Los Dólmenes

This hotel is located on the edge of Antequera, which itself is located on the edge of the Sierra Nevada. This hotel is a typical Spanish style of hotel with nice sized rooms with typical dark Spanish furniture. From our room we had a view of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The hotel was very clean with very friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant which served traditional Spanish food, but were very adaptable for my wife who is a vegetarian. The food was really good and would definitely recommend it.

The only criticism would be over the breakfast which was served in the hotel's bar area, rather than in the restaurant. This meant that you were served along with the ordinary passing visitors, and this hotel is popular with the local population.

Easy to access off the main road, there is free parking. From the off, the owners appear to have done so well in keeping the character of the place, which is well up to a higher rated 3 star. Staff really helpful and courteous. Room was excellent with good aircon and comfortable beds, bathroom was spotless. Public areas were clean. We ate in the evening in the main restaurant, which was a fantastic surprise as the food was excellent, the wine very reasonably priced and the staff brilliant. The interior courtyards serving the rooms on both floors need to be seen to be appreciated. If you normally use 'Modern' faceless hotels, try staying here to see a difference! Would definitely go back, outstanding value for money!

The view from the little terrace/ balcony outside our room was basically of the industrial estate behind the Hotel, but this didn't spoil the overall experience at all. Those that grumble about the location ( well out of the main town) either cannot understand a map, or bother to read anything before booking.

Every member of staff was friendly, helpful, and obviously happy in their work. The room was spacious, well furnished, and the overall decor was stylish. The inner covered communal patio, outside of our first floor room was an added lovely space, which would be very welcome in inclement weather or to meet with friends/family also staying at the hotel. There was plenty of parking. The fact that the restaurant and cafe were well used by the local Spanish workers and general population speaks volumes. We were impressed by the service both for breakfast in the cafe, and for our evening meal. The restaurant is a lovely area, tastefully furnished and tables have linen cloths and napkins. There was no problem meeting my need for gluten free food - staff appeared knowledgeable and confident regarding food content, which is always reassuring. Despite being on a busy road, the rooms were so well insulated we heard no traffice noise, or noise from other bedrooms. We would certainly recommend to anyone visiting this area.

The only disappointment for us was the fact that there is no safe, designated pedestrian pathway from the hotel into the town and to local supermarkets - necessitating using our car and driving into a busy small town with narrow streets and limited parking to those 'not in the know'.

Hotel is ideal located in the centre of Andalusie. On driving distance of most of the nice places like Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda and Carmenito del Rey. The hotel itself was quiet and, most important, the beds are good and comfortable. Breakfast was oke too. It was only strange to be asked what you want without a card to choose from. Staff is very friendly and helpfull.

Only minor thing about the hotel was the lack of places to put your clothes. There is a big closet, but there were no shelfs. Not a problem for 1 or 2 nights, but living out the suitcase for 10 days is not what you want. I understood the hotel is planning to place shelfs in all the rooms. Untill then it is wise to ask for a room with shelfs in the closet if you are staying there longer.

Wappreciated the availability of parking and locating the hotel easily after having to navigate narrow winding streets in the 2 previous historical centres. Our room was perfect.

The Wi-Fi from our particular room was almost non existent - from what we could find, all public areas had strong Wi-Fi. Note to self- next hotel, ask about Wi-Fi strength and availability in the room they are assigning you. My husband had a meeting scheduled and had to take it in the banquet room. The lovely dining room was closed for a football team, therefore we had to eat in the noisy bar.

Extremely clean throughout hotel. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Lovely, colourful plants making a very attractive entrance. Plenty of room in bathroom to put toiletries, etc. Lovely balcony with seats and a table. Good breakfast with freshly made omelette on request.

Bed was smaller than expected - but more than made up for this by the exceptional comfort. No full length mirror although there was plenty of room to put one on a wall.

Rather noisy - the noise came from facilities next door and from the road, in the morning at 7 am we got some kind of construction noises from outside. We were not offered views of La Peña de los Enamorados. TV set was very small and old. The breakfast is really nothing special for the price one pays, could have a better choice and nicer products.

Room comfort very good and clean. Restaurant/Breakfast was great. Staff friendly. Free good car park. Great location to use as a base to visit town and local archaeological monuments.

TV had no international channels and mostly didn't have a signal. Shower tray didn't drain properly kept filling up with Water and wasn't fixed. Spa Tub didn't work. You need a car to get to any restaurants and shops.

Good size room with balcony, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. On the outskirts of town and not much of a view but very quiet. Great for an overnight stop. I particularly liked the Spanish style inner courtyard although it was very hot there. Breakfast was good, it's not a buffet so you have to order what you want. We also had dinner which was very good, the chef accomodated my dietary requirements avoiding foods I can't eat. One dish to definitely try is the fried aubergenes with honey. Fabulous!

No power socket next to the bedside tables.

Comfortable room with aircon and heating, also a small balcony with table and chairs and a view of the mountains. Excellent restaurant for dinner with good portions at very reasonable prices. Open for dinner at 7.30, which is unusual in Spain, and welcome for those who like to dine earlier than is customary. Gas/log fire in corner of dining room very welcome on cold February nights. Cheerful if noisy bar for breakfast and lunch, with good range of dishes for lunch. Pleasant outside terrace area in sun. Hotel is located at a busy crossroads, with trucks passing frequently, but the rooms were double glazed and not immediately over the road, thanks to terrace, parking and hedge of small trees. Centre galleried courtyard has been covered with a transparent roof since my first visit eleven years ago, giving better insulation against winter temperatures, and a pleasant indoor patio area at first floor level. Only 2.6 kms. from the Dolmenes national park, with its prehistoric stone structures, and a spectacular 25 minute drive from the Torcal geological region.

Nothing really. Slight hitch with hot water on first evening but it was corrected quickly.
