Excellent, clean.

The light on corridor at my room wasn’t on. And there was steps. The staff member couldn’t find the corridor light. The shared bathroom toilet didn’t seam to be working so was full of toilet roll. Luckily I used the pub toilets before coming to my room. No kettle/cups in room so in the morning there was no where to make a cup of tea. Didn’t know where to hand key in the morning as everything closed.

Friendly and helpful staff, great location with lovely courtyard. Our room overlooked the courtyard and with the window open you could hear everything but it was quiet from around midnight. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. Check in and out was easy, even though we were late due to train delays. Everything you needed really for a couple of nights!

The bed was very soft but that's personal preference

The location was perfect. The rooms cleanliness was great. The staff were the best though. They were friendly, helpful and just the best.

The room was directly above the courtyard so the music was coming firectly into the room. This would of been fine if it wasn't stupidly warm weather so we had to have the window open to get any air. Not the worse thing but just a little nag.

Location was brilliant, very clean and lovely staff and the restaurant / bar looked beautiful!

Have to be picky to find something negative - parking is a short walk away around the corner and there is LOADS of stairs up to the bedrooms which is a pain with a pram (well, impossible actually) but it’s an old building so that isn’t their fault!!

The location was good. Right in town centre next to the market . We booked because we had tickets for theatre . And only 5 mins walk away . The rooms were huge . Bed comfy . Staff were lovely . Would stay again .

Parking could have been closer . The car park behind was on 12 hour . After finding another 5 minutes away was told by the guy who checked us in that he had an app on phone and time could be extended. An en-suite rather than shared bathroom would have been nice . But would stop me from staying again .

The Herbalist Rooms are Fantastic. The building itself is Listed with all its original features. James and his team were Exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. We go to St. Ledger annually and will most definitely be booking into The Herbalist Rooms for next year. The food in the Restaurant was also fantastic, compliments to the Chef ! I would recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for first class accommodation, a excellent Italian meal or a cocktail or two! Thank you again everyone. See you all next year. Absolutely Nothing

From the moment we arrived it was evident that the business (restaurant, bar and rooms) is very well run. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive and the rooms were well equipped and comfortable. We are at the restaurant two nights running, once as a couple and the second night with friends, and the food was just exceptional. Retford itself is a lovely little town and is close to some excellent places for days out such as Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park. we will definitely be back. Although there is no parking at the property due to its location there is a very reasonable priced car park literally 30 seconds walk away.

The room was amazing - large, warm, tidy and smelled incredible. The bathroom was spotless, with fresh towels offered. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a large wardrobe. The staff were super friendly and eager to help. The rooms were secure (a keypad on the entrance door behind a gate). The noise from the herbalist bar could not be heard from the room when we had to TV on. Overall, everything was lovely.

The only improvement I could suggest would be parking nearby, but I understand why there is not parking readily available in the village.

Size of bed. Cleanliness. Ease of access and friendly staff.we The shared bathroom were not between rooms which we thought would be the case. There were 2 bathrooms and 1 kitchen ,which were shared between the hole floor. This was not a issue,we were also lucky enough to stay an extra day in a different room en-suit which was lovely. A few extras tea and coffee facilities a couple of bottles of water a bigger TV and of course your own bathroom which included toiletries. The beds were very comfortably and it was reasonably quiet on a night time. Would definitely stay again

The staff are super-helpful, communicative, friendly and welcoming. The building has a very long and interesting history and the staff were at great pains and took time from their busy schedules to explain details of it.

It took me a while to find the actual entrance as the address I was given, 24a Market Square, didn't allow me access which, in reality, is around the corner through the bar.
