Hotel Federico II

We loved our room, first of all. It was a large, sunlit, quiet room. The bed was extremely comfortable with a very good-quality mattress. It had adequate storage facilities and free bottled water. Above all, the room was spotlessly clean and housekeeping were superb. The town itself is a gem and very close to the main sites in the area. The staff, all of them, were amazingly and genuinely nice. It shows they really care for their guests. The breakfast was superb and it had both cold and hot food. If you go there in your ċar, there is on-street parking nearby. Follow the directions given to you by the hotel.

We stayed at the Federico for 1 night in between Etna and godfather tours. Value for money was exceptional and our host could not have been more friendly or accommodating. Breakfast starts at 8 but we needed to leave by that time so she opened breakfast up at 7.30 just for us. Exceptional service!!! The location is right in the centre of a medieval town with very narrow streets and we were sent instructions in the day how to avoid the narrowest (not that I managed it as I got lost). Overall a really unexpected, tremendous value gem in a fab location.

Gem of a hotel right in the centre of the village. Very friendly staff. Really nice local restsurant 50m away. Able to store our bicycles on a veranda with Gorgeous views of the town

It was a wonderful stay at a beautiful hotel. It is very classic and comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms are very well equipped. The decor is very relaxing and the location is to die for. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the lady concierge but she was lovely! The breakfast was very complete/delicious and the service is very kind. The parking in Castiglione is limited but we were contacted beforehand with very useful recommendations. A real 10/10!

The most welcoming welcome by Maria. Our bad italian was no problem. She explained all in English. Informed us about the town, what to see, and even sent us the better route to the hotel, so we would not get stuck in narrow streets. Fabulous room, proper, beautiful balcony and a shared terrace. The town itself is unique, we had a great dinner at 'El Presidente' ,what a magnificent host, mr Salvo, and what great food, cooked by his father.

I can not think of any minus at all.

Difficult to find the way to it but not the fault of the hotel. It’s difficult to drive around the narrow streets of a medieval Italian town. The hotel staff told us they are trying to improve the directions they send their clients but even with those, we had problems arriving at the hotel. A very helpful local man helped us by telling us to follow his car.

The hotel is right on top of the village and next to the castle. You can drive there and even find free parking - 20 meters away from the hotel. This is a family managed hotel and everyone was super friendly and making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Breakfast offered a full range of local treats. Our room was big and spoiled us with amazing views of the valley and the Etna.

Lovely family-run boutique hotel in the centre of the beautiful town of Castiglione di Sicilia. Extremely nice staff. Comfortable nice rooms, nice breakfast, perfectly clean. P.s.: Ask the owner to organise a trekking tour through some of many paths in the territory of Castiglione and even among vineyards) and accompany you

The communication was swift and reassuring. Due to a planned parade we were forced to park further away from the property as expected but they quickly arranged someone to pick us up. Generally though all the staff were friendly. The breakfast was good and the times were flexible. The room itself was really clean and a nice mix of rustic with modern comforts .

In our room the WI-FI didn’t work, we got in late though (and just stayed a night) so didn’t want to call the emergency helpline for this, maybe it was just a simple technical error.

The staff and hotel were just fabulous and our room was large with amazing views. The extra terrace upstairs was a bonus. Unfortunately due to me putting my back out just after we arrived, we couldn't stay, but the staff were so helpful and even helped out with an emergency take-out meal from a local restaurant. They kindly refunded the extra night we had booked. Would love to revisit.
