Arirang Hill Hotel Dongdaemun

Location - very near to metro station line 4. Easy to get around. Airport bus to Incheon about 5 minutes walk, very convenient. Many small eateries and convenience store around. Room size was good for 2, luggage could be fully opened and still have space to move around easily. Rooms were cleaned with fresh towels provided every day.

Room heater temperature was centrally controlled, quite stuffy and hot at night. Hotel provided a portable fan which helped improve the situation.

This hotel is very close to Sungshin subway station and the nearby entertainment district is only a few minutes walk away (as this is a university area the entertainment is largely chicken restaurants and karaoke but there are some nice galbi places). We got a room at the end of the hall which was really quiet. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom new and well-maintained. Cleaning staff were prompt and helpful with requests. There's also a coffee shop in the lobby which offers a 10% discount if you show your room keycard.

The nearest subway exit (exit 6) only has a stairs up so I would recommend taking the escalators up at the exit across the street (exit one) and then using the crosswalk. You can see the hotel name from across the street.

Rooms were clean, modernised and decent sized for Korea. Room amenities were great and in good condition. Beds pillow and linens were very soft and comfortable

Lobby space is a bit small. Space on level 2 was not really available to hotel guests and was more for the cafe downstairs. Gym and laundry area were small and would get packed at times

Great location close to Metro and Aeroport Bus - just few meters from the stop. Comfortable beds, "warm" WC and appliances

Strick rules for late check out - every extra minutes must be compensated whereas other hotels usualy provide with 1-2 hours free late check out extension without fee , if available

Stayed for 14 nights with my daughter. Super convenient location. Bus stop outside hotel, train station is like 2 mins walk or less, plenty of shops within walking distance hence plenty of food choices, cafes, snacks, etc. We stayed on level 15, and the view was great. The room we've got is clean and well maintained to my pleasant surprise. We opted for room to be cleaned once every 3 to 4 days for a lower room charge and it's alright. Hot/cold water dispenser, microwave and washing machine was excellent to have within hotel. An observation through few interactions that the younger male staffs were more attentive and helpful. Will be back again..

The towels and pillow cases tends to have stains. Was disappointed that the 3 female staffs at the reception were not helpful when we asked where to see a doctor one of the day during the midnight.

They clean the room everyday like change the towels, throw the trash, etc. even when u dont request. The location is literally the best. Olive Young right across the street, a bus stop OUTSIDE the hotel, and 2mins walk to the convenience store and subway.

I would say the staff needs improvement. My friends and I wanted to book some tickets for shows while we are there and the buying options are limited for foreigners, and so I asked if they could help us, immediately said no. I wasnt able to watch the show. Another scenario is that when I was having trouble with the laundry because theres no softener, asked for help, didnt get any help. Just told me that they dont have softener and thats it.

Room was spacious and clean.

If you plan to stay starting from fall, please note that this hotel runs a central ac unit. When we were there in November, Seoul was still relatively hot and they already started running the heat. If you don’t like sleeping in the heat, ask the hotel about this first before booking! Staying in a hot room is uncomfortable for us and the fan they give you will not help. Be careful of mosquitos if you plan to leave the windows open, we had so many bites because of that this but had no choice because the room was hot. Also, so many windows were opened when we looked at the hotel from the outside. That should tell you a lot of guests are hot. At least if people are cold, they can wear something warmer at night, but sleeping hot is very uncomfortable.

I loved the toilet. It has a bathtub and a smart toilet bowl. The smart toilet bowl consists of toilet seats and sanitary washing systems for males and females. Come fully equipped with a comb, hair dryer, toothbrush and more. The given soap was very moisturising and smelled great. May I add, there was an abundance of hot water when showering. On to the room, the room was pretty spacious and the sheets were clean and pretty soft. Since it was winter, the heaters were on. We could control the warmth of the room, but the air was pretty stale. I love the location of the hotel. There are pharmacies and a convenience store right downstairs. I also love the mandu shop beside the convenience shop. It was cheap and good. The location was perfect for me and my partner. Although slightly further away from the shopping districts, "Dongdaemun" and "Myeong dong". The subway always has space for us to enter and exit, without having to squeeze uncomfortably with the crowd, during peak hours.

Apart from the hot water for showering, the water temperature would fluctuate when the toilet is flushed or if your neighbour's toilet was flushed (?) * I'm not sure but I experienced a drastic change in temperature when I showered. I am unsure if it was caused by my neighbour. But I am certain about the flushing of the toilet, affecting the shower temperature. The air in the room was a bit stale as the air conditioning was turned off. However, a fan was provided to help with it. There was a small window that we could also open for the cold air to flow into the room. We prop'd the fan near the window to help circulate the air around the room.

I stayed for 10days and although I did not have daily cleaning, I received 2 bottles of water and a couple of towels for entire stay. Location was amazing. It was very convenient to commute and there were many cafes, restaurants and stores near the hotel. Hotel had a minimum facility however overall it was a good stay and definitely worth the value.

I cannot really think of any. But it seemed like communication was not very active.
