Kyoto Tokyu Hotel

Courteous and professional staff. Beautiful property with lovely landscaping and pond surrounding the lobby area. Room was spacious. Nice facility that allowed us to have soft music on for better relaxation.

This was the only hotel that charged me at least ¥2000 more than the price that was shown on the Booking . com app. It was apparently property tax? But I didn’t argue and just paid it. The location was a distance from train station. Although there was shuttle bus provided but at times the small van sized shuttle was full so we had to pay for taxi.

This hotel is very modern yet it still feels very Japanese. I stayed in a nice spacious room which was looking at a nearby temple. The room was nice with lots of amenities provided (e.g. a razor, a hairbrush). The breakfast is quite nice, with a wide selection of food options (there is even a Japanese breakfast option). So all in all this is a very nice and very reasonably priced hotel so I would definitely stay here again.

The location could be a bit more central, but that said the hotel provides a free shuttle service to Kyoto station every half hour and there are many bus stops around the hotel so you can get anywhere using public transport.

It is not very convenient to major train station (Kyoto station) but there is a shuttle bus from the hotel. I walked or took a cab, I heard there is a bus as well. Hotel staff was very helpful sending my luggage, receiving my package. Breakfast at international buffet has great butter, it was the reason I went back for following mornings. Japanese breakfast feels very high class.

I wanted to stay in a room with double bed but it wasn't available, so I stayed in a room with two single bed. Overall, it was not a deal breaker. There is no onsen.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were great, spoke English well and were very helpful. The rooms were large. Buffet breakfast was good, choice of European or Japanese breakfast. There was a free shuttle bus to and from the train station, could walk it in 15-20 mins. 5 minute walk to Higashi Hongan-ji temple. Easy to get around on bikes. There is a bike hire place close to the hotel.

The hotel is not very central to Potoncho Alley, Gion or shopping district. Maybe a 15 minute cab ride or an hour plus walk. Not many restaurants around the area of the hotel.

Hotel is very very roomy compared to Osaka and Tokyo. It accomodate 4 people (individual beds-king single sized). Separate toilet and powder/shower and bath). Nothing better than coming back to a very pleasant room. Location is very close to bullet train. Has a great ramen and udon place around the corner. Breakfast was also very good. Also Decent view of mountains (I was on level 8).

A little too far to walk the main shopping strip with young kids. But taxi was only 15,00 yen. So no complaints.

Very convenient shuttle from Kyoto station to hotel w regular timings. Love the feel of the lobby with the water features and pool. Gives a very serene feeling. Breakfast wasn’t provided but there was a Royal host just opposite the hotel which we go for bf every morning. There r eateries nearby if you walk a little. Delicious ramen.

It would be better if the room size can be a bit bigger as we booked for a room for 3. It was not a squeeze just would be more comfortable. Toilet a tad small but contains everything.

The staff at reception all speak good enough English. 3. They were able to store my luggage before check in.

1. To use the gym you have to go to reception, complete a short form and then get a pass that allows you to get into the room. Whilst this didn't take long, it is a process you have to go through every single time you want to go to the gym so i didn't bother going back a second time as it was a bit too much hassle for me. 2. They stick to their check in times regardless of whether the room is available or not. 3. Not much to do in the area.

The staff is very helpful and always smiling and welcoming. The hotel is very nice and comfortable with a luxurious breakfast buffet. The free shuttle bus to and from Kyoto station is very convenient and runs every 30 min. Overall a very good experience and is recommended.

The breakfast menu does not specify vegetarian dishes you have to guess. I had potato wedges which i thought were only potato but in-fact they were mixed with Bacon which was not written on the display plate. I don’t eat bacon due to religious reasons but i ate that just because it was not written.

This was the best value hotel in our 3 weeks trip in Japan. Clean and comfortable beds, new towels, coffee and amenities changed daily, shuttle bus to and from Kyoto Station, incredible buffet breakfast and it's so affordable we would definitely stay again if we could. Staff is super friendly and spoke English incredibly well.

The windows had moisture due to the weather and water was pooling by the window sill. The bathroom and hotel room does show its age but it's more than adequate for our stay in Kyoto.
