Hotel City Inn Basel

The room was comfy with air con available. There was plenty of lighting and sufficient space for my items The bathroom was a good size too. Staff were helpful, even checking on their own accord to see if there was a room on the first floor instead of second floor as the lift goes to odd floors not even. I was catered to and that was very kind.

The mattress wasn’t fully comfortable. The room itself was also on the smaller side. It wouldn’t be somewhere to stay inside for a rainy day; you’d still want to get out as it’s cramped. The sheet on the mattress also kept coming off as it’s a flat sheet instead of fitted, so most of the night, it was sliding around when I moved. The outside of the hotel is very dingy looking with no sign or logo for specific hotel names. Perhaps if there was better signage to clearly show which hotels are inside the entrance, that would be helpful. Perhaps some investment into improving the entry way would go a long way as well into the overall feel of the place.

Quite hard to find. Even though the property is located on the plaza outside the train station, the bigger sign is for a different hotel. You need to look carefully for the smaller sign indicating the common front desk for multiple properties.

Similar to an Ibis hotel, neat, clean, pleasant, all the basics that you need, nothing more, nothing less. You know what to expect, no disappointment. Ideal for transit stays. Especially because it's right next to the train station, where the bus to the airport stops. It was all we needed.

Well, the room was quite hard to find, felt like a labyrinth (there were 3 hotels combined somehow together), and some floors did not have elevators. If you have a heavy suitcase, that could be a nuissance. The room was a bit small, but no big deal, everything else was fine.

We got the room with a double bed and a sofa bed, which is perfect for a family with two children. Our favorite part was a very large shower with side sprinklers and chromotherapy, the kids loved taking a shower there! The position close to the station was very good.

The sofa bed had not been made when we arrived. They made it after we asked. It was not comfortable at all. The normal bed was comfortable though.

Excellent location as it’s right beside the main train station and tram interchange making it easy to get to anywhere in the city. Just what you need if you’re travelling on a budget as this is priced better than most hotels in the city centre. Friendly and helpful staff and also a nice breakfast which is on the 8th with stunning city views.

It’s not a dislike but the inside of the hotel was like a rabbit warren. Bit tricky to find your room, especially after a few refreshments.

The CityInn is an annex to more expensive hotels a stone's throw from the main train station of Basel. You check in and then follow a bit of a well-marked maze to the rooms which are modern, functional, comfortable, and set up very well. Out the window, I did look directly into apartments across the way, but the curtains provide good privacy and the bed is very comfortable. There was a pianist playing on the front porch on arrival and there is a Starbucks if like me you haven't been to one in a few years, on the side of the building for takeaway lunch for an early train. My AC did not work and the reception quickly moved me to a vacant room on the same hall.

NA, even with broken AC, which happens and was immediately resolved.

Good location for train station and trams. Free passes for trams. Comfortable bed. Markthalle for food. Basel is a lovely city and easy to get around.

Check in for City Inn is in another hotel in next street. You then walk through hotel, down a corridor to lift which takes you to City Inn. Felt a bit like the poor relation but you get used to it 😃

Was a compact room but very tall! Bathroom was spot on tidy and neat! The shower was powerful and was a treat to have a nice warm shower before departure! This made my morning. I felt fresh! Very close to the station!the city centre is just walking distance but lots of neat connectivity with the tram services! Excellent

Quite a lengthy walk from the hotel main reception area to the actual room. Took me around 4 minutes.

It was my second stay in 10 days so I knew what to expect, however, I'll never book a single room again. They're tiny and if they could make the bathroom smaller I'm sure they would. The room was on the top floor (no lift) so it was quiet. It was small, clean and comfortable. The reception staff was nice and professional.

If you're in the rooms 521-537 - there is no lift to these rooms - only stairs (two flights) so you'll have to drag your bags up, which many did and the stairs got very noisy.

everything was okay, check-in/out was very easy, there were tea/coffee facilities at our disposal, very close to the train station and the centre

It has nothing to do with the hotel and is definitely not their fault, but our windows were looking out a very small narrow street, which should be quite, but it was very loud at night, it was impossible to sleep.
