Breakfast was the tastiest porridge I’ve ever had!!!! Amazing!!!

The room heard late arrivals with child next door, very loud! Tried to sleep but kept screaming & constant crying! The door in the corridor k Edit banging or swinging back n forth so heard that! The taxi we booked arrived later than should of very annoyed as I also had to chase up my lunch and eat it so quickly so I wasn’t late for taxi…. So didn’t enjoy lunch as much as I wanted and when it did arrive, was mainly iceberg lettuce with bits of chicken lots of croutons thrown into plate with Parmesan. The cappuccino wasn’t hot either! Than to top it off wasps were flying around so guess there was a nest nearby?!

Beautiful venue and estate. Food and drinks were exceptional. Service was good in the daytime. Bed very comfy. Standard double rooms were very big, lovely touch.

Room was unbearably hot, we had to request an extra fan for the room. Couldn't sleep properly due to the heat. Cold tap in bathroom dispersed warm water and never actually got cold. Room service was very very slow. We waited 45 minutes for three glasses of Prosecco. Bar service late in the evening/night was mediocre, slightly frosty service from some of the barmaids but they had been working 12 hours at that point.

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds. The building is lovely and well-looked-after. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and service was excellent. The hotel hosts a number of interesting activities. Whilst we stayed there was an outdoor cinema. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we didn’t make the most of that but, had it been a warm evening, it would have been lovely. The bar and restaurant are both great too. The spa treatments were wonderful too! Well worth a visit.

Unfortunately the Wi-Fi wasn’t reliable and the shower pressure in the room wasn’t great. Otherwise, loved it.

A very pleasant stay - comfortable bed, clean rooms, good food, and good service. Some areas of the hotel are really charming with an 'English country house' feel. There are plenty of facilities here, and if we had more time we would have made better use of them (e.g. steam room).

Some parts of the hotel could do with a little 'spruce up' to bring it up to 5* standard. The rooms had a faint smell of stale smoke, and I noticed signage asking people not to smoke, so suspect this may hev been an issue in the past. It didn't spoil our enjoyment, but explains why I haven't rated this excellent.

Beautiful setting and lovely building and decor. All staff were very helpful and kind. Lovely Espa toiletries in our lovely large room.

The bed was too firm for us personally. Due to my disability a softer bed or memory foam for example Tempur would be better for my pain. The wardrobe wasn’t tall enough to fit my long dress. I find most hotels are the same though so didn’t complain. Found a solution by hanging it in the bathroom. Driveway needs smoothing. Very painful driving up.

Quality of food good. Speed of service ok. Room and facilities fine but biscuits not always replaced. Comfortable bar and lounge. Good outside terrace. Grounds good to stroll in. Good car parking. Staff helpful with luggage. Friendly reception.

Restaurant service seemed to have some inexperienced staff, Finished plates not cleared at breakfast. Breakfast plates stupidly big for small tables for two. Salt and Peper not on table some times. Milk on centre console missing. Asked for specifics ie 2 sausages but got one and 1 hash brown got two. Leaving store room door at end of corridor open all day so walk down nice corridor looking at stacks of chairs.

I know Down Hall as I walk my dog there often, the location is amazing and the facilities are excellent. I had a dog friendly room as I brought my Westie with me and he loved his welcome box of a tennis ball, treats and dog food. Your staff are incredible, especially Kevin who works i the Fox Bar and The Terrace and also Sharon from Housekeeping. Slight difficulty checking out but your staff were amazing and dealt with everything so well. Loved the outdoor cinema too!

I loved the breakfast, the location in 110 acres also the dinner was really good.

What would have been better if we didn't have to go outside to a separate building to go and have treatment. It would have been much better if you could have walked through the building to ur treatment area. It's not good after u have had treatment to be stepping out in the cold again.

Lovely building and grounds. The rooms were clean and comfortable and despite being located at the top of the stairs up from reception we didn’t get disturbed by noise as the double door was good sound proofing. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great.

The staff in the restaurant were all great, but the food seemed quite over priced. The food we had at dinner was nice but not incredible so seemed very expensive for what it was.

Old fashioned place

The fact there are no lifts and stair cases bordering on dangerous with the sharp twists and turns not good if like me your asthmatic!the room we had the blind failed to work couldn’t close the curtains due to the heat we needed ventilation All the electrical items fridge and lights turned off at plugs the TV obscured the only decent mirror in the room A very uncomfortable night spent in a stuffy room!
