Sheen Falls Lodge

Hotel and grounds are spectacular! Staff are ALL pleasant and knowledgeable and willing to help in any way. Common areas are all lovely, working fireplace near entrance, a library room, Pub and Bistro were great. Waitstaff and bartenders were simply and willing to make any drink for you. Bistro setup more like a very comfortable living ro, plenty of space. Food was tops, fish, salmon, apps and mains all high marks. Great hotel for walking along the waterway, the falls, local low traveled road, woods and cemetery! We ended up with a fantastic corner suite. Upgraded without prodding or cajoling. Very large, nice views on 2 sides, very large bath with shower and tub.

Hot water took several minutes, really! Needed a taxi ot a restaurant beyond Kenmare and Freenow app had none. Hoteled arranged taxi was a beautiful new Peugeot but the 5 minutes ride 25eu!!!

Warmth and efficiency of staff, thoughtfulness of staff - for instance offering a complementary return shuttle to town for a booked dinner. Facilities are fabulous, room massively spacious and quiet, location is stunning (waterfall, expansive grounds), plenty of rooms to relax and read by the fireplace.

Breakfast is OK but a bit disappointing given everything else is so superb. Orange juice is not freshly squeezed, sometimes all tables are already used when you arrive for breakfast and you have to wait a bit in the corridor.

Amazing and helpful stuff. Really good restaurant with lovely food.

the swimming pool was a bit dirty and the floor there was falling apart

Dinner menu was great, but the portion sizes were very varied, the sole portion was good, the gnocci portion was small. The cheese board was poor, 3 pieces of cheese, cut so thinly that you could nearly see through them. Unfortunately one of these premises that believe 'if you can afford to stay/dine here, you do not need the nourishment'

The room was amazing down by the sheen river so peaceful. Food and staff were exceptional

The pool was the one thing that probably left the place down but other than that everything else was amazing

The evening meal in the bar/ restaurant was very disappointing.. it was a McDonald's cheeseburger and chips on a plate ..

beautiful river view, excellent service from staff, lovely welcome drink, offer to help with baggage. Room was beautifully styled with lots of reading material, beautiful bathroom with fluffy towel/dressing gowns. the pool temperature was perfect, as was the jacuzzi temp

slight odour in our en-suite bathroom (159). portion sizes of the mains and dessert in the stables restaurant were quite small (fillet mignon, fondant)

slightly late getting room. cost of room service - just wanted additional water for bed time as had drank the little bottles provided. even a jug of tap water would have been fine for what I needed. Cost €6.50 per 750ml bottle of water & €5 for it to be brought to room - was shocked!

From the moment we arrived we were made feel welcome and comfortable. From arrival until departure the hospitality could not have been better. There was always someone on hand to assist us, all staff were friendly and welcoming in an understated way. The food was exceptional in the Falls Restaurant, and we were also delighted to be able to dine in the new stables brasserie which is a beautiful new addition to the complex. The cosy atmosphere of the hotel facilitated chatting with other guests which enhanced our stay. We will be definitely be back!

Incredible breakfast, wonderful service from every single staff member from the moment we arrived. Special mention for the fantastic Dimitar who kindly drove us in to Kenmare on two of our evenings there. The bed was the comfiest we ever slept in!

The spa is a little overpriced.
