The Fern Residency Aurangabad

Overall I LOVED this hotel! - Absolutely outstanding staff - the best hotel staff I encountered during my stay in India - professional, clearly well-trained in customer care, helpful without being too overbearing, able to assist with any need or request in a professional and friendly manner while making you feel at ease and without hovering over you (unlike in many other places - where the 'intensity' of staff can otherwise be a bit much for Europeans who are not used to it :) ) The staff here were just the right balance of highly attentive without being intrusive, loved every one of the personnel! - Amazing, VERY big room - we didn't count on the room basically being a suite with two 'separate' rooms and we were positively surprised at the amount of space. Modern, luxurious feel, comfortable beds, in-room amenities provided (and those that happened to be missing promptly remedied), very nice toiletries as well - Very good breakfast, with lots of fruits and fresh options of non-Indian breakfast food - best-quality hotel breakfast I've had in India - Great value for money - I haven't been to a place I've been treated this well in this price range for a long time; I would definitely stay here or in any Fern hotel again next time I'm in India

There is basically nothing I didn't really like, all the important things were great! There are only small suggestions: - The quality of the (Western) food for room service could be improved - it wasn't the best for the money that it cost - I wasn't able to get hot water out of the shower on one of the nights - but this was a minor inconvenience - The pool ambience could use some improvement (maybe more plants, more lights etc. to make it feel more cozy) and the water could be a bit cleaner

The Fern Residency was a good choice for us. We stayed here only for the purpose of visiting Ellora and Ajanta and they were very efficient and helpful in organising a car for us to do this. They were also v efficient in organising a pick up for us from the station on arrival and dealing with the delayed train etc. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good, with eggs and dosa etc to order, and we had the hotel's evening buffet one night which was good food and decent value. We didn't investigate the local area much but there are two restaurants v close by: Bhoj, and Green Leaf where we had a good meal. I would definitely consider the Fern Residency brand elsewhere having experienced it in Aurangabad now.

Great stay, food was very good at the buffet and from the menu. All the staff were very nice and friendly. The restaurant staff were really great. We ordered curry for our son who doesn't eat even remotely spicy food, and they were very nice to accommodate that. Comfortable and spacious room. Great shower. Good choices for breakfast and dinner.

Not a big deal, just a couple of little things. Our card got deactivated on the morning of the check out day, even though it was well before the check out time. They forgot to leave us towels when they cleaned the room (but they were delivered quickly after we called), and the garbage was not taken out. The hall on our floor had a strange smell on our second day. But overall the stay was very pleasant.

Staff are great, really friendly, professional and helpful. Bed super comfortable. Room cleaning excellent, water and toiletries all replenished every day. Bfast good, coffee machine for espresso and eggs to order.

Pool was closed for my 3 day stay for maintenance , would have been good to know. Gym is hopeless, 1 jogging machine and some dumbbells in a small room. Terrible smell in bathroom once water is run, also mentioned in other reviews- I just put up with it and made sure door shut and showers short.

Breakfast was good. We even had dinner on several occasions and the food was great. Service is excellent. Probably if they could have more choices for breakfast.

We had modified our booking from 2 to 3 nights with Booking.com but it seems that this was not communicated to the hotel management and while we were busy touring Aurangabad region on the 3rd day, we received calls from the hotel to check out etc. That unpleasant incident could have been avoided by Booking.com through better communication!

The location was good for access to the airport and we had a very good wine shop next door. Otherwise a very busy road with not much to entice tourists. The room was quiet comfortable but with no outlook at all. The breakfast ok. Nice coffee you brewed yourself but not really any table service. Dirty plates piled up and as the cups were small many trips to the one coffee machine. We stayed for three breakfasts and the food offered didn’t change much.

The breakfast could have had more variations and I don't like having to read a menu from the small screen on the phone as was the case when we had dinner in their restaurant. I want to peruse and get an overview of food on offer which is impossible on a small phone screen. They could have had one paper copy!

The hotel is very well maintained and in a good location. It's a 10 min drive away from the airport, 10 min walk to Connaught garden for all the local street food and located near some excellent local restaurants as well. The restaurant at the hotel served good food - local and other cuisines. We liked the quick check-in and spacious rooms here.

The travel desk could have been better. We found the taxi prices to be a bit overpriced. The staff was not well informed about public transport options when we enquired for our travel to Ajanta.

> Condition of the bathroom fittings was poor. I think the water treatment needs to be improved for hardness of water. That's why you see stains on fittings and leakage from showers > The hall next to dining facility playing loud music for some birthday celebration throughout when we were having dinner. They should keep the door closed during such events.

1. Receiving us with a glass of juice at the front desk was something special that I haven’t seen any hotel in my world travel experience. 2. Ms Kumari the Duty Manager was awesome in her job in explaining things to their customers in every aspect. She was very much understanding especially when my Credit Card didn’t work for some reasons which I figured out that it was my failure to up my POS limit in my account profile. Kudos to Ms. Kumari. 3. The restaurant was awesome in every respect. Ms. Premula was very helpful in taking care of our special needs in taking lunch during our Ajantha, Ellora visits. 4. Finally it’s GM Mr Rajendra Joshi is an excellent leader. Resulting employee motivation. He is lucky. In all everything we liked. Minor things would be more helpful if implemented. 1. Providing a hand towel hanging rod. 2. Making the bathroom lock from inside easy to handle especially by seniors and young kids. I have discussed with it GM Mr Rajendra Joshi.

Nothing

I liked the location, and that it was value for money. I also liked the service of the travel desk, and the car and driver, which were at our disposal.

I did not like the swimming pool, which was sort of in a hangar, quite un-inviting, seemed quite dark. Twice our key stopped working. And the last day the hotel was invaded by a horde of student, which immediately started to make noise. Fortunately the hotel listened to us, and we were moved to another room.
