Woodlands Hotel

The breakfast was just what we wanted, and cooked very well. The rooms were spotless as was the shower rooms which were almost brand new. Our rooms were at the back, so extremely quiet and overlooking the garden and car. It was worth climbing the many stairs to get to them. The beds were very comfortable. The parking was perfect - lots of room, and locked for security at night. Staff were helpful, kind and cheerful. The lady owner was able to book us a taxi and advise about buses and restaurants. A great place to stay - we would go back there.

There were a lot of stairs to our rooms but well worth it for the quiet. This hotel is not close to the city centre but there are frequent buses. These 2 points would not stop us staying here again.

Good sized rooms. We were visiting Birmingham to spend some time with our son. The hotel was ideally located, with onsite parking, located around the back of the building. I didn't really want to drive around town spending time looking for parking. So we got a taxi from the hotel into town, was just over £8 which I thought was OK, same for when we returned to hotel after our long day out. Breakfast was included and it was lovely. Overall, a clean, tidy hotel, with lovely staff. Perfect as a base for your stay.

The beds weren't very comfy. They felt lovely when 1st got in, as was so tired and aching from our long day out. But all 3 of us woke during the night not being able to get comfy and was difficult to get back to sleep. We were in a family room, with a good sized double bed for my husband and I and a single for our daughter.

The welcome was good. The room was lovely and clean. I loved the murals on the walls. . Breakfast was good and the restaurant area clean and bright and beautifully laid out, staff were polite and helpful. . The location was perfect for us. Easy to find, with a carpark at the back of the property. We were able to get a bus to the city centre with no problem. All in all a lovely stay.

There wasn't much to dislike, the only minor thing was the street lamp was right outside the window, and because it was warm we had the window open so had some traffic noise through the night. Neither of those things can be controlled by the hotel.

The rooms were clean and neat the bathrooms are newly done and modern. The bed was firm and comfortable with a decent duvet. The rooms had fridges in them and a telephone, although the deco was not modern the room were comfortable. booking in was quick easy and really cool with the cheerful staff. Breakfast was lovely, relaxing with brilliant help from the very friendly staff.

The lighting was really low and as women the lighting was really bad putting on makeup. Woman tend to get dressed with the curtain shut and you could hardly see. I saw this mentioned when I was booking and the light in the passage was was 1) off 2) so low it was off putting. Also mentioned was the low water pressure, this greatly reduced the bathing experience.

Comfortable rooms booked at short notice after our booking with a Ibis hotels was cancelled at 04:30 the morning we were due to arrive. Very accommodating hosts and pleasant garden to sit and have a beer after a long journey. Very good value for money and in future will try to book here for travels to Birmingham.

Although the showers were seemed new, the water pressure was quite low but this was only a minor inconvenience and did not distract from a good stay.

Owner/manager friendly and welcoming on arrival. On site free parking available. Room clean, neat and tidy, serviced every day. Full English breakfast cooked to order available every day Although located on a busy route into Birmingham, the rooms to the rear are all very quiet and peaceful.

Located a little way out of the city so away from attractions in the Centre (however regular buses stopping just outside minimise this inconvenience). No evening meals available so had to arrange to eat elsewhere.

Woodlands Hotel is well situated slightly setback on the main road with buses for easy access to the centre. It has secure car parking. Breakfast room is large and comfortable and included breakfast is very good value and well prepared. Rooms are on 3 floors, Ground, 1st and 2nd. Traffic is fast and at times heavy, so a ground floor room which faces the road, might be noisy if you have windows opened. If not, the hotel is well sound-proofed. Ask for a rear room for absolute certainty of a quiet night - the manager is very helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable and cleaned each day, bathrooms/shower rooms are modern. As far as I could see, all rooms and reception rooms are nicely decorated. The one negative is lack of a lift. to the upper floors.

The hotel was very good. The room was cleaned every day. There was fridge, hair dryer, fast wi fi, electric kettle, cups (and every days tea bags, coffee, milk, sugar) in our room and the bedside lamp turned on and off very interesting. The bathroom was modern. We could open window, what is impossible in many hotels in England. The room didn't smell musty - this is a big plus!

There were a few small hairs on bedlines, but generally it was clean. The mattresses were very soft. All other things were ok.

Easy check in and check out. Good sized room with mini fridge. Nice pillows. Cleaners kept things tidy. Modern bathroom. Secluded parking included, that is locked overnight. Tesco express store across the road. Less than a minute's walk too bus stop with 10 minute journey to city centre. Short walk to some great restaurants.

Older property with steep stairs. Soundproofing in room was awful. Weak water pressure. Plug sockets in awkward places. No USB outlets.

All the staff I came across were really nice and told me everything I needed to know. Good room, I like the chair it gave a good alternative option to just sitting on the bed

I read the reviews before I stayed so I expected to be able to hear other guests, but there's not anything they can do about that. The room I stayed in was round a corner and it was quite dark down the corridor, maybe a little lamp would be good? Otherwise okay :)
