Hotel Splendide Royal

Breakfast excellent. Varied. Tasty

On the website the picture of the hotel is of a grand residence. They don’t show you the utilitarian block next to the grand residence. This is where we stayed But not withstanding was a very positive experience. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is one of the historical hotels in Lugano , there are two buildings both are nice but represent two different eras the staff is super friendly and helpful , always available. their concierge Giovanni is one of the best concierge i met in my travels . the view from the balcony is amazing , you will not regret it.

in general the hotel was great , except for the following few things which was not what we expect from a 5. Star hotel charging +400 CHF per night 1- the breakfast was light , they charge you extras for ordering eggs 2- the also charge you for the parking fee, as a guest payment high rates , i don’t think they should charge their guest i stayed in couple of 5 stars hotels in Switzerland and non of them charges for parking 3-chromcast function in the tv was not functioning

Lo Staff is perfect, very kind at the check in and check out. Nice breakfast, the service was good and all the staff is very professional and friendly. The room was very clean. Perfect service. The hotel is very clean and the staff very professional.

The room 111 was clean and nice but with a bad exposure, no privacy. It was not possible to open the window because in the back there are works for the new fitness area, and there was an outdoor breakroom for the staff right by the window. This room was in the same side of service rooms and I do not think should be given to guests. The spa, fitness area are very small. The swimming pool could be an hydomassage but it is not big enough to be called swimming pool.

-The staff are amazing. they take care of you the moment you arrive , and they remembered me and my room number . -The view in the room is mesmerizing. having dinner in the terrace is an absolute must ! - The room is nicely decorated with coffee machine and all the facilities needed .

- The breakfast was just average. The pastries were not fresh. The cake was a bit too sweet. - The glass door if the terrace is not soundproof at all. when i arrived there was some air entering to the room which they fixed immediately but this didn't stop all the noise . Luckily i managed to sleep by opening the AC fan to mask the noise. - If you need a supermarket or other facilities , you may need to walk a bit , though its within 10 minutes. City center is 15-20 min walk.

The hotel is a very chic , classic and iconic hotel with amazing views , Terrace and restaurants. Definitely one of the best in Lugano. However there are some flaws that definitely need attention

There is only one elevator in our side of the hotel and it’s very old and feels unsafe. The shower is not comfortable at all since it’s not a shower cabin but it’s rather a shower in a very small bath tub which is even difficult to stand up comfortably in it not to mention the low pressure in the shower . The reception staff needs to smile more . Breakfast staff were very nice except for one Italian guy who was very rude and yelled at us when I asked him to expedite my order and his manager came and apologized ..

This hotel is located very conveniently to shopping and restaurants.

Great hotel! We stayed for 4 nights and we were very pleased. The building itself is very beautiful and it's just by the lake, offering wonderful views from our room, the breakfast/dining room and from the sun deck. Ou room was very spacious, with a nice balcony, and the bathroom was also very good. Everything was very clean. The breakfast buffet offer was also excellent. The staff was very busy but, nevertheless, they were all very welcoming and efficient. There's an exterior parking and a garage, but we had no issues with parking outside (20 CHF per night). The swimming pool was also lovely and the sun deck amazing, especially since you're facing the lake. Although there was a minor hiccup when we first arrived to our room and with our luggage, the staff quickly found a solution and greated us with a complementary bottle of champagne, sweets and snacks, which we found very nice of them. Overall, we were extremely pleased and we highly recommend this hotel! And we thank all the staff for the wonderful time we spent here.

Everything was excellent.

The hotel itself is historical and stunning, with amazing facilities and a luxurious feel. However, the staff takes this hotel to a whole other level. The service and hospitality provided is second to none!

It is a slightly longer journey to areas around Lake Como, and taxis are not easy to find to take you back from areas like Bellagio. However, plan in advance or book a return taxi and you’ll find it easy!

Amazing hotel, loved everything about it, quite a quirky hotel with interesting decor, lots of superb food (bread is incredible, baked goods such as croissant), brilliant service - everything was pretty much perfect. The room was really nice, the location is excellent. Haven’t really stayed anywhere quite like it.

A few really minor things at breakfast - the smoked salmon was too thick, and wasn’t too keen on the meat selection, prefer thinly sliced salami - thought it would be incredible as we ate at the hotel restaurant last year for the seven course mealand the food was impeccable!

If you are into nostalgia, you will love the vibe of the hotel. It is 134 years old so you will get the feeling of travelling back into 1880. Of course there were several renovations, so you have a very nice bathroom and comfortable bed. The staff was super friendly and professional even in English. Their gestures made our stay happier. Having a dinner at the hotel's restaurant is an experience itself. The lighting, the service and of course the delicious food. We will visit them again!

If you are a traveller with a lot of gadgets (e.g. phone, iPad, Macbook, Watch) you might find it challenging to charge all your devices, because there are not so many plugs.
