Lil Black Bear Inn

I had never stayed in a smaller more personal inn/bed and breakfast and had reservations about trying something new but it was so quaint and peaceful and a beautiful setting that felt like home. I was greeted by the owner who was so friendly & mad me feel I’d known him my entire life & that truly added to the appeal of the stay as most places you don’t really get that personal one on one experience. I would recommend anyone give it a try because it was absolutely amazing and I wish I’d been able to stay more than one night but had to get home to care for my father. What a perfect break from the hustle and bustle of daily life❤️

The only thing I didn’t like about the property was that I didn’t book it for a longer stay😏All jokes aside I had zero complaints and loved everything about it.

Jim was a great host, very funny. He gave us names of places for discounts. It was a good location for us and reasonably priced. We went to Columbus on our way in and spent the rest of the Friday in Nashville, Indiana. We love Brown County and we hiked in the morning on Saturday and visited a winery in the afternoon. All locations of places we visited were a perfect distance from the Inn. Breakfast was delicious, probably the best breakfast we’ve ever had at a B&B and enjoyed meeting others and finding out where they ate, etc. Our room was quiet but we also had the indoor air conditioner on all night because we were told it is a very warm room, and it was. We like white noise, so that was actually a plus for us. Moon Glory is a small room, we would probably rent a bigger place next time. Thanks Jim, we enjoyed!

Bathroom could have been a little cleaner for our liking(rugs mainly).

Very nice house and the room and grounds were all well kept and clean. Jim and Jill were both very pleasant and the food was very good. The in room fireplace and the open hot tub on the patio were very nice amenities to have.

All of my complaints are petty and wouldn't nearly stop me from staying again. The internet was a little slow. The bed wasn't super comfortable, but I've slept in worse. Also, is any bed ever really as comfortable as your own?

The owner was super friendly - I enjoyed his dry wit! The room was very comfortable and the setting was great! Woods all around and it couldn't have been better. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All in all it was the perfect get away spot!

The only downside - if you have mobility issues be sure to as for the lower level rooms. I have trouble with stairs and there were a lot of stairs. I didn't know to ask and the owners didn't know to mention it.

Location was near the park and close enough to Nashville. The hot tub and jacuzzi were nice extras as well as the heater/fireplace. I thought the breakfast was great. My husband would have preferred ham or sausage to bacon and more bakery items and jellies, applesauce, etc. in keeping with what he has had before in Brown County. We both enjoyed meeting the other guests.

Mentioned above that my husband was disappointed with the breakfast. The booking agent said we would have two queen beds in our room so there may have been some miscommunication there. No problem. We’ve been married 51 years and we still like each other. Due to our poor internet service, I wasn’t able to view the rooms. My husband is a good sport, but deep purple on the walls was a shock to his system. I got a good laugh at that.

The location up the hill surrounded by thick forested land was very ideal and relaxing. The many trees nearly entirely shut out the knowledge that Nashville and many people were only a few miles away. The breakfasts were nothing like I had ever experienced at a motel or B&B. All food was delicious. The owners are great cooks and servers...very friendly and wanting to serve and please. The hot tub was very relaxing after a day of driving from northern Indiana.

I could feel the springs through the mattress on the bed. I am thankful for the individual air conditioner in the room since the room sometimes becomes warm. However, the constant running of the AC awakened me during each night.

It was clean and peaceful. The value was superb. The owners were great, and the breakfast was awesome. The amenities were very nice. We were very pleased with our stay.

The grounds could be kept up better. The pond and fire pit areas could be better maintained, but weren't unpleasant.

Jim and Jill were wonderful hosts! You can tell they love what they are doing. Jim met us as soon as we pulled in and welcomed us. We had read reviews on the breakfast that were positive but we had never tasted scrambled eggs so wonderful! Food was very flavorful! We staid in the Morning Glory Room and it was prefect for us. We came in on a Friday night and left on Sunday and for us having plans being gone most of Saturday, it was nice and cozy! Loved the nature and meeting Jim and Jill's dogs. The property is placed perfectly in between Nashville and Columbus. My husband has made his mind up, we are definitely going back!

Hot and cold in the shower were reversed. Once we figured that out, all was good. Driveway is smaller which didn't bother us being in a smaller vehicle but if you have a bigger vehicle it could possibly be an issue.

It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. An outside hot tub was available for guests to use.

We'd like access to the wi-fi. Both the bacon and the potatoes were burnt/ overcooked. Website photos of our room showed two beds. The second was a couch fold-out bed.

Breakfast was exceptional !!! The owner, Jim, was extra welcoming. We didn't really get to meet his wife, Jill, but did get to wave goodbye.

The steps were a little steep for my wife. She hasn't been very active the last 2 months, and it showed.
