Wonderful place to stay, very helpful staff / owners, great they had their own carpark as parking in the free part of the street is limited, Had an evening meal which was lovely, Breakfast this morning was really good too, served by the owners I think, Very attentive. Bedroom was large and clean. we had bedroom No2, sash windows on the main street but quiet when closed. Bed was very comfortable and large (I'm 6'2" tall) nice touches like biscuits, cotton wool and buds, extra milk pods and toiletries included. would definitely stay again. great location too. Nice butchers a couple of doors down and a fruit & veg shop which seemed to stock everything.

I Couldn't find a single fault with stay, brilliantly run and lovely input from owners at breakfast time.

Excellent stay in a location where we needed to be to be able to attend an event. This was sensible no-frills but beautifully presented accommodation in a busy pub which had an excellent kitchen. Breakfasts, which were individually prepared remarkably quickly, were made from excellent local ingredients and were very tasty - we tasted our way through most of the options in our three days. The restaurant itself, in which we ate on our first evening, was not at all pretentious but its menu was excellently served (I would highly recommend the twice-cooked brisket in port and red wine sauce). The staff were all very considerate and caring and we were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay.

Everything was good for us. Not having a lift would make it difficult for guests with mobility issues.

The location was very central. As we arrived late on Saturday afternoon and stayed until Sunday we were able to use a parking disc. The host provided this upon check in. Unfortunately we arrived at a really bad time for them. It was just before the start of the England rugby game and the host was serving at the bar. However nothing was too much trouble and she showed us to our rooms (we had three, party of 5, all together on the top floor). Loved the extras of tissues, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, cotton wool, soap. There was a hairdryer and an excellent tea/coffee tray with biscuits. Everything was very clean. Great breakfast. Lovely coffee, plenty of toast, tea and coffee (a cafetière). Lovely yogurt, cereals and juice. Couldn’t ask for anything more, very attentive friendly hosts. Lovely hot food. We ate in the dining room on Saturday night. The food was freshly cooked and homemade. Only had main courses, however food had by other diners looked good too. I took a birthday cake for my daughter and we were allowed to eat it in the restaurant which was really kind of the hosts.

The single room would benefit from blind and/or thicker curtains. Can’t think of another thing.

Christine, Johnny and their staff were the perfect hosts. We rang ahead to find out details of the parking and were given spot-on information. Our arrival was also very warm, welcoming and fuss-free. We had a meal mid-afternoon and have to say, it was one of the best meals my husband and I have had - freshly cooked and excellently presented. We made sure we gave our compliments to the Chef. Our stay was on New Year's Eve and though we're not from the area and didn't know anyone, we were made to feel very welcome - especially by Christine, who made sure everyone (including the staff) were enjoying themselves. Our room was lovely - spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and perfect size. Breakfast was the perfect end to our stay! Honestly, I can't recommend The Green Dragon enough

Absolutely nothing

Walking into The Green Dragon was a little worrying at first. The bar was extremely busy and noisy. My original thought was that it was a little overwhelming. However, that soon changed. Although very busy, a member of staff booked us in within two or three minutes and showed us to our room relaying all the important information we would need for our stay. She was most helpful. The room was lovely, tastefully decorated, well equipped and immaculately clean. Lovely comfortable bed, great walk in shower and no shortage of tea/coffee making facilities or toiletries. Everything we could want for our stay. We ate in the restaurant. The best steak we had had in many years, cooked to perfection. The staff were wonderful. Breakfast was lovely too. Good quality ingredients cooked to perfection. I even noted the presence of a jar of Marmite! My favourite accompaniment to toast....my husbands nemesis! 😂

If I was pushed for an answer it might be that because our room was above the bar and front door there was the faintest smell of cigarette smoke lingering in the curtains from when windows were open. Also the sound of smokers beneath the window chatting rather loudly. Though to be honest they didn't bother us, we were so tired and contented it didn't annoy us in the least.

Central location in the market town and run by very friendly people. They went the extra mile to accommodate my dietary requirements and when I asked for my water bottles to be filled up with iced water each day before going out that was no problem. Great breakfast selection too.

Nothing bad about the property but maybe the local bus companies could think about running later buses not just for tourists but for locals too as 18:30 to and from a major town is quite early for a last bus. But as for the people and the property itself keep doing what you’re doing!

A super place to stay in a great location to explore the Yorkshire Dales. The Green Dragon was a friendly pub with newly refurbished rooms which offer every comfort, especially the shower which was amazing! The breakfast was top class with superb local produce and very tasty. A great start for a busy day exploring the local area. We ate in the pub 2 nights and the food was lovely and great value for money. We also took part in the weekly quiz which was great fun! So many local attractions to visit. We went to Richmond Castle, Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, Wensleydale Cheese Factory, Aysgarth Falls, Middleham Castle and Jervaulx Abbey to name a few. There is also a wonderful local bakery across the road to buy goodies for lunch if you can manage it. Highly recommended, we hope to return one day.

A lovely pub/hotel. Staff extremely welcoming, polite and friendly. The breakfast and especially the evening meals that we had were exceptional. Our room was cozy, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated. The bar area had a nice atmosphere, a good choice of drinks. Busy, even on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon/evening with visitors and locals.

Because it was very hot we had the windows open and the extractor flue was a little noisy. If the windows were closed we would not have been aware. Definitely would not stop us staying at the Green Dragon again.

I liked everything! The location to where I was attending (5 miles from Philip Kirby Racing stables). Location within Bedale - right in the middle of the Main Street. The staff were excellent, as was the room, and the food - both breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. I couldn’t fault this place at all (and I’m usually quite picky!). Loved my entire stay (3 days/2 nights), would totally recommend.

Great location right in the middle of the High Street. After a long journey it was good to have somewhere that serves food so we didn't need to go out again. For the record, the food is great too. Best of all was a very comfy bed for the night and a decent shower in the morning.

Parking on the High Street could be a bit tricky, but I'm being picky. We just waited till around 6pm when the shops closed and moved the cars right outside the pub. So not a complaint at all, and no reflection on the Green Dragon.
