Regency Madurai by GRT Hotels

We had expected it to be an old property, which it was, but pleasantly it was quite well maintained. The rooms were spacious and clean. Staff was very helpful. In fact, I had enquired about the best route to travel from Madurai to Mysore and to answer my question, they sent one of their staff drivers to my room who gave me all the information happily. That was a very nice gesture. Also, the complimentary fruits in the room was a nice one. A special mention for their restaurant, the breakfast was by-far one of the best spread we had during our tour... excellent South Indian fare and super great filter coffee!!

I had twin beds in my room and I was staying single. I had some weird feeling some time in the night like something was biting or causing itching. I shifted to the other one and then could sleep well. But could be a one-off case, out of the 4 rooms we had taken, no one else had this problem.

The place was absolutely clean and the staff was extremely professional, helpful, and friendly, particularly @Diwakar, @Muthukumar in housekeeping were very helpful. For example, I had a video conference I had to take from hotel and they changed they did an early clean up of the room to accommodate me.

There were issues with some bathroom door not closing properly and the writing desk a bit shaky. But the moment we reported they got it repaired. There was an issue with wifi early morning 4 AM one day but they set it right by 7 AM after the IT person logged in.

Clean and quiet. Staff including restaurant staff were very pleasant and obliging. Vegetarian breakfast spread was very good. Non veg appeared good too. (We stuck to vegetarian food only as this was a temple tour for us) Our driver had accommodation in the hotel.

Access to the hotel was very complicated as GPS tried to take us through narrow streets that weren't big enough for a car !

great staff.. first day hiccups about occupancy number where we chose 3 people in the booking but the total count the search was put for was for 3 in the reservation tab. the staff fixed that and ensured that our stay was increased on a day by day basis. breakfast and facilities are great.

the prices of the basic items Vs outside in the restaurant are more than double. eg. parotta is 200 rs while in a restaurant it's 50 rs. buffet is reasonable for someone who eats well! there is no beauty treatments in the spa. it's an Ayurvedic Center.

The room was spacious, courteous staff, the swimming pool, though not too big, was good for our needs. The gym is well equipped. The breakfast spread was excellent.

Booking.Com gives the impression that there are multiple beds in the room(by giving options like this: option 1: 1 double bed, 2 single beds, option 2: 1 extra large double bed), it turned out to be not true. They could give you extra beds to accommodate the guests, they do not have rooms with multiple beds to accommodate larger family groups. But they did offer us the extra bed at no cost.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room service and cleanliness was good as well.

The swimming pool was really small and as per the images and expectations. Also the room booking said it was room with a view which wasn't there. The room size was very small felt not value for money

The place was spick and span. Housekeeping was on the dot and thorough The room was well stocked with nibbles. The food was wholesome and fresh. Just what one wants whole travelling. And yes... The team was well trained efficient and warm.

. I was checking out at 6:25 am and asked if they could give some light breakfast on the go... even a fruit was okay The onduty front desk officer flatly refused, saying that breakfast was only from 7. As a business traveller, leaves a sour taste...

Regency Madurai is a good option while visiting Madurai. Staffs are courteous and go extra mile to help you. Restaurant offers good food. Location is good, away from the city centre still close. Tiruppuramkundram too is near by. this is my third visit to this hotel and will opt again if visiting Madurai

I felt the price is a bit higher considering its not a five star hotel. The tariff should be within 3000 per day.

Good central location, close to Meenakshi temple. Very friendly staff, great room service. Food we had was excellent. Beds, bathroom and other facilities were clean

We requested a 1 hour later check out but even though the occupancy was low we could not get them to agree so we had to pack up and check out in a hurry, they could have done better. The cost is on the higher side so the value aspect is something I question.

We have been staying at the GRT Madurai for many years and had not visited for along time due to COVID travel restrictions. We love the friendliness and the warmth of the staff. We had initially planned to stay for 4 days but ended up extending our trip to 8 days because our daughter fell ill. The hotel were so kind to arrange for a room visit by the doctor. They made every comfort available for us to look after her while she recovered. It is easy to judge a place when everything is good, but a place distinguishes itself when you have a problem and how they are able to help. Well done GRT Madurai, you will always have us coming back in the future also.

The only thing I think they could do better is offer at least 4 devices per room and not just 3. It is common now a days for a person to have at least two devices (I have more) and if we are taking double occupancy, then 4 is a minimum a hotel should offer.
