Dormy Inn Premium Otaru

I like the following: - Free noodles from 9:30pm-11:00pm - Free pineapple and orange slices in room - Large public bath and free manga to read - Breakfast seafood bowl (salmon roe, salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, shrimp tempura, etc.) - Free popsicle and yogurt drink after hot spring bath - Convenience stores nearby, restaurants, tourist attractions

The property is a little old, but very clean.

The location was perfect especially because it was snowy and we didn't want to travel far from the train station with our luggage. The onsen was spectacular. The rooms were set up in such an efficient way. For a small room, the setup was great.

It would have been nice if our whole family could stay in 1 room instead of two. It also would have been nice if there were breakfast options other than a buffet. But neither of these things were deal breakers. We were comfortable splitting up into 2 rooms, and there were plenty of places to eat near the hotel. We ate at a donut shop a few steps away and it was really cool.

Super value for money. Situated right opposite to the Otaru Station exit. Three minutes' walk across the road. It's within walking distance to the famous scenic canal with lots of restaurants and souvenir shops. The seafood market next the station offered good values seafood like king crabs and seafood bowl rice. The twin room we had was a free upgrade. With the close proximity to the railway, we heard no noise of the traffic. Sound proof. Besides, it's neat and clean. The beds were hard and supportive. The pillows were comfy just right for a good night sleep. The breakfast was worth mentioning. All-you-can-eat style with salmon roes, sashimi, salad, fresh carrot smoothie and many more Japanese food items available. All fresh and tasty. Highly recommended.

Been to Otaru for 3 times on day trip. But staying there for the first time. So happy i went with this hotel. 1 to 2 min walk from Otaru JR station. Top location, nearest to the station as compared to the rest. Superb onsen and provide free fruit and hershey chocolate popsicles after soaking in the onsen. The bed is comfy and room is clean. Top-notch experience. Short walk to Otaru morning market and Naruto Fried Chicken main branch.

If you are checking in from 3 to 5pm, good luck waiting for 1+ hour to do so. Long snaking queue. Recommend you leave your bags with the hotel staff. Go for some Naruto Fried Chicken, come back after 5+pm for instant check in.

The staff were good and some even spoke other languages including english and mandarin. The onsen and sauna were really good to relax in after a long day of touring around amongst the snow. They even have an "outside" onsen area which is exposed to the cold open air which is a nice experience when you are bathing in the hot natural onsen water. They give you a free small serve of ramen and an ice block after you onsen which really sweetens the deal. The location could not get any better. Its across the road from the mall, train and bus station. You can walk down hill to get to the centre of town including restaurants and the canal.

Good location opposite JR Otaru Station. Coffee dispenser in the lobby serves drinks 24h.Twin room is spacious because of small size beds, but the pillow is comfortable. Free ramen from 9.30pm to 11pm is tasty. The natural onsen opens from 3pm to 10am next day, At night after using the onsen , free ice cream is provided, in the morning free probiotic drink is provided . The entire hotel stained glass decor reflects the beautiful elements of Otaru culture. Breakfast buffet was very good, I enjoyed making kaisen don with ikura and fresh sashimi served.

It's right in front of the train station, and about a 10 minutes walk from the canal, a bit further away from the main shopping street. Onsen is very complete and open overnight. As I usually come back late I felt very relaxed not having to think about the time. It also features a sauna and a cold bath right next to it. Finally, the room was really big, nice looking and comfortable.

Breakfast (japanese buffet) was abundant in options, yet the ingredients felt as they were not of very high quality. Still tasted ok though.

Dormy Inn is located near Otaru train station. If taking a bus shuttle from Kiroro, the bus stops at an Otaruchikko station. We needed to take a short train ride train two stops to reach Otaru train station. We also liked that the market for fresh seafood is also nearby. We had two delicious seafood meals at the nearby market. The Shoya Noodles (free for guests) at the hotel (from 9.30 p.m.) was delicious.

Nothing.

The hotel itself is full with little surprises! Such as the hot spring (public bath house) has fresh milk (flavored ones too) vending machine for people to enjoy authentic Japanese Onsen, Free soba (japanese soy sause noodle soup) for one's craving for late night snacks. And a little room full of comics and TV for everyone to relax. Not to mention that their Breakfast is all you can eat for a relatively cheap price. Heck, there's even Sashimi to choose from in the breakfast menu. You surely won't see that often in Japan! Did I even mention everyone gets a free popsicle for leaving hot spring haha!

The room itself is a little old for my own taste, Also the blanket is a little too short for my height (183cm), but overall. it is just my person opinion~

Location, staff service, facilities, onsen, signature noodle, all very good and will definitely stay there again. Everything combined made my first trip alone, first time in Otaru and even first time in snow very enjoyable. Thank you.

Most of the time the temperature at the lift on each floor were too hot, comparing to other area along the corridor on the same floor, not sure of any reasons behind that I could think of, but that make people get sick easily from hot and cold out of sudden, a more consistent temperature might be better.
