Hotel Relax 5

Hotel is a short 5-8mins walk from Taipei Main station. Shower and toilet facilities are modern and new. Staff were welcoming and helpful in answering queries.

The underground mall can be quite confusing for first timer. And taking the Z exits mean a taking a long flight of stairs to ground level with no escalator or elevator. I would suggest skipping the underground mall and just take the exit directly opposite Caesar Park Taipei/YMCA. Single room is slightly too small for a luggage to be fully opened and yet comfortably maneuver around the room. Cleanliness is considered above average but I found some hairs on the table.

free coffee, refillable water, good location - just a straight bee line to airport mrt and 15 mins relaxed pace walk to main station, there's 7/11 and family mart near the hotel, it's also near the bus stop for the Roosevelt line that that will stop by maokong gondola, helpful staff - you can leave your luggage before check-in no questions asked, decent soundproofing - some noise may creep in from the traffic outside, but it did not disrupt my sleep at all, I don't remember hearing any noise from the other guests as well, hotel also has 2 elevators

the hotel will pre-charge 50% of the total room rate as a security deposit and will return/refund the charge 10-15 days after checkout

This is my fourth stay at a Relax property and my second at Relax 5. It is a fabulous location and right in the heard of access to the main station Ximending, and a ton of great places to eat.

Opt for the larger room if you can - even if you are a solo traveler.

The hotel was located only a few min walking from the main station. Plenty of shops around, bakeries, 7-eleven, pharmacy, etc. The reception was relatively small but the room had a decent size. I liked it as soon as I entered. The bed was very comfy, the linen was super soft and lightweight, I had a really good sleep there. The bathroom had a shower, a vanity and a toilet with heated seat (i just love those). Shampoo and body wash were provided from a dispenser but no hair conditioner. Tea-kettle, safe, slippers, a snack bar, bottled water and also two cans of coke were provided, plus I got a reusable shopping bag as a gift at the reception, I was amazed. I also like the fact that the hotel was environmental friendly, no room service unless you stay ay least 4 nights or pay extra. To be honest, I don't like wasting towels as some other hotels do, so I was happy to use the same one while I stayed for three nights at Relax 5.

I had a little language barrier at the reception as not everybody spoke fluent English. At the end, we all understood each other but it is something they might want to improve. Overall, I was still very happy and definitely would stay there again.

The location is great, on walking distance from the main station of Taipei. Easy to get there from the airport. Staff was helpfull and friendly. Beds were soft and confortable. Bathroom was not the biggest one, but had a very powerfull shower, loved it. As far as i know the dont serve breakfast, but enough food options in the surrounding and buy something the evening before. The room has a big TV screen close to the bed with some English language channels.

The size of the room is not the biggest i've seen, but that does not matter for one night.

Location is near the train station. Many popular eateries around the hotel. There's a pepper cake opposite the hotel. The stall always have long queue. Manager n staff are super friendly n accomodative n for that we'll definitely stay in this hotel again.

The standard room is very small, not much space to put our 2 luggages. Bed is not so comfortable, u will tend to slip down fm the bed if u sit at the edge of the bed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Relax 5. The staff had good English skills & were extremely friendly & helpful, especially Orlando. As expected, our small double room on 2nd floor was very compact, but we loved the wall of windows overlooking a bustling, vibrant street. A small window could even be opened for fresh air. The bed was against the wall on both sides but we had two pillows each! The wifi worked well & everything was very clean. Getting here from Taoyuan airport is so simple & cheap. MRT runs from both terminals direct to a quieter separate MRT Taipei station & only costs 150 TWD ($A7.50). Tickets can easily be bought at counter, not machine! Rapid train saves about half an hour travel time for same price. Go out exit 4 (or 3 if it’s still closed) for closest exit to hotel. We are happy this hotel provides free filtered water for refills to cut down on environmental problems of plastic. A machine with delicious coffee is near reception. The convenient location is perfect - a short walk to airport MRT, train & MRT station & bus station. Day trips are easy from here & there are so many places to visit. A night market is about 15 minutes walk away & in another direction we came across Chinatown. We would stay here again but book a bigger room if staying longer.

As you cannot put anything under the bed, this small room would be very crowded if you have large suitcases.

Location was great, a few minutes walk from the main train station. Eating places and convenience stores right next to the hotel. Laundry facilities were useful and staff were helpful.

The hotel is a new build and every wall was black, this gave the hotel a very dark vibe. There was no natural light in the hallways and it made the place look like a dungeon. Seriously, who paints everything black? There was no cleaning as it was an eco friendly hotel so if you wanted fresh towels, you had to request them, the room was not cleaned during the 3 nights we were there.

Great location. The hotel is near the Taipei Main Station (5-min walk) and has several restaurants around (for milk tea, pork buns, beef noodles, etc.). The amenities are more than sufficient, and the bed was very comfortable. The room has a window, with a good view of the streets. There is a free locker for storing luggage after checkout.

The room is small, with limited luggage space/ clothes rack. Late checkout is subject to a payment of the full price (no option for a pro-rated fee even if the room will be vacant).

Overall just a very nice place. Clean and comfy. Good soundproofing. I originally booked this place because I thought it was close to a metro exit (Z10). An while it is indeed close to that exit, you actually have to walk through a strip mall to get to and from the trains. Overall not that bad (better than navigating traffic) but still an extra 10-15 minutes you'll have to plan for. Also the Z10 exit only had stairs :( The good part though is that there is tasty food in the strip mall :)

The rooms are quite compact (or at least the one we booked). That was pretty much expected and didn't really factor in my overall review personally, but might be something other people want to keep in mind.
