⭐️Iconic hotel⭐️ Really plus point is you will get the chance to snap the morning sun at their top level Bar Duomo Rosso The hotel staffs - The staffs are very friendly and helpful I really enjoyed their service , they will extend an extra mile in service Room - The room is clean and comfortable. We had a side view to the Bay Area but if you have a direct river view, that would be fantastic Location - Abit of a walk from the JR Otaru station but not the worst, we could manage, but then that’s the only slight down side. Upside is it’s across the river front

Nothing much to dislike

We came as a family of four to enjoy the light festival. The view from the seaside room was absolutely stunning. The hotel suggested viewing the morning sunrise from the penthouse bar and restaurant but we were able to see the sunrise from our room. Simply magnificent and not to be missed! The hotel also gave each of us free tickets to a bowl of clam soup at the matsuri (festival) at one end of the light festival where atmospheric music reverbed to the flickering lights of a disused building that harkened us back to the times of Otaru as an old trading port.

This is an old hotel and some of the decor, such as the maroon-color bath, felt a bit dated. Still, I enjoyed a deep bath in a well-kept bathroom. Sublime, in a snow blizzard!

Breakfast was good with good choices. The triple bedroom is a bit small with not much space to open our luggage. The location is good for touring the town and is just beside the tourist canal and the shopping street.

The location of the hotel is a bit far from from the train station although in good weather it would be a nice walk. However we were there in end January and there was snow everywhere. Some parts were icy and slippery and dangerous for oldies like us to move around. We had to taxis for such trips.

Great location right on the canal and within walking distance to the train station. Plenty of food options close to the hotel but they do close early so don't leave it too late to eat. Very safe to walk around the town of an evening - make sure you get to all the shops at the back to the canal area, divine. Staff were very nice and helpful - even when we experienced a missile warning (thanks North Korea). Everyone was calm and explained the process. We used the onsite parking which was great. Breakfast was good and the outlook from the restaurant pleasant. Everything was spotless!

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and it won't be the last. The hotel is in an excellent position right opposite the canal and close to restaurants. It is a beautiful old hotel that has stood the test of time. The rooms are comfortably spacious and well appointed. The staff are extremely helpful, courteous and polite. They go our of their way to assist guests to ensure you have a comfortable stay. I have always been impressed with their professionalism and their efficiency. The check-in process was absolutely seamless. The addition of covered onsite parking is a bonus. We opted to partake in the Hotel breakfast and were not disappointed with the variety and quality of the food - to suit both Japanese and Western tastes. We will certainly be back

The hotel supplies green tea in guest rooms - but I would have loved a coffee.

The Hotel Nord, I adored. The staff were so polite, it was such a pleasant delight. And when my pass-card failed, immediately the staff availed! Breakfast choice was vast, and the food really first class. The wooden traditional decor is also to be adored. I'm sure I'll stay there once more thanks to the staff, the food, the comfort and decor!

I didn't want to leave the comfort, the location, the charming staff, the immense choice of healthy breakfast dishes. I didn't like checking out. I didn't like saying goodbye. I didn't like walking out of the entrance door!

LOCATION was perfect- walking distance everywhere, service was great , a bit cramp for the extra bed, but nevertheless still wroth the price per night

could have offered for side carpark rather than the hassle of some metal-multileveled carpark but all was sorted out in the end ONE MORE THING- we only noticed this after we left the city- our hotcups- instant noodles and one of our cable were missing - hopefully the management could look into it a bit more strictly thanks

Just beside the famous Otaru canal & short walking distance to train station. In winter time especially change of snowing & lightly warm temperature, one could just easily walk to the hotel for change of clothing. Breakfast is good spread of local & western food etc.

May consider providing discounts for repeated customers during the same seasonal periods.

This is a nice hotel in an awesome location right in the middle of the old port district. Pick a "river view" room to get a view over the old canal and warehouses then out to sea. Unfortunately I had to leave early, but the staff were very helpful in only charging me up to the night of the day I told them I had to leave, when I think given the very cheap plan I was on they'd have been within their rights to charge me for the whole time I'd booked. They also checked me in earlier than the scheduled time when I arrived early.

It would have been nice to have more tea (there was just one teabag) and coffee (there wasn't any) in the room. Also this is pretty common in Japanese hotels but there was a fridge in the room which was a little bit noisy. It didn't have anything in it so it would have been nice if there was a switch so I could turn it off during my stay.

The location is amazing - we have the perfect view of the canal from our windows! Staff were also really friendly and kind. As our rented vehicle was a mini bus, we were unable to get into the sheltered parking. They allowed us to park right at the enterance of the hotel lobby area which was super convenient! The room was huge with all the amenities required! Really love the big bathroom as well.
