Mitsui Garden Hotel Osaka Premier

Felt more suitable for business travels, not for leisure. It was not a bad experience but didn't match our expectations. The room was clean, but definitely not for 2 guests: the bed was small and the configuration of the… washing and toilet facilities was very inconvenient (I cannot say bathroom because there is literally no separate room). The sink and the mirror are in the room, next to the bed (there is a curtain between them if you want to separate). The shower is also in the room. Even though it has a glass door, you cannot enter with your exchange clothes or the towel as they get wet. The toilet is in a separate room but does not have a sink to wash your hands after using it. You have to open and close a door to get to the sink – we didn't like that at all for obvious reasons. From our point of view, it is a waste of space and not suitable for 2 guests, even if they are a couple. The hotel provides water, coffee, and tea in the room, but only for the first day of your stay. After that, there is no refill. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the Osaka train station and is located a few minutes' walk from Higashi Koganei station (Yotsubashi line) or a 10-minute walk to Yodoyabashi station (Midosuji line). It's slightly further away from attractions, but we knew that, so it wasn't a problem. The staff is very polite, but if the person you are talking to doesn't speak English, the answer to your request is "No" without further explanations (We asked the front desk for an umbrella – it was raining and in Japan you can usually find umbrellas to borrow in hotels – the answer was "We don't sell" :)))) We asked for a cab, and the answer was just... No :)))) We didn't mind because another staff member, seeing our amazed and confused faces, quickly came to solve the problem.

The lack of a proper room for the bathroom

An excellent hotel, it has everything you need to comfortably spend your vacation in Osaka. Separately, I want to note the magnificent view from the window of our room. Although breakfast was not included in our booking, we managed to have breakfast here. We were pleased with the large selection of dishes and drinks, every morning you could try something new. Another advantage of this hotel is the transport accessibility - you can easily get where you need to go.

There is nothing we can complain about - we are fully pleased our staying here.

The location is close to the main Osaka train station especially with the complimentary shuttle service but the service end after 21:30. It would be more convenient if the shuttle operating hour can be extended to 22:30 or 23:00 hrs. The scenery from the room window was very nice, over looking the river, especially at sun rise. The room often felt slightly warm. One suggestion regarding to energy saving, the duvet is too thick for sleep, so, I have to turn the air conditioning temperature to a very low setting in order to maintain a nice temperature throughout the night. Maybe, a thinner duvet would provide a better sleep during the summer period when outside temperature is over 25 degree.

The location of a power socket above the in-room refrigerator is very odd. I used this for the kettle which is potential hazard for passing to the toilet. If there is more power socket provided at the TV counter, this would be good for charging thing like computer. There was a trouser press inside the room, but it maybe more useful to have an iron in-room instead. The condition of the marble counter top at the sink can be better as there was black stain around the faucet.

Mitsui Garden Hotel Osaka Premier provides spacious well-appointed rooms and is a quality hotel with a public bath and outdoor jacuzzi. Toiletries and facilities in the public bath are high quality and very clean. Checkin and checkout, while automated, is easy to use and efficient. Plus, there's always a friendly staff ready to help with any issues. The hotel graciously took care of mailing back some personal belongings with no issues which I very much appreciated. If you want a quality hotel in central Osaka, this hotel will meet your requirements.

It is located very near a subway station and railway station. We were there on very hot days and I wish I knew that from JR railway station you can stay undergorund most of the trip to hotel. At train station you go underground and walk to subway and after the ride you exit subway at the right exit number and you are in few hundred meters from hotel. Nice hotel with a nice restaurant.

The bed was very small, more suited for one person than three. But otherwise very nice. Location is bit business-like. We went to Dotonbori every day so it would make sense to stay a bit closer to that location.

My room was on the highest floor overlooking the Tosahori river. A spectacular view indeed. The room configuration was spacious and comfortable. The room was very clean and quiet. Staff at reception were helpful, polite and responsive. The free shuttle bus to Osaka station saved time. Alternatively this hotel is located a few mins walk to Higashi Koganei station (Yotsubashi line)or a 10 min walk to Yodoyabashi station (Midosuji line) The breakfast is a delicious mix of Western and Japanese. There are several Konbini nearby offering quick food/drink options. There is a really good soba noodle restaurant just across the street. Otherwise Osaka station has many food options.

The property is well located. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and cooperative.

Booking.com website does not have the facility to book a room with breakfast included. It merely states pay for breakfast at the property. Unfortunately we were told that we could not have breakfast at the property as the hotel was full for breakfast for the days we were to be staying. I had to apply a little pressure and only then did they agree to provide us with breakfast. This is very inconvenient for a traveler as there is no place around the property to have breakfast.

It’s our second time at Umeda’s Mitsui. Having stayed at a couple of Mitsui locations in the kansai area we still like this one the best. The location was great, it’s at Osaka’s business centre so it’s really quiet neighbourhood compared to Namba / Shinsaibashi. The room we were in had a great view of of the bridge and skyscrapers - great for time lapse sunset or sunrise. The room was a reasonable size with access 16th floor public bath and laundry service was also really nice to have! Bonus - there is a hopper bus from the hotel to Osaka station and vice versa.

A unique city hotel within 15min. walking distance of Osaka/Umeda stations with a Japanese style semi-public bath available for guests. The Queen room (we booked a 'standard' Queen on Booking.com, were given a 'moderate' Queen on check-in - staff explained the terminology changes but it's the same room?!) was not large but well laid out and enough for 2 westerners with two carry-on sized suitcases. We did not have the breakfast but it looked inviting.

Nothing in particular comes to mind.

The hotel was nice and clean and staff were so friendly and helpful! And they gave me a present for my birthday which was so so nice ! Great views of the river as well which we were surprised about getting a view room too!

My suggestion for any first time travellers that haven’t been to Osaka, would be that this is quite far from all the main attractions in say that if you wanted something nice and quieter it would be suitable.
