The Brownstone Hostel & Space

I love the vibes tho, the location, the services, the cleanliness and the brrakfast!

The parking is opposite the hostel between the main road. Would suggest yall drop off first your luggage (if heavy/many) before park at the parking site. The wall is not soundproof tho. Can hear ppl flushing the toilet, chit chatting if loud voice, and the vehicles on the road.

The location is quite good and central. To the old city centre you can walk within 15 minutes. The staff was helpful and friendly. The building is nice and there is a cafe inside that is open during the day. The hostel provides what you need and for a short stay it is a good option.

The door of our family room was facing to the community room and the kitchen. So it can be a bit noisy. From 10pm to 8am hosts have to be silent. Also you hear the big road next to the hostel. The breakfast is only toast and jam and peanut butter and some muesli. Coffee and tea is provided. But there is a fridge where you can put your own groceries.

We had a fantastic stay here at the brownstone hostel. The team were welcoming, friendly and always happy to provide advice on places to go and where to eat. The communal areas were comfortable and well designed. The free tea and coffee and breakfast was also a bonus. We pvoely the bean bags upstairs too ! The dorm rooms were modern, comfortable and private. Each bed had a curtain, light,shelf and plug. The rooms also had cages with padlocks provided. The hostel also had a cute cafe for coffee and bagels - though we didn't try the menu looked good. The hostel cat was a bonus too !!

The hostel is very open with lots of plants and open windows, making it feel bright and fresh. The only downside is mosquitos, so just make sure you have bug spray if you are prone to being bitten. Otherwise we cannot fault this hostel.

What an amazing interior, it's well designed for a hostel. You have a beautiful common area on the first floor and a couple of terraces available to use. Dormitory beds are spacious and lockers big enough to fit a 90L backpack. I'm happy with all the amenities. I didn't stay long enough to rent a bike but I love that this is offered as well.

The dormitory room was cold during the nights, even with the option to adjust the Aircon. On the second night I asked for an additional blanket/bedsheet and this was provided to me, and then it was pleasant to sleep.

A superb hostel with very friendly staff. I stayed here for two nights and would've stayed for longer if they had availability. There's a roof terrace, upstairs and downstairs common rooms, great WiFi and awesomely comfortable beds! The free breakfast was great, as were the free maps and restaurant recommendations. They offer bike rental and sell drinks from their fridge and built-in cafe. Genuinely a very well polished operation, I would totally recommend this hostel to solo travellers. You can take a grab to the temples, mirror lake and cultural village. The heritage walk is within walking distance from the hostel too. They even sell postcards and stamps, I loved it here!

ALL. The room is sooo spacious and comfy and cozy, one of the most spacious rooms I’ve ever stayed. The common areas are also so nice, it has small library and place to relax upstairs which is so nice. The bathroom upstairs are also nice with lots of green space, and clean of course. I love the interior of this hostel. They are also generous in providing coffee and tea and snacks just in case you are hungry in the middle of the night. The staff Nikita was so lovely and helpful, she made my stay more enjoyable. Totally recommend this hostel to great experience of Ipoh.

The hostel is cosy and creative with nice communal areas to hang out. The king room was nicely done with a comfortable bed, desk and private bathroom. The dorm beds were great - each pod well made with your own light, plug sockets and shelf. We slept super well here! Free breakfast was basic with bread, spreads and cereal. There are always cookies and tea/coffee to enjoy, along with water to refill which is always handy. Good wifi. Helpful friendly staff who give recommendations for places to eat. Cute cat! :)

Most friendly place I've stayed in Malaysia. Been here three times and stayed in 7 places. Very cosy, close to everything I needed. Can park your motorcycle inside. Sell great coffee, and have a drink fridge to purchase cold ones. Nice communal areas. It attracts young and old travellers. The dorms are exceptional, cubical bunks not open bunks with lockers, best backpacker privacy and security I've experienced. I'm from NZ and stayed in countless backpackers over 20 years. Worth staying a night or more.

Cannot stay with a bunch of mates on a motorcycle road trip as very limited bike parking.

Lovely hostel, rather modern. Double room was spacious and comfy, bathroom was clean. Friendly staff. Option to do some laundry washing too. Slightly on the more expensive side for a hostel, but there aren’t many other options in Ipoh so that might be why! About 15 mins walk from the main area/Old Town, but easy to get a Grab if needs be. I would say two nights in Ipoh is probably the right amount! We seem to have been eaten alive by mosquitoes here, lots of them around so bring some insect repellent!

The hostel is cozy and has several toilets and showers. There several common areas and I saw some bikes that you can borrow. The staff of all shifts were super friendly. Delicious food in the tiny bistro they have.

A minor thing. Although it's an advantage to have some sort of self-service and the option of self check-out anytime. I wish the hostel offered 24-hour reception as it would increase the sense of coziness and friendliness of the place.
