Hotel Encounter Nepal

At the reception desk, Bibas and Pramila were terrific and very helpful. Actually, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a pleasant and spacious room. The bed was very comfortable. The location is quiet (essential for a peaceful sleep). The hotel is close to the main attractions of Thamel and the bustling markets. The restaurant food is delicious, and they make the best vegetable/egg thukpas I've had (and I ate it several times during my stay). When I revisit Kathmandu, Hotel Encounter will be my hotel of choice.

There needs to be a lot of improvement with the spa and services offered. There was no heating or hot water available. I requested a two-hour massage but received one hour (and it was very cold in the room). Despite this, the therapist gave a great massage. The pedicure given was not a pedicure - my feet were soaked in cold water - the therapist did not have the proper implements to provide a professional pedicure (or the experience). It lasted for about 15 minutes, with me cutting my toenails and the therapist using only a pumice foot paddle on the soles of my feet - no trimming of cuticles, no foot massage, etc.

Good location. Had very friendly staff. Morning breakfast satisfying. The overall price was quite reasonable. The bed was warm and soft. The room was clean and inviting. There was lots of free water. It was not too noisy. A hose in the bathroom was very useful. The water for the shower was warm to hot.

At times the toilet had a bad Oder. The aircon could be finicky. The closet could use more hangers. Not all the light switches were working properly. The card for opening the door not always worked 100% of the time.

We was staying in the middle of december 2023 in room 202 (3d floor). In the beginning, we reserved delux room with city view, but I found that room much more cold and smaller than the opposite side. Thanks guys on reception, that allowed select fit room for us. Our room was warm, sunny, light and big. Hot water in shower, AC with heater, wifi fast, tea pot, 2 bottles of drinking water everyday. Good breakfast from 7 to 10 in the garden. Have safe parking also and spa (we did not use). Location is great. Near tamel but in quite place, you just need cross road. Near have fruit shops and sim card office.

Nothing, because price in off season was good.

I was extremely impressed with the hosts, namely Bekas and Bibas. Both made it a personal mission to see that each guest was well taken care of. The breakfast was well done and plentiful: from a delicious omelette, grilled vegetables, toast, coffee or tea and fruit salad, plus all the trimmings. My room was huge and comfortable.

The neighborhood isn't the nicest, but it's still safe, and a great vision of the typical life of the Nepalese. It's quickly overlooked by the fact that the hotel is only 1/2 block a way from Thamel street, filled with restaurants, cafes, and tons of tourists strolling and taking in the Nepalese atmosphere.

Very good value for money. Room is clean, spacious and with all conforts and facilities, also the bed is confortable. The staff and the receptionist Pramila have been very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was very good for both quality and variety. The place has a lovely relaxing garden where to enjoy the breakfast. The location is central, you have just to cross a road and you are in the middle of Thamel with all shops,bars and restaurants.

I stayed at the Encounter for 4 nights over a 5 week stay in Nepal. And was there in May this year too. It is a comfortable place with friendly, helpful staff. I like the location just across from Thamel but not inside that area. I find Hotel Encounter very good value for Kathmandu and recommend it to travelers staying in Kathmandu.

The restaurant could be better, but I enjoy the variety available in Thamel which is just couple minutes away, so this was not an issue or me.

Toilet is small

The hotel provides a quiet and pleasant stay due to its location and the excelent staff. It is very close to Thamel (where you can find anything from good restaurants and bars to grocery stores) but away from the crowdy area. I could sleep and rest very well. The highlight of the place is the staff, they are very kind and accommodating providing anything for a gread and smooth stay.

They are so friendly! We arrived so late, in midnight they kept the best room for us, and carried my luggage to the top of floor.the room is on 4 floor, the I saw the whole views of Kathmandu, it’s amazing! I love the room and breakfast, breakfast is in the beautiful garden! so I continued the room for one week! Thank them so much!

Location was fantastic, rooms are clean and quiet, and staff was specially kind and helpful, and breakfast very well, all for a very fair price. For sure we will repeat when returning to Kathmandu,
