Hotel Metropol

Perfect location opposite the train station, but very quiet at night. I slept very well, and was grateful for the air conditioning. A very nice, large bathroom. I enjoyed the breakfast, the wifi worked fine. I'd happily stay here again.

My only issue was that the front desk wasn't staffed at all times. In the evening, to check in or if there was a problem, I had to speak to a very nice lady in the adjoining restaurant, who was very helpful but busy doing her own job. I felt a little vulnerable when there wasn't anyone on reception to contact if I'd had a problem in the middle of the night, for example.

For those traveling by train there could hardly be a better choice than this property. It is directly across the street from the St. Gallen Hbf while only two short blocks from the stunningly beautiful and interesting Old Town. The breakfast was quite a bit nicer and varied than other breakfasts we experienced in Switzerland. The room was on the smaller size yet well appointed and quiet. The low price was a welcomed change from the rest of pricey Switzerland.

The lobby is nothing to write home about, but in the end that doesn't matter all that much. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location right next to the station and close to the old town. Delicious breakfast in classy restaurant. Our toddler was accommodated in the room and at breakfast with a highchair. The staff are lovely and so kind!

There isn’t a lounge area where one can go to rest if you don’t wish to be in your room. We brought our stroller and the room was a bit small to accommodate it. Recommend bringing a carry backpack instead.

The hotel is literally in front of the station. Location doesn't get any better than this. I traveled for work so for that kind of trip it was perfect.

The breakfast lady was not really nice to me. Next day I decided to not have breakfast there to avoid her being rude again. She was nice to some french speakers group though, so maybe she didn't like that I assumed she spoke english? I wouldn't know.

Nice, modern hotel. Location is right across from the central station, which is convenient for people arriving by train. Also relatively close to the St. Gallen monastery. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast with a nice view of the city.

Elevator a bit small. Construction work going on in the lobby. But no big deal.

Very friendly staff, quiet despite the central location, great breakfast location and good breakfast, very good Wi-Fi everywhere, excellent location right at St. Gallen main station.

Bathroom was disability-friendly (which is great in principle), but slightly cumbersome when used standing up.

corner room with view on train and bus station, so the mornings was quite loud, simple breakfast (could be more hot dishes) , contacts in room was not friendly located (to far from the desk)

Breakfast was good and just sufficient. The coffee on the 1st wasn’t so great (maybe because it was given in a pot) but excellent on the 2nd (made fresh each time a request was made). There was a pleasant surprise on our arrival…a little box of chocolates and a card (we arrived on our wedding anniversary)…. it was a nice gesture by the hotel’s Manager. Excellent location with close proximity to the train station and bus stop.

No drinking water in the room (bottled water); it’s not a big cost I’d imagine. No kettle to boil water Our window was facing the street and the train station/bus stop so it was at times noisy. The cold cuts at breakfast were not so fresh

We wanted a queen size bed & the hotel managed to accommodate us. The room was spacious and the amenities was great. The breakfast the staff was friendly & accommodating. There still could be a better variety with regards to breakfast. We stayed only 1 night as it was good value for money. Thanks

Proximity to the Train station , clean

No outlets near the bed to charge electronics. Motion sensor light is activated each time one enters the bathroom. Not good if sharing a room when it goes in in the middle of the night. many cable channels. Not one, however in English, while other languages were available
