We had a lovely stay. The main hotel/ bsr and the village are beautiful. Great decor and feel. The restaurant and food were exceptional. Great atmosphere with live mellow music, good cocktails and interesting, varied, delicious and beautifully presented food. Room (though small and dated) was beautifully clean, and had everything you expect ie hairdryer, good towels, tea & coffee and toiletries. We would stay again.

Many more positives than negatives by far, with just a few niggly things ...No one at reception when we arrived, so walked through to bar which was busy, only to be told ... to go to reception. Staff a little tense and stretched (understandably) as bar was full, restaurant busy, and a wedding reception happening. Room we had was nothing like any of the photos on websites, so rather disappointing and dated. Though hotel was very old and full of character, our room was in separate 20th century extension complete with office style ceiling tiles. Such a shame. Bath had shower above, great hot water but narrow bath and screen leaked so unable to prevent water escaping to floor.

Beautiful location, delicious food and great staff

Only a minor thing but there was a very officious laminated sheet in the room detailing all of the do’s and do nots when staying at the hotel (including a threat of a £5 fine if the plastic key card was not returned at check out!). This seemed totally at odds with the warm and friendly welcome and the friendly , excellent care that we received from all of the hotel staff on the ground. Perhaps the hotel group need to rein in the operations manager and keep him/her away from customer facing communication.

Location. Food. Garden area. Room. Ambiance. Staff.

Our room (No.15) was in need of freshening up. Apparently it is on their 'to Do' list. Our bed was well past its best, springs could be felt under our backs, not a recipe for a relaxing night's sleep. Old polystyrene tiles on ceiling, very dated. For the price, we would have liked to have had biscuits with our tea/coffee. All this was noted to the lovely lady, Katherine, at the reception desk who said she would pass our comments on to the management. Its such a shame as we loved the hotel in general, and the staff were so helpful. Would love to return if we could have a better, updated room to stay in in the future.

Great location right in the centre of the village. The room was bigger than I thought it was going to be. Large comfortable bed. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Food was good especially breakfast. We had a nice quiet walk along the river which we accessed from Shirleys car park on Sunday morning.

The hotel car park was full because there was a reception on, but we parked round the corner at Shirley's. It's a free car park and left the car overnight without a problem. The coffee in the room was in bags and a bit weak so we got something stronger from the co-op in the village.

Well I do not know where to start! We booked this hotel 20 minutes before we arrived due to a bad experience elsewhere. When we arrived we were greeted by an extremely polite female member of staff who made small talk with us and we briefly explained why we had booked so late in the day. We were given the room key and guided to where we were staying. We got in the room which was was very bright and airy, a little outdated but clean nonetheless and we were happy enough (room 12). Then as we went to leave for a short walk we were met by the same female member of staff who said words to this effect of ‘because of your bad experience and how complimentary you were of the lobby area we would love to upgrade you to one of our finer suites’. Well we were over the moon, what a service! We were taken to room 4 (I think) which was breath taking! Wooden beams, beautiful room, outstanding bathroom and just all round lovely! Fudge, crisps and a few other little beautiful added extras. Whilst walking to room 4 we were asked for the reason of our stay to which we said we had got married the Saturday previous and due to Covid cannot go abroad so instead we were doing a little tour of the UK.. anyway we went out for a walk and when we came back there was a bottle of Prosecco in the room for us! We went downstairs for drinks to which the service was amazing! We had cocktails and the staff were honestly so attentive but not overbearing Breakfast was extremely tasty and hot! I cannot fault our stay here and we will defiantly be back. Thank you so much

Nothing. Absolutely spot on!

Good location. Food was lovely and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lovely outside space too. Our room was very nice and had everything we needed.

Some parts are a little tired looking, especially the carpets. Wooden floors throughout the public spaces would have looked much better. There was a mix up with our bill which wasn't great when we were in a rush to leave for a family funeral but they did sort it out and we were eventually billed the correct amount. Could also do with a little more parking!

We were upgraded to the nicest room, which was historical and really lovely, with a four-poster bed, in-room roll-top bath, and spacious bathroom. The staff are all super nice and accommodating. The restaurant is very good, as is the breakfast.

The room we’d booked (and didn’t use due to the generous upgrade) was quite far from reception and would have been expensive for what it was. Also in the upgraded room, there was a very noisy exhaust fan right outside and not much of a view.

The breakfast was superb but we had to ask about if the mains e.g. eggs benedict were included in the price because we were given a menu list to choose from. I felt a bit embarrassed having to have to ask. The compot was delicious as was the eggs benedict really good hollandaise sauce. :) The front of house lady was very accommodating allowing me to change into my dress before setting off to my friend's graduation ceremony.

The fact that there is no mention about extra costs for bringing your dog to stay over. I had to ask about this after we had made the booking.

Location excellent. its were we grew up in our teenage years. Wed were there for a celebration of my mothers life and to inter her ashes with my father at St Peters. The 3 restaurants we visited for family get togethers were excellent particularly Bacchus who also so did the catering at the Village Hall whose facilities are superb.

There was a problem at Booking.com with regards to Breakfast being included. We booked and paid for breakfast but the booking changed at the Booking.com end possibly a failure of your software. Not something The Bridge could do anything about so we ended up with a compromise from the Bridge which was very gracious of them but the failure would seem to have been with Booking.com. Other members of our party had the same problem.

I booked one night at The Bridge as I was working in the local area and could not have had a better experience! A beautiful hotel in a characterful little village, the room was spotless and had everything to hand that I could have needed. The staff were friendly and helpful at every stage of my stay and the breakfast was the best I have had at a hotel in my 15 years of travelling for work. The car park was more than ample and I could not have enjoyed my stay more. At £65 for the night, The Bridge massively over delivered!

Nothing, everything exceeded my expectations.
