Suncliff Hotel - OCEANA COLLECTION

Excellent location on cliffs above the sea front - around 5-7 min walk from the main pier, also walking distance from the train station (~20 min), so no need for a taxi or coach. Friendly and polite staff. Residents can visit the outdoor swimming pool at the neighbouring hotel, but also there are facilities available inside - indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym, receptionists provide towels.

The hotel building itself is pretty old, so walls and furniture are worn. Very few available sockets in the room making it impossible to charge phones and use other appliances (such as hair dryer) at the same time. Walls are thin, so you can sometimes hear your neighbours if they are talking loud. These are just minor cons which however do not spoil the overall positive impression.

I was pleased there was a swimming pool and sauna and that there was a bar and restaurant, the staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean and tidy although some of the paintwork and decoration was in need of renewal. My room 110 had a very nice bathroom and was quite roomy with a sea view too.

The parking fee of £12 per day was a very upsetting insult, we didn't expect it for free but £12 is London prices this upset up greatly. Also the building works on the changing room for the pool at the height of the summer was a pretty poor idea who on earth thought about doing that, as a project manager that is a completely silly plan.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and it all felt like it was done with ease. Nothing was too much trouble, as we travelled with a few children staff allowed us to eave luggage at the facility before our check in time to enable us time to explore the areas freely without carting cases with us, the added and unexpected bonus was our luggage was in our room waiting for us us when we checked in, a truly wonderful say made all the better by the staff and freedom to use sister hotels next door for a change of scenery when swimming etc..we WILL definitely be returning, thanks you,

Perfectly located just above the main beaches, with an excellent sea view My single room had a window overlooking the sea from the third floor. It was clean and well prepared , with all the usual room amenities and a very comfortable bed. TV and internet was available. I had expected the hotel to be quite noisy, but it was peaceful while I was there, and very quiet through the night. The staff were well presented, helpful and polite, both in reception and the dining room. The dining room was very clean and well prepared, with plenty of tables available. I only had a breakfast during my stay and it was well worth the £12.50 added to my bill. It was a buffet service, which was well displayed with just about everything one could wish for on the menu. The English breakfast was the full spectrum feast and was probably the best I have found in nearly 50 years of business travel all over the world.

Parking could be a challenge, but there were spaces at the back of the hotel which are not immediately obvious.

There was parking. Available for £12 per day which was still valid for me until 3pm the next day. The reception staff were absolutely lovely and so friendly and helpful. The room was perfect. Clean, spacious & comfortable. The facilities were great. We were given fresh towels and used the swimming pool which had a shallow end and tropical shower. We were also allowed to use the outdoor pool of the sister hotel next door if we wished. The view of the ocean was gorgeous. The distance into town was a reasonable walk or there's a bus stop directly outside the hotel with buses every hour. On a Friday night during summer months you can see the firework display from the pier. We played Pool in the bar area which was showing the football too & had an outdoor area where we watched the sun set. Check out time was 11am which gave us time for another swim in the morning. Absolutely perfect stay x

Staff were lovely. I was allowed to carry a coffee, from LGF, up to ground level bar & lounge after evening meal. This helped me feel welcome. Although this is a small example, it typifies the attitude of staff towards me. I find this important, as it feels welcoming. Thank you; please encourage your staff to encourage this considerate approach. Also, the bedlinen was clean (& room smelt clean) which is not always the situation I have found elsewhere. I was given a side sea view. Thank you. I had asked for one but had been told, at booking, that a sea view was not available so, I am grateful that your system remembered that I had asked. I would stay again, & I will recommend the hotel.

The lift! I think you only have one lift? Tricky when a queue is waiting, especially at meal times and when the lift is being used to carry a pile of luggage from a coach group! Small, & waiting time can seem a long time. The staff member, who was lifting the coach luggage into the lift, was apologetic and kind, though. The waits were long, though.

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and clean. Room fairly quiet and as a solo lady felt safe. Overlooking the sea in a quiet area although I didnt have a Seaview from room, I only had to walk a cross the road. Parking was busy 1st night but can park 9pm to 9am free on the road outside. And parking fee was weived for the 3 day stay so that was considerate. Used the lovely indoor pool on the last morning. Relaxing swim before travelling home. A good base for visiting Christchurch headland walk, Sandbanks ferry to Studland beautiful beaches and nature reserve area, Boscombe seafront, good shopping area.

Hot water far too hot! Temp could be lower to wash without mixing and save energy costs. Ate out either in sister hotel next door as there didn't seem to be a breakfast or snack area when i needed it. Or ate while out.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the shower was nice. Hotel WiFi was fast and reliable with great coverage across the hotel and outside on the veranda. The breakfast buffet had a good range of options, and all items were good quality. I only stayed one night for an event nearby - but the hotel's location is perfect for anyone looking for a beach holiday. Bournemouth Centre was an easy 20 minutes away, too. Reception and bar areas were well kept. Bed was comfy enough, and there was a tower fan available to keep cool at night.

The hotel is getting on a bit. Nothing major, but the corridors to the rooms are not ageing well - peeling wallpaper, old fittings/feel. My room was very small and smelt stale. The toilet seat was a bit loose (it slid from side to side). There was no AC, and the window was hard to open and close... and it only opened a small bit at the top, so I couldn't get a breeze into the room to help with the heat and stale smell.

The View from our balcony was exceptional! ( room name Zara) We paid a bit extra for it and the view was worth it. The room decor was basic but it was very clean and we had a good night sleep as there was no noise. Bathroom was clean and a good size. Aircon unit worked really well. Overall very pleased ( we didn't use the hotel facilities but they looked ok)

The room decor was basic and a bit dark. The bed mattress had a dip in the middle and was very soft. However the room was spacious and very clean with a great view so we were very happy with it overall

We had an amazing experience when staying at the hotel. The location, old but slightly renovated and clean rooms, easy check-in and check-out, nice swimming pool and sauna, attentive and pleasant stuff and tasty full English breakfast were the points that made our stay comfortable. Also should mention that at the pub a burger is a must-try, one of the best ever😍

The only things we didn't like were that there were too little sachets of toiletries at the bathroom, but as far as we asked for some more, the porter brought them within 5 min, which once again shows the great service. One more thing to mention, were the strange spots on the pillowcases, though they were definitely washed&ironed (probably it'd be better just to change the linen with the spots that can't be washed away). And the presence of fresh fruits instead of weird marinated at the breakfast would make it a way better. All the rest was great👍
