Friendliness of all staff and concern for our satisfaction and enjoyment of our stay Location of hotel , only a few minutes from Clifton bridge and downs. Lively area. Very dog friendly. Breakfast excellent. Very well cooked and served. Good choice and portions Cleanliness. Ability to get parking space outside hotel Fridge in room was very useful. Liked the new wardrobe set up in bed room, but hanging space too short. Had to hang short dresses on outside of w/robe

The bed linen. A thin quilt with loose sheet over to lie on. This moved about all night and was usually half off in the morning. Much prefer a well fitted bottom sheet. Bathroom rather tired decor and flooring, poor cutting in of painting of walls, paint over the edge of tiles making it look tatty. A waste basket in the dining room would be useful for tea bag covers etc. No where to put litter. A small chair in the bedroom would have been good.

The Rodney is situated in an excellent position right next to Clifton Village with lots of shops and restaurants and very close to Clifton Downs and the Suspension Bridge. The beautiful streets and terraces of Clifton are all around, so great for walks. The hotel has a garden at the back and, if you get there in time, parking in front of the hotel for £9.00 per night.

It's an old house, so a small double room means a room with barely enough space to walk around the bed! There's not even room for a chair. The hotel provides a little cafetiere and ground coffee in the room, which is excellent, but at breakfast the best they can do is lukewarm filtered coffee in a Thermos flask!!! This is really not good enough in this day and age.

Great location in buzzing and beautiful Clifton. Managed to find paid parking on street. Very grand Georgian exterior of the hotel. Great view from our bedroom at the back. We were warned that there were stairs up and could request a lower floor. Very clean and comfortable. Had tea, real coffee with cafetière, mini bar (no prices though) and fruit. Very nice staff. Breakfast room lovely and good selection of buffet and cooked breakfasts.

We were in the tiny top bedroom which had obviously been servants quarters, although it is understandable that everywhere in an old house should be used. But very steep back stairs. Decor of the room was bland. Could make more of the Georgian grandeur and use colours and paintings and big mirrors. Mirror over the dressing table too high to sit at and do make up. Wardrobe tiny and too low to hang a dress in.

Friendly staff who ensured we had a quiet room and a fan as we arrived on a very warm day. Perfect location, a stone’s throw from Clifton’s cafes, bars and restaurants. Lovely view from the room and comfortable mattress. The plate of fruit was a nice touch.

The parking was interesting, but we were fortunate to get a space. Glad we weren’t driving an SUV! As it’s a listed building, there’s no lift, so getting suitcases up and down stairs was a little tricky. As it was so warm, it would’ve been nice to have a sheet as opposed to a thick duvet, but only a minor inconvenience.

Excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed, good in-room facilities, very helpful desk staff. Really nice area of town. I would stay there again.

Nothing DISliked, but hotel is a bit run down. Though they mentioned lack of a lift and asked if that would be a problem, it was a steep ascent on the final leg to the top floor. Weather very hot and no air-con, but a fan was provided which was adequate. Room on the small size, but ok for purpose when I just wanted a place to sleep. No clock in room, tho I guess I could have asked for an alarm call.

Friendly and helpful welcome, very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, staff very helpful.

It was disappointing to find that neither the restaurant or the bar were open on Sunday and Monday evenings, having had a long journey it would have been good to have access to a meal. There are a number of places around the hotel but as a woman on my own I was apprehensive about going out exploring at night in a poorly lit area. I did dine at the hotel on Tuesday night, the main course was excellent (steak), the dessert was disappointing & bland and the menu was very limited for someone who still loves meat!

Second stay at The Rodney on business. Georgian period townhouse in a leafy street clise to parkland invClifton. Restaurant food is excellent, nice happy and helpful staff and conveniently placed for my places of work. Its clean and warm and is now my default option when booking a room in the Clifton area. Plus its a short walk for spectacular views from the suspension bridge. If you like the standard bland comforts of the large hotel chains, this place is probably not for you. Its old and full of character, no two rooms are the same but its got a good homely feel about it and open fires in the dining rooms

Parking is a pain but then again, that is the case with every hotel in this part of Bristol

The location was great, by a bus stop into town, near plenty of restaurants and pubs, and very close to the suspension bridge. The reception staff were great, especially Theo who was absolutely excellent. There were lots of lovely touches such as body lotion, fruit, biscuits and ground coffee, as well as tea/coffee making facilities. The room was very clean.

The hotel is in an old building and my single room was very small and right in the roof. This, coupled with the old single glazed windows, meant it was either too hot or too cold. The bed was not very comfortable either. The breakfast was lovely, but sadly I had to sit and wait for mine for over half an hour (I did get an email apology later).

I enjoyed my stay and I always find staff to be very welcoming and professional. The room was a fair size, it was comfortable and had all the equipment and facilities I would expect. The breakfast was nice and relaxed atmosphere.

I reported that the shower appeared to be leaking although it didn't really affect my stay. I always find the hotel to be very warm but with the windows open this helped. Parking can sometimes be tricky but the staff are very helpful in assisting with resolving any issues.
