The accommodation was outstanding. It was a suite with two rooms and bathroom. It was close to everything. Marisa and Paolo were absolutely brilliant. They were so helpful but especially when somebody took my bag with my passport. This is a topnotch B+B

I'm not keen on Catania. Wherever you walk you are accompanied by rubbish under your feet and swirled around by the wind. It's a great pity; Via Etnea is a magnificent street with lovely piazzas and buildings but spoiled by rubbish. I did find a relatively clean street with dozens of attractive bars and restaurants right beside the B+B

Breakfast was wonderful. There were hard boiled eggs, meats and cheeses, pastries, cappuccino/espresso machine and juices. The owner Paolo and his wife were very gracious hosts and helped us with very good advice on how to travel and places to see. They have a street festival right outside the front door which displayed Sicilian culture with various goods to sell and local seafood and produce. The Metro was very close and taking the coach bus to Taormina was easy. Returning from Taormina on the train was just as easy. The town square was very energetic.

The stairs are difficult if you aren’t in good shape.

It was a nice stay, the rooms have high ceilings and big windows that are specific to old buildings in that area. Being on the last floor, you have to climb a stairs and there is no elevator, so if you have extensive luggage it might be a problem. The windows are facing Via S. Gaetano alla Grotta, where a drift market is taking place 6 days a week, so it's quite noisy and they leave behind a bit of a mess. Also at night the area is very animated as it's near Via Gemmellaro, one of the streets know for bars and night life. Breakfast - was good, the breakfast area a bit small but it compensates with the balcony view and the hospitality of the host. The location is perfect, central, one metro stop to Catania Centrale Train station, you can find and book trips to Etna or around Catania easily in the Piazza Stesicoro that is 3 min walking distance.

Rooms are within an original family property that has been restored whilst retaining many of the buildings original features. Our Room was extremely light and spacious, tastefully decorated with antique items and furniture. We had a very comfortable stay. Lovely breakfast with local produce and fresh pastries. Paolo and his family made us very welcome during our stay and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. We appreciated the early check in and help in organising our Mount Etna tour in advance of our arrival. We really enjoyed our stay at Fera O;luna and would definitely stay again.

It was a little tricky to find the property as we arrived when the market was set up.

From the moment we stepped through the doorway into the cool and quiet foyer of Fera O' Luni, leaving the heat noise and excitement of Catania’s daily market place, we knew we had entered somewhere special. The warm and enthusiastic welcome our host, Paolo offered was perfectly matched by the classical luxury that unfolded as we climbed the stairs, passing family artefacts and curiosities as we made our way to the top floor of this magical building. Our first room was spacious, sunny and very clean with air conditioning to escape the summer heat and a crisp sumptuous queen size bed, perfect for the weary traveller. This was matched by another two rooms accessed via amazing views of Mt Etna. Two of the top floor rooms shared access to a beautiful terrace, providing the perfect space for evening drinks and a chance for all of our party to gather and relax. Our group also utilised an apartment style room on a lower floor providing ample space for all of us to rest and claim some privacy. Paolo provided plenty of fabulous recommendations for dining in the old red light district- there simply weren’t enough meal times to enjoy the lavish food on offer. A delicious breakfast was served in a bright airy dining room with a bottomless caraffe of freshly squeezed orange juice (it was out of seasons but he managed to provide it for our special request!). It was a privilege and a delight to be welcomed so warmly to the elegance of Fera O’Luni. We thank our wonderful host, Paolo and will dream of the experience until our next visit.

The location is in the heart of Catania so you do not need the car to enjoy the city. A 24 hours secured park is one block away. There is a terrace between the rooms that make very enjoyable a drink or to grab a bite in a quiet space.

You need to have a sherpa like attitude to go up and down the stairs up to the top floor. It is suggested to carry smaller bags rather than a single heavier one. Breakfast should include local products or could be ordered from one of the many bars/pastry shops in the surroundings.

The room was very atmospheric and beautiful and the owner was very sweet and warm. The location was just perfect for getting know to the Catania city centre. The breakfast was good.

Even though the location is very handy and central, the market on the street is noisy and a bit messy. We woke up every morning early as their started to prepare the market around 6 am and the nights were noisy as well. Our room was on the 3rd floor, which was ok for us, but might be tough for elderly people as there were no lift there.

Atmosphere of the old house. This is what we expected in Catania. Perfect location. Walking distance to the train station and bus stop. Close to the major attractions. 10 minutes from fish market. Very, very helpful owner Paolo and host Daniele. Our flight have been diverted to Palermo due to Etna eruption. Thanks to Paulo we have been able to get to Catania with no issues.

A little bit noisy because of the market, but we have been advised so we have been ready. No complaints.

This is a jewel in the heart of Catania! I stayed in a single room in Fera O’ Luni for one week. The room located in an old, well renovated building was beautiful. I loved the high ceilings and beautiful tiles. The breakfast was perfect - a combination of sweet and savoury dishes with many traditional Sicilian ones. The hosts were extraordinary. Very helpful, warm-hearted and friendly! I was sad to leave and will certainly return when I’m in Catania again.

Even before the arrival, the communication with the hosts was very kind and effective. The location is very good, in the middle of a market and short walking distance from many places in the city. The breakfast is good, and since we left very early in the second morning (before breakfast hour), the hostess gave us some food and and drink on the evening before so we could take them away with us. There is good airconditioning in the room. Everything was comfortable.

There are many stairs with no elevator. I knew it before because I read about it in other reviews here, but it didn't matter to us since we had only backpacks. Take in count that if you have big or heavy luggage it's less comfortable. The shower is very small with no place inside to put the toiletries, and the shower glass was not sealed well so the water squirted out a bit. Personaly I was missing a fridge in the room. I think it could be more pleasant to have the opportunity to keep our drinks cold. The wifi didn't work well in the room, only in the lower floor.
