Hotel Give

Upon arriving to Hotel Give, I was impressed from the get go. Being on Hereford street, you’re a block away from Hagley Park. The parking is ample and a stones throw from town. Its very much on the expensive side however so keep that in mind if you have your own vehicle you may need to move your car before the AM parking meters start. The check in process was simple and efficient, and the wooden room keys are a nice touch. Upon arriving to the room, we were super impressed at the tidiness and cleanliness overall, it was bright and airy, tastefully decorated. The bed was super comfortable with nice linen and the shower had great pressure with ample hot water. Tea and coffee was good quality, clean fridge.

- No matter how much we investigated the ‘heater’ switch and the temperature dial, the room remained super stuffy and warm. Would be nice in winter, but too hectic in the summer. - The ventilation system and airflow around our floor was strange - we were quite often smelling other guests’ perfumes and shower products as they got ready in the morning in their surrounding rooms which isn’t ideal to have in your sleeping space. - The walls are super thin, so if you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs.

The location is quite good, closed to the city just walking distance to the beautiful garden. The room is okay a little bit small for 3 bedroom but okay. Th room were clean. The bathroom needs hand sanitizer.

The parking area, need to be smart to get to the closest parking. The laundry area, not familiar using the washing machine and no sign of instruction on the wall on how to use or operate the machine.

New comfy beds, warm rooms with good heating and central city location without traffic noise. Good quality tea and coffee (although there was no fresh milk) and nice soaps and moisturisers.

The room was not well cleaned, there was hair on the floor as well as hair ties and other odd bits of rubbish under the beds and behind the bedside tables.

Excellent hotel. I believe there is a hostel side, but we were in one of the hotel rooms near the top and everything was faultless. The room was enormous, well furnished, spotless and the bed was so comfortable. The staff were so so lovely. We had issues on the second night with people smoking in the room below us (we had the window open) and having a party. I let the front desk know, not particularly expecting anything to happen - they sorted within minutes and checked on us the next day too. Genuinely would stay here again in a heartbeat. Amazing hotel.

Don’t think there was aircon in our room, but the room came with a standing fan and had big windows & a balcony door we could open - so actually the temperature was fine (And I always run hot!).

We enjoyed this hotel. We didn't have a vehicle, but Christchurch is small and walkable, and the hotel was conveniently located across from the Botanic Garden and a straight shot to the downtown area. We booked a studio with a kitchenette which was perfect. The room and bathroom were immaculate, as was the kitchenette area and appliances. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and patient during check in. We also liked the business plan aspect that the property used profits to give back to the community. The photos depict the rooms, reception and waiting area accurately.

Room was large, clean and comfortable. I was a bit concerned about the "shared bathroom" concept, but it proved to be a non-issue: everything was arranged so that only one person at a time could use a bathroom, and there were multiple units on each floor. Everything was clean and well cared-for. The communal kitchen (which I didn't use) was large and well-appointed, with virtually everything you need to prepare a meal. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good value for money.

Nothing. I was very happy there. Weather wasn't great, but that wasn't the hotel's fault.

Strategic location - just opposite Christchurch Botanic Garden, and 2-min walk to the Antigua Boat Sheds, punting on the Avon river, walking distance to other attractions - Christchurch Art Gallery, Canterbury Museum, Earthquake Center, Bridge of the Remembrance, Tram stop, Riverside Market and souvenir shops at Cashel street. New hotel with very clean rooms. You can choose different types of rooms - the one with shared bathroom is nice (3 rooms sharing one bathroom) and really value for money. Friendly staff.

I am not sure if the lobby is under renovation or if the set-up is just as such but it doesn't create a welcoming home entrance.

Kitchen is more than enough for 2 people. Bathroom seriously big. Bed king size bed. Super comfy. Location just opposite the botanical garden, Easy to walk to shops. The room size is just so comfortable,

When we arrived on 30/12, the weather was around 26c outside. The room was super hot like an oven. We found out that there is no cooling system. Thankfully we can request a fan and that help to cool down the room with the balcony door open the whole night long

I stayed in the female dorm hostel and it was one of the best hostels Iv stayed in. The rooms are huge with lots of space, even a table in the room. Big lockers to fit my backpack and the beds really comfy, clean with big duvets. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond expectations. There were plenty of bathrooms available and each floor had a lounge and kitchen. The kitchen was clean and had everything needed. Bathrooms had a big shower and floor towels and shower towels were provided. Location was perfect, right next to the botanic gardens and a 10 minute walk into the city.

More information about the airport shuttle- wasn’t a big deal as got a Uber.

Kitchen. Some great staff. Feels modern. Nice bathrooms on each floor. Right opposite the beautiful botanical gardens. Easy walk to the town centre.

My dorm was a mess. Other guests had their stuff all over the floor. There was an open jar of Nutella on the table with a knife in, that was still there when I left. The kitchen gets locked up around 10 and there are very limited social areas. The kitchen is dominated by longer term residents who are younger travellers working in the city. The breakfast definitely isn't worth the money. Go to a nearby cafe.
