Ca'di Dio-Small Luxury Hotel

In one short word Fantastic. As a world traveler this is right up there if not better than most five stars I've stayed at. Believe me coming from me that's an understatement. Over 40 yrs of traveling and this easily is in my top 5.

Nothing, everthing was wonderful from the attentive staff to all the small details. There are very few hotels I would personally recommend and risk my reputation on but this is an easy recommendation. Few hotels have me coming back for a second stay already planning a longer stay here.

The perfect location, a short amble to St Mark's Square, with its own peaceful haven in the beautiful courtyard away from the crowds. This is truly 5 star luxury and service. The staff could not have been more helpful and informative. Food is excellent, breakfast in the courtyard was a real highlight for me.

Their cocktail lounge could perfect the standards - the signature drinks were a bit niche.

Ca’ di Dio is in a fabulous location - some of the rooms have stunning views of the Lagoon. it’s a short walk to Piazza SanMarco, the Doge’s Palace etc. there is a vaporetto stop immediately in front of The hotel and it also has its own water taxi jetty. The hotel was like a cool oasis from the hot August heat - the courtyard bar was used every night before we went out again to explore the city. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The rooms were stylish, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast (included) was terrific - really good selection of quality products. I can’t really think of anything to fault the hotel and we would definitely consider staying again.

rooms smells like fish (probably because of the closeness to the canals?), staff wasn't helpful getting out of the boat taxi and needed to be activated to help, room malfunctioned electricity and took them a while to fix. The restaurant is fairly bad and highly overpriced (got a tower of 10 whole pieces of pasta for like 40 euro, and they were very serious about the artistic dish.. it was funny but we had to go eat another dinner afterwards elsewhere).. sofa bed was not comfortable, impossible to control heat in the room to suit our needs. room came with small kitchen but had nothing in it, we had to specially ask for glasses, dish soap and other basics.. they seemed surprised we actually wanted to use the kitchen, again, funny, but not so practical.

Fantastic location if you like to be slightly away from the centre of the city. Great views from the front of the hotel of the lagoon (opting for a lagoon view room will enhance your stay). Lunch/dinner and the bar are fantastic and there is a decent selection for breakfast. Helpful staff who helped us organise trip to Murano (hotel provide complimentary taxi at scheduled times during the day), book tours and advise on the best places to go for the Gondola ride/booking tickets for attractions.

The phone in the room was a little difficult to use and it was sometimes tricky finding staff (if I'm being picky). Don't let that hold you back though - if you book, you won't regret it.

Fantastic location ! 10 minute walk to San Marco sq and just far enough to be out of the craziness of it! Arsenale vaporetto stop just outside which works great if you don't fancy walking through busy streets to get to other landmarks . Lots of lovely restaurants in the back streets of Castello... they are all small so book ahead if going in busy times of the year. Breakfast in the hotel was lovely too ! Our rooms were truly amazing ! We got an upgrade so thank you so much Ca'di Dio for making our stay in Venice extra special! Rooms are beautifully designed , well insulated from the noise and super comfy beds... had the best sleep ever there! All the staff were wanderful and couldn't do enough for us ! 10 out 10 !

Nothing really only wish we could have stayed longer!

Everything was perfect - breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The courtyard area was great and relaxing at all hours of the day. Our suite was spotless and equipped with everything that we needed (we loved the espresso machine and the big closets). The bed and linens were also incredibly comfortable and had USB ports beside the bed that also charged our electronics very quickly. Every single member of the staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and courteous - whenever we had a question or a request, they were always ready and willing to handle. All in all, this was an amazing stay and such a hidden gem in a quieter corner of Venice (but still incredibly close to all the main attractions/less than 15 minutes walking to St. Mark's Square).

This isn't a dislike, just a suggestion - a second wastebin would be nice to have in the sitting room or bedroom so that guests don't have to throw out all their trash in the bathroom wastebin.

Beautiful new modern hotel with outstanding staff and service. The location is fantastic to explore Venice and their restaurant is excellent.

There are a lot of charming small hotels in historic buildings in Venice: Ca' di Dio is one of the newest. This elegant restoration of a former women's refuge is constructed around two beautiful internal courtyards, both of which would offer delightful hanging-out options in a Venetian summer. The frontage faces onto Riva degli Schiavoni with fantastic views across the lagoon, while the glazing is good enough to shelter you completely from the noise of the street. The hotel has a spa, which we didn't try; its own restaurant, which knows what it's doing; a lively bar with engaging bartenders who will mix up the cocktail of your dreams at the slightest opportunity; a separate breakfast room with a generous choice of cooked food and morning goods; an exceptionally charming front-of-house team who will drop everything to sort out your queries and never make you feel it's too much trouble. In the bedroom, the hotel is generous with tea/coffee/water supplies, which adds to one's feeling of wellbeing; as does the discreet fragrance which wafts throughout the building.

We are not young: the lighting over the mirror in the bathroom makes it hard to shave/do one's hair without squinting. And there are no drawers, which makes the storage of small items of clothing a challenge - things tended to get lost in the dark at the back of the low-level shelves. At breakfast, chafing dishes would have helped the temperature of the cooked items. All these are minor quibbles during a five day stay.

Stuff needs to be more attentive and focused if they want to join the league of truly leading hotels. service was quite average. later on however it got worse when a porter dropped the luggage bag into the canal water by accident whilst waiting for water taxi. We barely managed to salvage the bag but some of the clothes and even the passport did get wet which made the whole experience of the departure from the hotel extremely uncomfortable. I would have expected some kind of apology note from the hotel but haven’t hear back. I think dropping a luggage into the canal is a bit of a ‘no’ for a hotel based in Venice!
