The New Inn

Nice old English pub with rooms. Comfortable bed and good shower room. Excellent breakfast and well cooked evening meal even though the menu was much reduced. Dining room area was comfortable and nicely decorated.

The property was due to change owner in a couple of weeks so there was only a limited evening menu which they did not tell us about when we booked a table/room there just two days before, could have been very disappointing if we were fussy eaters. Also apparently we were ‘upgraded’ to a better room at no extra charge (not sure if this was down to the owners or Booking.com), but as there was only one other guest this was a little bit disingenuous. Bedroom decor was serviceable but tired. Only powdered coffee in the room. All in all this was overpriced accommodation compared to other places we stayed in the local area.

The champagne room is very large and spacious. The breakfast was very good. The rooms in general were very comfortable and luxurious. because the pub was closed that evening it was very quiet; it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves, although there were other guests staying there. Nice location in small country village near where I grew up and went to school.

The only small problem for us was the lack of twin beds - we have three children. We had not realised that it is not like a normal pub that is open until late, so we unintentionally kept the staff waiting to let us in - so just make sure to communicate an accurate arrival time, or update as needed.

Quiet, Relaxing, Beautiful Countryside Location The Staff at the New Inn were absolutely Fantastic! Very Friendly and Attentive. The Manager Matt made our Weekend Extra Special! As we had Gathered to Celebrate George Michael’s 60th Birthday Celebration and he so Graciously had George’s Beautiful Music playing each morning in the Restaurant as we enjoyed our Lovely Breakfast it absolutely was the best and made such wonderful memories! Definitely will be making plans to stay here again next year.

Room clean and tidy Ensuite very spacious. Breakfast very good and staff helpful.Thought had been given to providing space for our family dinner which was enjoyed by all.

Room noisy at night from the room above little soundproofing.Mattress not comfortable-could feel the springs when lying down.

The staff at the New Inn were absolutely fantastic. We went there for our anniversary and they've made our stay there amazing in every way. I was taking part on the Spartan Race the day after, and the staff wished me good luck in the morning as we left! Melissa was our waitress in the evening for dinner and went above and beyond. The Inn was beautiful and really well mantained, full of character.

It was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Really welcoming on arrival and throughout and nothing we asked was too much for them

The walls are fairly thin, to be expected with an old building. But it's depends on what room you are in and the other people staying there. As we were on the bottom floor the people above us were rather noisy.

Lovely hidden gem of a place 💕 Stayed on the ground floor apartment with our own private outdoor area which was absolutely stunning to have tea & coffee at our own times/leisure. The shower is BEAUTIFUL and hot (I love boiling hot showers) and The Inns was absolutely sublime 🥰

Only peev I'd say, is the people staying above our room, arrived past 11pm not realising others maybe asleep so kept us up, also they were heavy footed, so when someone upstairs went to the bathroom (now closer to 11:30pm) we kept waking up from the heavy footsteps echoing above our room. If it had been quieter it would of been absolutely magically little place, I'd happily return to for child free get aways.

The rooms aren't attached to the pub. Room was very comfortable. Bathroom very nice. Loved having a cafetiere in the morning (and brown sugar too!) Bedding was great quality and the bed was very comfortable. Loved having our own private patio off the bedroom. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The patio could do with a sweep as we were very aware of walking debris onto the carpet - this is just a minor observation.

Our rooms were exceptional, very warm and cosy on a cold winter day. Underfloor heating was a bonus!! Dinner in the restaurant was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was also great, Full English or vegetarian option available. Cereal, toast, yogurt... all excellent! Would most certainly book again and definitely recommend.

Signage for checking in was an issue. Nothing on the front door to advise of checking in process, Having to enter a full bar to find out. Also having to walk around the outside of the pub to get into the restaurant or breakfast room could be an issue if raining etc.

Lovely English Inn in a very quiet location close to Reading! We had a lovely drink in the bar and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with both our check inn and some specific requests for our arrival. Our room was extremely spacious and comfortable, the bed was huge and cosy as was the bathroom too.
