Rixwell Old Riga Palace Hotel

When the problem with the room was discovered, alternative room was offered by the managerial staff and problem solved.

Pictures of design rooms might be misleading - not all design rooms are the same. Some might not have a window, but this information is not provided and room is offered as high value room for higher price.

Location is excellent, close to all bars , restaurants and local transport systems, to arrive from airport take to #22 at 2€ per person,get off at stop 13, hotel is less than 5 minutes walk. Beds are extremely comfortable we slept very well indeed. Breakfasts are searved till 11am, which is plentiful a good continental selection, cooked is a choice of beans, sausages and eggs of various styles. Bathroom seemed new, was very clean, although took time to demist after showering. We would highly recommended Rixwell Old Palace and will remember our stay fondly, should we travel to Riga again, will certainly look to staying again.

We got confused with regard to room cleaning, rooms only cleaned if to you put "hanger" on door, usually the other way round, so in 3 days we tidied room and re used towels, which was no real hardship. I'm caffeine intolerant, Riga as a whole not good on decaf, this was the same in hotel. Again, take my own just in case. Room was much smaller than we'd thought it would be, having booked a large designer room, we had room 324 which was quite small.

The hotel's location is great. It's within walking distance from the train station and bus station. There is a plethora of restaurants nearby, so you don't need to go far to get dinner. And it's right next to some of the best sights in Riga. The room was OK - not super spacious, but not too small. Breakfast was just fine: I am not super picky, but I guess that most guests can find something to their liking. Special mention to the wonderful young people working at the front desk - multilingual, super nice, and extremely helpful!

The shower box was a little small: large individuals would probably find it too small. We could have benefited from a second chair (but the room wasn't huge, so....)

Design of the room was very nice. And service was very joyfull and easy. Location is great. Lot of nice bars and restaurans in a 5 minute distance.

A lot of dust everywhere and seems like cleaners had a bad day. Also lot of spots like corners etc. Were clearly not cleaned for months. Roof balks are too low and we had to be carefull to not hit the head. (175cm). Tv was in a strange spot in the room and shower cabin could be cleaner. Breakfast is located in the cellar. Bad conditioning and too much people eating at once. We had to wait for a seat with the food in our hands.

Reasonably priced. Small, older lodging with central location -- easy walk to train and bus stations, a great base from which to explore Old Riga. Rooms are compact but nicely finished, complete with minibars. Front desk staff are friendly and efficient. Full breakfast buffet offered. I discovered a wonderful nearby bar, Piana Vyshnia (Šķūņu iela 60), which exclusively serves a beguiling cherry-red tipple from Lviv, Ukraine. You have to check it out. Also, the main market just across the railway tracks is bursting with international eating options. Definitely go.

Unless you're a monk, you may find the bed in the single rooms to be uneasily narrow.

The location of the hotel was very good, centrally located with no need to use the public transport for basically anything. Hotel room, facilities and the bed was good and comfortable enough. Breafast was alright with gluten free options too.

Unfortunate location of the breafast room, dowstairs, due to which I had a feeling that the room wasn't properly "fresh-aired". The check in took a slightly more time then expected, although that was also partly our fault as we didn't do the online check in in advance.

The hotel was superbly located in the old town, close to the city centre. It was also lovely and clean.

We had booked a triple room so 3 beds but the single beds were smaller than usual which meant am uncomfortable sleep. The room was also in the roof / top floor of the hotel which meant we had the eves of the roof to contend with which made it a bit cramped in some spots.

Breakfast was good. Room was clean and bed comfy enough. Fridge was filled with minibar stuff, but we didn't have a pricelist anywhere. Location was really good- city center just a few minutes walk away.

Maintenance guy walked in in the morning without knocking and left as soon as he noticed that we were in the room. That was surprising and not expected at all. Rooms in need of some makeover. Tiles on the balcony were loose and nearly fell down to the ground.

I was relocated to a different yet very modern and new hotel across the street due to construction. This hotel was called the Wellton Riverside Spa. The hotel was extremely clean both inside and outside. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was cold. The shower had plenty of hot water and great pressure. The WiFi was very fast. The included breakfast offered many choices and everything tasted delicious.

There wasn't any parking spaces left when I arrived and I had to park about ten minutes away. The Zone B parking is free overnight, but cars must be moved or have a paid ticket by 8:00am or the vehicle will incur a fine. Don't be a minute late because the parking police will be there waiting to write a violation at 8:00am exactly. Obviously, this is not the hotels fault...

loved the family room. perfect size for the four of us, plus a travel cot for our baby was provided. really happy with the service. the room was really beautiful, carpets could do with an upgrade but at least everything was clean and there was lots of room for the little ones. breakfast was great, something for everyone.

maybe more water could have been provided with the room clean and maybe the glasses cleaned/replaced. but otherwise no major issues
