Shamrock Lodge Hotel

The hotel is set in pleasant gardens with generous parking. Room large, tasteful and comfortable with opening window and nice aspect away from machine noise as requested. Good bathroom plenty space for toiletries and plenty hot water and towels, shower over bath. Pleasing contemporary decor throughout, revealing all the hallmarks of a a classy, elegant old world hotel, evident in is generously proportioned layout and distinctive ambient furnishings. An intriguing, array of past photographs are on view of visiting dignitaries and talent including state figures and the infamous, Grace Kelly and John Mc Cormack, among others. recalling its status as a superior establishment. The dining room and late serving of vibrant sea bass and steak, dinner with decent red wine served by unhurried patient staff. On departing, glimpsed a lovely ball room, beautifully clad out.

The lovely dining room atmosphere, marred somewhat by a giant screen dominating the room commanding attention to the sport of the day. The tired, breakfast fare needs updated . Aside from the basic fry please provide the mandatory perks, real coffee and orange juice befitting a fine hotel. Also some real muesli choices prunes, berries nuts seeds, homemade bread. Bedroom carpet a bit dull/tired,out of keeping with pleasant decor. A few tweaks would reinstate the the feel of 4 *that befits this fine hotel.

This has to be one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in for a very long time... Cannot fault in any way, waiting staff and chefs went above and beyond call of duty, it was my sons birthday and the staff made it extra special with a little sing song coming from kitchen while waitress bringing cake, It was soo nice for us, as for the food well that was out of this world.... The price was very reasonable for what we had.... Cannot fault our experience here in any way. Will definitely be back and will recommend to family and friends... Well done shamrock Lodge... 👏👏

No brainer... NOTHING. Exceeded our expectations if I am honest....

We were greeted by a lovely lady on reception who welcomed us & was very efficient. We were given an apartment with 2 bedrooms, both had ensuite & a living room with another bed. So we had a room each, which was great. The beds were comfy, and the rooms had plenty of storage space. There were tea/ coffee making facilities plus a fridge microwave TV & a desk. We arrived in the evening time and we decided to have dinner there. The staff were great a young team but very helpful happy & charming. The room was bright, airy, and clean. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We took our drinks to the lobby after dinner & every member of staff was friendly & welcoming. Breakfast next morning was well presented & tasty. We really enjoyed our stay we got good value & we would recommend this lovely hotel.

Our apartment was very comfortable but there was a steep stairs up to it.

The rooms looked just like in the pictures, the beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were nice and clean - only the stone plate on the sink was not good levelled, so the water was always running down on the right-hand side, when washing hands. And a handheld shower would have been nicer than a stationary one. But that really were only minor issues. The rooms had a view over the gardens, which was very nice and quiet. The hotel, the entrance, the breakfast room and the bar were really nice and we really felt comfortable. We can understand, why this hotel is a good venue for wedding celebrations. The hotel even has lifts, so you don't have to carry your luggage up the stairs (not something every hotel has in Ireland) and a vending machine for mineral water and other things. And last but not least the staff was really friendly, helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay there very much and would choose the hotel again when we were in the area.

The hotel was exceptional. We arrived early but they phoned me when room ready as we had strolled in to the town. On return they upgraded us to "the Grace Kelly suite". It was amazing and I would like to express my sincere thanks. The dinner food was 10 star. We didn't come for breakfast until after 9.15 and I sent it back but they couldn't do fresh as apparantly it finished at 10. I got some down town later. Overall an enjoyable stay and will b back.

Attitude of staff at breakfast who told 2 girls 3 times that breakfast was finished and refused to make them coffee. They reluctantly gave them a fry. Without a ☺ or greeting.

The room was spacious and the bed was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was also a good size with a decent shower. Breakfast had plenty of choice - both hot and cold. It was in a very nice, quiet location but within easy walking distance of the main town (where we found a nice pub with a good live band).

The only fault I could mention was the dead flowers in the breakfast room (and there were a lot of them!) but to be fair the rest of my party did not notice until I pointed it out and at least it was obvious that they had been fresh flowers and not fake!

The Shamrock Lodge is my regular sleepover for the attendance of a yearly event in Athlone, and offer the best quality-price trade-off that I have found in the area so far. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff have always been extremely helpful even at odd times or with unusual requests (like when I needed help recovering a lost passport). Couldn't recommend it more.

There's no way to fix this really, but if you have business to attend to in Athlone, then this location might be a little far off, but not by a great deal if you're happy with a 15-min walk and can't be bothered taking a taxi for it.

Lovely lady at reception. Was a very warm welcoming person and a great choice for front of house. Facilities were great, easily organised things with reception. Good rooms with large mirrors and parking with in view of the room. In the town and yet it doesn't feel that way. Lovely area and would visit again.

Needs a large light in the room as side lamps don't make it bright enough to apply make up etc. However the large mirrors were great

Bed bases seriously could do with changing though. Bedding itself was crisp and spotless, but it ruined it a bit by being layed on very dirty (massive splashes and whatever origin stains on sides😑) bed's bases. Interior of room and hotel in general is bit tired and outdated, but staff definitely do good job by keeping it clean, so kudos for that👍

The staff were exceptionally helpful I was with two little babies and they made sure our stay was the most relaxing and comfortable. Providing is with an extremely spacious family room that had a very safe balcony that provided a lovely summer breeze. And the room service was extremely fast! I never thought I would’ve enjoyed a mini holiday in a hotel with small kids but this hotel proved me wrong 10/10 would book again !
