were only 36 parking spots for 52 rooms, but once you parked you did not have to move your car again. The shuttle service took you ANYWHERE you wanted to go in Cape May and picked you up when you were ready to return to the hotel. John and Anthony, the shuttle drivers, were friendly, courteous, and great tour guides. Fabulous!

I would have liked a bar or cafe on the property but there really is no room. The pool towels were a little small.

I wrote a message to the hotel before the trip. I told the staff that I’m coming for the first time to Cape May and it was on my Birthday May 11th. Little I knew that I was assigned a very nice room with a view, with chocolates and balloons waiting for me. But the guy who checked us in changed the room last minute. After 2 days of stay, a reception lady knocks on our door with the balloons and chocolates in her hands. She apologized and spilled the beans to us. I would have preferred not to know what we missed. A little disappointing! Besides this misunderstanding everything was great. Great job Mike!

We love the property and the shuttle the drivers are always so pleasant and helpful.

We did book on booking.com. When we check in it was insinuated that since we didn’t book thru them we would be able to get the better side of the hotel. We have stayed 2 years in a row and kind of felt that was rude to say. We did what was convenient for us and they still got our money. We recommend the hotel all the time to people. We ended up with the room we wanted but it took some convincing.

The location was fine and we did not have many issues with parking like most of the reviews mentioned, probably because it's Spring and not many people visiting. I also like the hotel shuttle that's available.

There was a bit of an ant problem in our room and the bed could be a bit better. I almost thought there were bed bugs at one point but I think I was allergic to the fabric or maybe the detergent(no critters were found, THANKFULLY). As far as parking goes, luckily I was in a rental, not sure I would be able to get my Jeep in those spaces.

clean room, nice shower and bathroom area. elevators easy to use. staff was friendly and helpful. small refrigerator and microwave was nice. parking was easy (but we were there in off-season). you can walk to the beach in 2 minutes, right across street.

we had 3 adults, and seemed a little crowded at times, the location is far from shopping and some restaurants. we did know that, we have made many trips to Cape May since 1980's. you will need to use your car, or ride a bicycle or be a "walker"

The room was very clean and it was ready when we arrived 3 hours prior to check-in and they allowed us one extra hour on check-out day. The front desk staff was VERY friendly and always there to help if necessary. The Shuttle drivers were FANTASTIC! They were Always available and offered help and great suggestions. The other staff was also always ready to help us with chairs at the beach or anything else we needed. Having the heated pool open was great!

The parking could be tight so we did not want to move our car because we preferred to keep it in the parking lot of hotel as opposed to on the street.
