Grand Hotel en Résidence De Draak

A really lovely hotel in the middle of the square. The room we had booked was in their annex out the back of the hotel - a bit of a rabbit warren to get to the room. The location is ideal for exploring the town and near lots of lovely restaurants. We would be back.

We found it really difficult to find anywhere to park. The hotel has parking but we couldn't work out how to get to the hotel. Ended up parking a little way away from the square. The staff were all on the phone when we arrived which didn't give the best first impression. The room was OK but the bed was a classic two single beds 'zipped' together - my biggest pet hate of hotels. We booked a double room! Breakfast was good if a little limited. Choice of eggs would have been nice. We saw no-one at all during breakfast.,

Bergen op Zoom is a very nice city to spend a weekend and this is a wonderful hotel situated right in the centre. I ate at the restaurant the first night and it was absolutely fabulous - Michelin star level cookery!

To be honest I was really really disappointed not to be in the main hotel. I liked the idea of staying in what is the oldest hotel in The Netherlands and I even specifically changed my booking to a suite - which was clearly in the main old building based on the picture on the website - not in the residence across the square. However, I was given a room in the other building - and it was also not even a suite but rather one - albeit- very large room. It and the bathroom were very spatious and also I would consider was very good value for the money - but it was just not what I wanted or had booked!

The staff and the attention was absolutely amazing! I called before to make sure we could take our 2 dogs and to ask about the parking and they were very nice, kind, helpful, etc etc. Welcome gift for our dogs. The bed and the pillows amazing!

The bathroom was quite small and the tube very high, so it was not that easy to get in. But still with such a tiny bathroom, the hotel is amazing and it’s location is the best. Bars and restaurants around and open until late at night but no noise at all. The second thing is that as it is summer and we had very hot weather, the AC in the room made so much noise.

Beautiful hotel right in the centre of the market square of the quaint town, but still quiet in the rooms. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Highlight was the (paid for additionally) chef's tasting menu in the hotel restaurant; it was absolutely superb (one of the best meals we've had on any trip) and excellent value for money. Great base location for driving/cycling the Delta route.

Difficult to find a place to park; couldn't find the entrance to hotel's parking.

What a charming wee town!! I arrived along with a colleague who said that his room was good too. Quirky and well appointed; the age of some fittings not letting the place down. The room was spotless. We arrived during Carnaval but the noise didn’t bother us as we headed out to watch the celebrations. The locals were very welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed the place so much that I would not hesitate to visit again with family. The hotel is in a great location and has a nice feel to it. The staff were very professional.

Hotel right in the city centre. Large and well-equipped room in an historical building. Extensive breakfast with plenty of variation. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Pleasantly surprised with several historic town and shopping, although our primary focus was on hiking in Zeeland.

A bit more choice of fresh fruit and bread at breakfast would have been great. As it is an older building noise insulation is not the greatest. Parking in this town is very expensive.

Airconditioning in the rooms not working well. Breakfast very expensive (€22.50 /pp), we chose to eat elsewhere. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently it is the oldest hotel in The Netherlands! very charming hotel, perfect location to explore Bergen Op Zoom, the Grote Markt has some great bars. We stayed during Carnival and the atmosphere was brilliant. The train station is only a short walk 10 minutes at most and from there really easy to navigate to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp. I have to say the Dutch are very friendly and helpful, and good fun!

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff and brilliant location right in the centre of the cute town. Restaurants all around and only 9 minutes walking distance from the train station.

The staff made some mistakes with our room, the lights wouldn't come on; the cleaners need better training. The single beds were too narrow...odd for a country known for tall, broad people. The breakfast I am sure would have been lovely but at almost 20€ per head daily was too steep. We found delicious breakfast elsewhere and most places had gluten free and lactose free options.

Requested extra's were arranged spotlessly. The room was decorated for our anniversary with balloons, serpentines and abottle of Cava (a good one). Extra coffee was given without hesitation and the room was very quiet, even in the middle of town! Bathroom was excellent with a forceful shower, great!

We had to search for the kettle and the room could have done with a few more power outlets.
