Room was spacious, clean, plenty of light and with a simple but very nice modern style
The bed was hard, the hardest I have experienced in Mexico, and I left the hotel after three days with a considerable backache. The outside space needed an umbrella to make it usable as it was a sun trap. Also very noisy due to being right on the road so we only used it to dry clothes. The room itself was not too noisy though. We thought it was a shame that the hotel did not include breakfast as the courtyard was beautiful but nobody seemed to use it and it did not feel welcoming and comfortable.

The hotel is perfect if you specifically book room 12 (double room) or a higher category, if you just book a low category room, you will get one without windows which can be very claustrophobic. The restaurant in the patio is a nice idea, but does need some maintenance and TLC, as everything looks a little outdated. Also it can be cold outside for breakfast. Nevertheless, it's a very traditional mexican vibe, and the bikes are amazing to take around the city. It's located very well, near to Zocalo square which has lot's of music, dancing and good restaurants.
I'm not so sure if the hotel is worth what you pay as you can find cozier hotels around for the same price.

Location was great. Nice atrium lobby. Very satisfied with our room and bath
Included breakfast was limited to an American plan. This was not indicated on reservation details. We would have preferred ordering anything on their breakfast menu as included with room. Most of the hotel staff did not speak English. Some difficulty communicating with staff

I really enjoyed the location and room. Everything we wanted to access was within walking distance. Gabriel, Yessenia and Nely really made our stay very comfortable. All of them helped me and my friends with advice and help on where to go eat/drink/play, set up a covid-19 test to get back to USA and were very accommodating with whatever myself, Omar or Juan Manuel needed in the hotel or restaurant on site (very good too). Our experience at this hotel, especially with Gabriel, Yessenia and Nely will definitely have us coming back here in Oaxaca in the very near future.

one of my favorite hotels in Mexico. love the courtyard and how peaceful and relaxing it is. staff are very accommodating and helpful. locations is awesome, just a couple of blocks from the square and lots of great bars and restaurants close by. bed super comfy. linens and pillows high quality. good Wi-Fi and tv channels in English lovely shower with great shower head and hot water and the provided toiletries are amazing.
if I was to find something the door was slightly difficult to open, but I am really searching for something to complain about. our stay was wonderful

We loved the entire atmosphere, the elegance and decadence, the amazing service, the friendly helpful staff, and will return every year. Sitting out on the courtyard amidst exotic plants, being able to work while on vacation. And the rooms were so spacious, clean and comfortable. Great showers with ample hot water. Casa de Sierra Azul is my new favorite hotel in Oaxaca and I've stayed in many. We would never have discovered it if we weren't bringing our dog and all our previously favorite hotels were not pet friendly. Thank you Chapo for helping us find the best hotel in Oaxaca.
The only thing we didn't like were the loud children outside our doors early in the morning. As adults, we were shushed a few times at night but the kids never were.

The staff was great and the location was very convenient.
We were surprised that there was so little English spoken by the staff, so it was difficult to communicate. We think you should make it clear that knowing some Spanish would be helpful. We were disappointed in the limited "free breakfast" options that were supposedly a part of our plan.

Everyone was very helpful! Check-in was easy, we extended a night and were able to stay in the same room. We had trouble setting our safe code and help came immediately so we could head out for the day! Lastly, my husband wasn't feeling great the morning server made him a healing tea!
Everything was great. Our only comment would be that the noise echos in the courtyard with others coming and going. That is the setup in most hotels & guesthouses we saw thought the city though so I think it is unavoidable!

Casa de Sierra Azul is an oasis in the heart of historic Oaxaca with bars, restaurants,, art galleries, and the Zocolo within walking distance. It's the perfect location. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained with a tropical courtyard, where we enjoyed several very good meals at the restaurant. The staff was friendly and courteous and very helpful. We would stay here again and highly recommend it.
Windows on the ground floor rooms should open for more air circulation.

Very spacious room, feeling of elegance, felt safe (large oak doors only opened when required). Elegant courtyard nice to sit out during the day and relax. Tasty breakfasts could be bought on the premises. Liked receiving the complimentary mezcal voucher. Felt like a very upmarket hotel in a pleasant area.
Was told only one bottle of water was provided per room per day and felt it should be unlimited. Having said that, they usually gave us more if we asked. Felt that breakfast service could be quicker (more staff needed?) as sometimes need to be served quickly if going on a tour or under time pressures. Room was generally very clean but a bit more attention to the crevices around the washbasin taps needed
