Parkside International Hotel

I liked my room it was very spacious, cosy and very clean and being at the top of the building there wasn't a lot of people walking past your room late at night.

There were one or two hairs in the bathroom on my arrival. The noisy lift it could be heard very clearly in the room I was in and maybe could do with a little attention. No fault of the staff, but a polite note in the rooms asking guest to have a little consideration for other guest above, below and next to you after 10.30;at night. Two nights were perfect so quiet and peaceful. My last night was terrible because of the guest/s below, who were banging doors(didn’t really know that there were that many doors in a room to bang!!) continuously, I gave up trying to sleep in the end. It will make think twice about booking again or recommending the hotel to any one. Some of us are there for a relaxing time and not to party all night.

This was a last minute budget option and I expected everything to be at a minimal level. On the contrary, the staff were very helpful, the room FAR bigger than I expected, the cleanliness impeccable, and the firm bed as comfortable as the one I use at home (although I can't vouch for any other beds!). Everything is spacious, even the cupboards in the room, and accessible even for those lugging large suitcases and the place was, not silent, but very quiet during my two-night stay. My room had a good-size two-person 'dining' table and chairs, plus a huge desk with office chair, so lots of room for organising things. Tea & coffee things hidden in one of the many cupboards, lots of sockets!

I little bit of extra care could make a difference to some people but, at these prices, you can'r expect high staffing levels and investment. The shower needed descaling and the 'office' chair had a loose joint that needed glueing. Like many hotels with shower-baths they should install safety handles or rails in the bath area, and not just for the elderly - they are essential with wet, slippery feet.

They don’t charge you for taking your dog/dogs. They staff are very friendly too and it’s very clean and the breakfast is good too.

Didn’t find the tea and coffee facilities in the room until the day we was leaving as they was put in a bottom cupboard underneath where the desk was with the tv on it. my opinion is it should all be out on view and probably put some biscuits on it too. Also our tap in the sink in room 221 hot was cold and the cold was hot so we had to remember to turn it opposite to what the tap says.

The Parkside hotel was clean and comfortable, and staff were welcoming. We were at a function until 8 pm and unable to check in before then. This wasn’t a problem, and I was able to check in without a problem. A fan was supplied to help keep the room cool and comfortable, and we appreciated this. Having read a few reviews of this hotel after booking, I was a little concerned as to what I might find. I had no need to be concerned. Okay it’s not the Ritz, but at these prices I didn’t expect that. We Stayed for one night to break our journey home, and it was perfect for t.his purpose.

Nothing. It is on a busy road, but our room was on the 2nd floor at the back of the hotel and even with the window open we didn’t hear anything.

Large comfy room, good shower, tea and coffee, pleasant check in and out due to receptionist on duty. Travel cot provided with no issues at all.

Breakfast was fairly limited, disappointing that no dairy free milk options were provided. No fruit/yogurt or child friendly cereal/breakfast options at breakfast table. The breakfast options that were offered were however nice enough and the breakfast area was peaceful.

I like this hotel as it's dog friendly and 5 minutes from a lovely park which is ideal for walking the dogs. It's clean and comfortable and the staff on reception are lovely.

The only downside is the noisy road. Not the hotel's fault but it would be great if there was a speed camera on that stretch of road to stop the noisy motorbikes that zoom past making more noise than a Jumbo Jet.

Nicely cooked full English breakfast with coffee and juice. Friendly attentive waitress to meet and greet, explain choices, take order then kept tables cleared and buffet cutlery restocked as ready to from the kitchen.

The bed mattress was sunken to shape of body and quite dense. Found an empty small perfume tester bottle on carpet up against skirting board next to the bed and a pubic hair on the far side edge of the bath before I got in.

Very nice, well-lit room, with a comfortable bed, three chairs and a free-standing table, and plenty of storage, including a proper wardrobe with doors. Bathroom with a shaving mirror with lights (hooray). Good full English breakfast, including blackcurrant jam for my toast, to set us up for the journey home. Plenty of parking, helpful staff, and bus stops close at hand for the journeys in and out of the town centre (routes 1 & 2 which both serve the station). Easy access to/from M4 Junction 12, as the hotel is on the A4.

The duvet could have been wider. and I would have preferred a higher bed. Also there was a lightbulb missing from one of the lights over the head of the bed (reported to reception)

The location was where we wanted to be which was close to the twon centre. The hotel is easy to find and has plenty of parking. Our room was comfortable and not cramped. The bed standard meant that we slept well. We paid for breakfast and had a good traditional cooked meal. There were alternatives. When we go to Reading and want to stay in a hotel, we will use this one.

The chap on reception was extremely polite and helpful as regards to (disabled) parking. Our room (including the bathroom) was spotlessly clean with immaculate crisp, white bedding. The pedestal fan was a bonus as the weather was very warm.

Unfortunately the pillows on our bed were very flat; I had to put the small bed cushion under the pillows to get into a reasonably comfortable position as I prefer firmer pillows. The cooked breakfast was rather scant; 1 piece of bacon, 1 sausage, a very small (hard) poached egg with mushrooms as I opted out of tomatoes & beans. I had 2 pieces of toast as there was no option for croissants and no further allowance for more toast. In view of this I would stay again if I was in the area
