The Russel Hotel

Staff were friendly and helpful. For breakfast cereal and juice was set out on the counter for self-help and the cook came with menus to take our orders for eggs and bacon etc, not flashy but quite adequate. We had secure parking in a fenced and gated area. The rooms were huge with all the usual toiletries and coffee/tea, cups and kettle, and there was a microwave though we ate out. It was only a short walk to the Waterfront where there are many restaurants and we felt quite safe walking back in the dark.

Not the best area of town but very close to Woolworths. Baths not available due to local drought but we could shower. Load shedding was a pain but lanterns were provided. Perhaps load shedding and the water shortage will be temporary.

It was central and quiet area.

The fact that they don't have a lift and we had to go up on the 3rd floor, even though the staff helped us with moving the bags.

We came for the Oyster Festival and half Marathon. We chose the hotel due to it's close proximity to the finish line. The hotel staff was very friendly, responded to my emails prior to our arrival with great care and attention to detail and was able to help with every request on arrival - they were even able to give us some bananas ahead of our race the next morning. The hotel is well located, has easily accessible parking bays, and all what's needed for a few nights. The beds were very comfortable and we slept with ease.

We have nothing to complain about. We were three people staying in a room. The extra enmities (towel, water, extra tea, etc.) for the third person was not ready in the room when we checked in, but that was quickly sorted out, so really no biggie.

The staff were all very kind and helpful. The location is great! It is close to the freeway, shops and the mall. The waterfront is also a walking distance. The rooms are spacious and clean, with a microwave and fridge.

There is nothing to do at the hotel, it can be a bit frustrating for kids especially when it is raining, like it did when we were there.. The only consolation is that there is plenty do in and around knysna .

Staff was very friendly and helpful, this being checkin and breakfast staff. The included breakfast was very nice and of high quality and freshness. The location of the hotel is to my liking being within walking distance of my favourate pizza joint Persellos. In general its close to central Knysna including malls and restaurants. The room was spacious, looked fairly new /maybe renovated and was spotlessly clean and also airconditioned. The bed was very comfortable. Parking is safe behind gates on property.

I cant think of anything to mention.

It was loadshedding,,we had to leave before 08h00. We arranged to have breakfast at 07h10......however, would have thought somehow coffee would have been made available....specially since we requested to have only boiled eggs and toast for breakfast....we left without a cup of coffee. There was a distinct smell even when coming up the staircase and in the room....May be the carpet.

The room itself was clean, the nice aircon while its hot outside. I enjoyed the stay...friendly receptionist Busi...

Single bed matras a little hard, kitchen staff must just be little more friendly, when dealing with people one need to show a friendly face and be polite in giving a service to others...it was maybe a bad day for her (sunday morning breakfast) so im not unhappy just something i noticed...

The breakfast was amazing and so was the people serving it. The length that all the staff went to for our comfort could never be thanked or repaid, sheer Ubuntu... I am beyond humbled and greatful

Nothing, if I did complain at a point it got shadowed by all the any times different staff showed their kindness towards me and my son.

My friends and I stayed for one night only on our way to Port Elizabeth. The location is great, the room was spacious and clean, there was also quite a lot or parking space, which is very convenient for those who drive through. The breakfast was decent and, despite the loadshedding, we got the hot meals and coffee without any issues. The personnel was very friendly and helpful.

The rooms and beds were very clean. We had a fridge and microwave in the room - very useful. We enjoyed the breakfast. They have a variety to choose from and we were all satisfied with the meal.

The queen bed was unfortunately uncomfortable and the aircon was in the kids' room that was meant to cool both rooms. The aircon should rather be in the main room and a fan in the kids' room.
