The Guild Hotel, San Diego, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Breakfast was great, location amazing and even the tickets to the art museum were a great touch. All the staff were super friendly too.

The only thing that surprised me a bit was the size of my room. The apprentice room is quite small and I wasn’t expecting it. For one person traveling it was fine but there’s not a lot of space to move about.

Wonderful hotel, modern art niveau style hotel with industrial design touches. Nice, spacious rooms with comfortable big beds. Location is walking distance to the nice areas in San Diego, such as Little Italy, the Gaslamp District, Balbao park, and, a little bit further but still at walkable distance, the very cosy Hillcrest area.

There was not a proper closet to hang your clothes. It was a very innovative and new design what had to represent a closet but because of the lack of depth, the functionality of a normal closet was compromised in this design. Also, I arrived super late after a tremendous trip and to the find out there was no room service was a big and unpleasant surprise, so I had to leave the hotel to get something to eat. This was the first time I ever experienced this in the States which is so orientated towards customer experience and room service is a service I find one should never compromise on in my opinion.

I stumbled upon this hotel my last night in San Diego, after spending $500 a night at 5 star hotels. What a surprise to find a boutique hotel that is part of the Marriott collection with outstanding food and beverage, and staffing. The hotel itself was a perfect location for me, a short walk to Little Italy a short walk to the water and a short walk to the Gaslamp. From the beginning of being welcomed by Layla as a Marriott Elite member (trust me I stay with Marriott hotels who don't seem to regard the status at all), we were upgraded to a suite that was modern and clean with everything we needed, great collection of house amenities and a cool bag of treats for my dog as well as dog bags as a welcoming gift. They charge a resort credit (which from my stay in San Diego this is common with 95% of the nicer hotels) but the great aspect of the credit is that you receive a $35 food and beverage credit at the Guild Bar. You also have complimentary bikes, and a partnership with a great fitness club next door. The Guild Bar is worth a visit even if you are not staying at the hotel. Had an incredible Amaro Tasting with the bar manager, Seth.... the collection of hard to find spirits behind the bar is really impressive and he made the evening spectacular, nice to see great professionals loving what they do. The bar has a neighborly and very welcoming feel and the food was outstanding. Breakfast (included for Marriott elite members) is a la carte with great baristas and a selection that I wish I could have stayed longer to try. Bonus was the short 2.5 mile walk to the airport along the water, nice way to get your morning exercise in with a day of travel ahead. I will definitely be staying at this hotel over the Pendry/IHG/Westin in the future

There was amdenities fee that I was not aware of prior to showing up, but the fee did take care of the overnight parking and we got a voucher to grab a drink or meal at the bar (as well as other things), so it was worth it. Great location by the Midway and the harbor walk. I woudl recommend for friends to stay!

Rooms are super clean Breakfast was great You get 35$ voucher per room vor food and beverages which you can use flexible also on the breakfast, 35$ does not cover the cost of a "regular" breakfast, we paid approximately 50 $ additionally per day for 2 persons "small to regular size" breakfast the interior is cool, charming and new the fitness-spa access was great rental bikes for free

Queen Size room is quiet small Vallet parking 65$ for 24h alternative public parking with either 25$ over night or 33$ per day or approx. 15$ during saturday/sunday

The location is amazing and I like that it's close to the airport and a lot of other major attractions by car. The staff are so amazing; especially Marco (one of the doormen) and the overnight front desk workers. My friend who went with me was raving about the services the entire time we were there. She also loved the Le Labo toiletries provided.

I wish there was another outlet on the other side of the bed because it was a bit tricky charging laptops and phones at once

The room was a suitable size with space saving features such as a hanger rack in lieu of a closet. The bathroom was well appointed with a large walk in shower. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning in the courtyard and evening drinks at the bar. The food was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. The location was great for touring as it was walkable to the harbor, Little Italy, and the Gaslamp district.

It was very nice and clean. The room was everything we needed. overall would stay here again. The room was very modern for being a older building. Would definitely recommend.

No refrigerator. Stayed on the second floor. Had to look for ice. Found that they only have 1 ice machine and it's on the 3rd floor. But overall the room itself made up for everything else.

The property gives you a $35 daily credit at their restaurant.the property has a gym and provides free water bottles. staff is friendly and helpful and it’s a modern facility.

No parking. I had to pay $25 dollars to stay overnight in the garage behind the hotel and was charged when I left and came back. meaning, you have to stay in the garage or you’ll be charged every time you leave. No coffee machine in room, microwave, or fridge.
