Grand Hotel – by Classic Norway Hotels

Thank you for a great stay and for your kindness in allowing us to cancel the first night of our stay as we were stuck on the road due to floods and weren’t able to arrive to Andalsnes. We truly appreciate it!!

Excellent central location, short walk from the train station although a bit on a hike. Although not too spacious but the room was clean, cozy and had everything we needed including an electric kettle with supplies of tea and coffee, 2 arm chairs, a coffee table and a desk to work on with good lighting. The bed was comfy. Plus we had a cool view of the fjord, mountain range and gondolas coming up and down at a distance. The included hot and cold breakfast was of good quality served at the spacious restaurant. We especially liked the fresh vegetables and fruits as well as the plant-based milks to eat with muesli. Friendly reception.

Hot chocolate in the room. More options for healthy breakfast such as nuts, seeds, dried fruits.

The young male receptionist was excellent. Very professional and helpful. Our car broke down and we booked the hotel last minute. The recovery left us in the rain near the hotel. We could not get a taxi and the receptonist arranged for us to be collected and taken to the hotel. This is was greatly appreciated as we were travelling with young children and had a long tiring day. The room was reasonable size, had a lovely view of the lake. The location is excellent and very close to the centre and nearby restaurants. Breakfast was ok but could be better.

Splendid location with an old world charm about it. The room was spotless as in all the Norwegian hotels we have been to, but this was more spacious, with a grand view, wide choices of tea bags in the room and a lovely restaurant to boot. We had a late train to take and they gave us a later check out without making us feel guilty about it. The staff also took care of arranging a taxi for our trip to Trollstigen as the weather was unpredictable for the next morning. Adding a picture of the view from the room. The hotel has a rich history and that adds to the appeal.

They are a little hard to get on the phone, but you do get them if you are patient

The view from the room is very nice. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Free coffee and tea in the lobby was a plus. The location of the hotel is close to the train/bus station and cable car station is very convenient. It’s also quite quiet at night, no noises from bars/pubs because they are in the center of the town. But if anyone needs that, they are still in a walking distance to the hotel.

The size of the room is a bit small.

We had a strange experience at The Grand. We checked in and within an hour, found that the only bus to Oslo left at Midnight. We had to leave our beautiful room and check out to make our connection. The young man at the desk and your manager were wonderful. They helped us make the bus reservations and we left your beautiful city that night on time. Your staff was the best!

What I'll do on my next visit is make better plans and stay longer.

Overall, it was a good experience. Breakfast is nice, and the room was good size for a European hotel.

There was no vacant parking so I had to park on the street, and the man at the reception did not know if the place was OK, although it was the next street. The hotel has only one elevator, and it was used by the staff when we finished breakfast, so we had to use the stairs, which was a little disappointing.

The breakfast was very good, and so was the dinner that we ate in the hotel restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful. The parking is free if there is enough room in the two small lots in front of the hotel; paid parking is in the rear of the hotel. You can walk to the gondola and waterfront from the hotel. The room was on the small side, but clean and modern. We enjoyed playing cards with our friends in the comfortable lounge area.

The Breakfast was first class and was everything in this hotel. Perfectly located just off the main thoroughfare. The staff was very helpful with sightseeing and eating suggestions. There is a restaurant there but there was a big function going on. This is the best hotel in the Andalsnes area and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The room and bed were very comfortable and bigger than most European hotels.

All the rooms faced the parking lot and it was hot out so when i opened the window for the cool night air one could hear all the noise coming from the parking lot - especially from the guests attending the big event at this hotel

This place has everything one can expect from a good hotel. The reception was more than willing to help us plan our hiking trip and offered good advice regarding the surrounding area. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the restaurant looks beautiful with the huge high-res panorama shot of the Andalsnes area. The hotel itself is on a good location, close to the town centre and offers free parking outside. They also offer free coffee in the lobby for guests. Nice! Would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

The bathroom was very functional but looks a bit outdated. No biggie!
