Great hostel vibe with good outside area with pool, pool table, hammock and staff that make it feel welcoming. Easy going vibe, bar that's reasonably priced. Rooms are fine and bathrooms fine - could all do with updating a little but nothing that matter that much. Kitchen area well equipped for a stay and lots of space to make your food.

Excellent location. Could easily access V&A Waterfront. Loved our large, double room ensuite. Kitchen facilities were numerous, nice light dining area, comfy sofas for relaxing with TV & with the pool and bar it felt more like a hotel than backpackers! The staff were what made the place and always had a smile on their faces and time to chat. I had left my watch in the room when we left and the kind lady came running to find me with it. The backpackers had a lovely atmosphere, guests of all ages were respectful (staying during the holidays - New Years Eve- I expected it to be more rowdy but thankfully it wasn’t) and the location up a small cul de sac meant there was little traffic.

Honestly can’t find any faults ..

I am Swiss and have spent enough nights in 4 and 5 star hotels as a flight attendant. But I also realized that real life doesn't happen there. If you're looking for luxury and prestige, go somewhere else. I spent 10 days in the hostel at the beginning of December 2023. I give a 10 because of the value for money. Absolutely brilliant location - just below Signal Hill, direct ascent possible. Very close to Greenpoint. Near the city. And somehow a quiet location. Top quality shop just around the corner. Good quality breakfast very close. I would particularly like to highlight the qualities of the receptionist, who gave me valuable insider tips several times. There are a few washrooms that don't have much to offer, but there is one washroom that I found classy. I didn't need the kitchen, but it seemed big and practical to me. Everything is pretty straightforward. I say thanks a lot! p.s.: I have been to CPT many times, but because of the location of the hostel I learned to appreciate the Greenpoint oasis for the first time. For relaxing, jogging, working out, reading, meeting people,...

I feel like at home, very friendly atmosphere

Breakfast: No breakfast serve, self catering Location: Warm welcomed by hosts especially on a tiredsome long day, as we travelled from George from 3am, via Stellenboch, picking up my #kwagga daughter. Watched the live rugby action at CT stadium, Stormers vs Sharks. Within walking distance from our destination, lesser travelling, although hectic traffic. Explored the V&A Waterfront. Enjoyed walking in the rain on a Sunday morning. Rooms: Very cozy and comfortable, in neat conditions

Unfortunately, no braai facilities. Entertainment like darts, pool, table tennis were too close to other guests.

Very well placed to explore Cape Town. We were only there for one night but we had already been in Cape Town in December and chose Big Blue Backpackers because we could walk to the V&A Waterfront easily. Very friendly staff and we met some other lovely visitors too. We were also allowed to leave our luggage whilst we walked around town as our flight wasn't until later that evening. This was a huge plus for us.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. the owner is hand-on. It felt like home away from home. It is central. Shops and banks close by. I really enjoyed my stay and extended it.

We cannot ever please anybody but we can listen and try, and as long as we try we are showing that we appreciate the guest. The staff definitely tries to sort out anything that could be a potential problem.

I enjoyed my stay at Big Blue Backpackers. The facilities are basic, but good. The vibe is lovely! Also the staff is very friendly, flexible and tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Thanks a lot!

The place is really wonderful. I liked: •Rooms - are very nice with comfortable beds. •Bathroom - is very clean, has hot water •Area - very quiet, I could sleep whenever I want without any problems. Also the area is safe and it is very near to the bus station, to various restaurants and quite near to the Watefront shopping centre. •Staff - very friendly •Internet - fast

Nothing, everything was good.

The room was lovely and well located on the property, private and comfortable. The staff at the property were super helpful, welcoming as were the other guests. It had a warm family feel.

The wifi did not work in the room only the bar or main building so this was inconvenient for work needs.
