The Tan Hill Inn0

A unique pub in an amazing setting. The atmosphere was incredible. The wind was howling, the fire was roaring, we sang songs and got drunk. A couple of other reviewers have mentioned the price of the rooms being high. I take the point but, the fact is, the owners are doing a great job keeping such a remote pub open. The costs to run the place would be very high (due to its remoteness, the pub runs off a giant generator etc). I hope to be able to revisit the Tann Hill Inn in the future and in these challenging time for pubs and restaurants, I’m happy to pay a premium to support such a great place.

Sunny weather for my trip to this iconic remote pub on the Pennine Way. Good food and great atmosphere in the characterful building. With a folk singer in the evening. Comfortable room. Taking the air by walking a few hundred yards of the Way in the evening. The pub is the centre of activity in the rugged landscape. Great views. The roads are a joy on the motorbike. A great stay!

Only one server for both bar and restaurant in the evening. She apologised for the slow service. The electrics for the bathroom all went through the main shower switch. Seemed to be the only way to get the extractor fan to stop!

Absolutely fantastic, view's, the staff, food, the atmosphere, exceptional service and the rooms are wow! Room 1 the bathroom is out of this world 😔 and could not get the Mrs out!! The views, well we wanted to see the sun set, but no we were so relaxed we were asleep! Didn't even see the sun rise as slept like babies!! Could hear a pin drop, no traffic noise just sheep!! Absolute total relaxation and recharge of our batteries, was hoping for heavy snow ❄️ but July no chance! Just wanted to be stranded, all I can say is add it to your bucket list you won't be disappointed 🤪

The location is beautiful . Very cosy feel . Lovely kind helpful manager and most of the rest of the staff were very kind and did their best to manage everyone’s expectations - the room was as per photo well decorated and nicely prepared

Overall we had a great stay however for the price the owners should pay more attention to some of the facilities in the room and maybe not allowed so many people to be offered dinner so the serving staff and chef were overwhelmed and the food choices did not run out .

Arriving by bike up the 25% hill was such an achievement and the world famous inn did not disappoint. The staff were incredibly welcoming, delivering amazing service despite a continuous stream of walkers, cyclists, dogs, bikers, visitors, and what appeared to be a small team to keep the inn running. The food was nourishing and carb loaded - perfect for hungry people. We loved the fires, the atmosphere, the pictures and stories, and the warmth of the inn community.

.That I had to have a acrimonious discussion about our accommodation. The room I booked was not what we where taken to. We had to wait till the staff served locals there lunch before we could check-in. I would suggest there a separate check-in to the restaurant where the staff over loaded with food orders . It would have been nice to be welcomed when we arrived as Hotel residents, but sadly we just stood around and had to wait till the lunch hour rush was over ... after that the staff did sort out the room situation, but why must i complain before room situation sorted , I was on a roadtrip in UK from Italy/ South Africa, And we special stop here for it had such good reviews...

Staff very friendly and work very hard as the Inn was very busy especially on Saturday night, but the staff worked very hard to accommodate everyone

Shower room/toilet shared with the bank room was also shared with people camping /campervans so it was always busy and in use. Nevertheless it was clean and a hot power shower 😊

If you have a list of places to visit in the UK this has to be on it, lovely warm friendly historical place to visit. The staff are so nice and welcoming, food was fabulous, we will definitely be back as found it very friendly and got chatting to people while enjoying a drink by the fire. Well done team Tann Hill Inn, a great place to visit and stay over x

I had a realy nice relaxing stay , met some very nice people in the bar while watching good (free) entertainment , I had a lovely evening meal & comfortable cosy night sleep followed by a delicious full english breakfast . It was my first stay at Tan Hill but definately wo'nt be my last..

Beautiful pub with amazing food. Room as lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was great the next morning.

One particular staff member was very rude and it felt like we were an imposition to her. Very unfriendly and was such a shame as we’ve been looking forward to our stay at tan hill for weeks.
