Hotel Schloss Waldeck

Exceptional View of the lake and dam. I'm glad that the lake had water during the time of our stay. We rode the gondolas down and walked to the water for an hour-long ferry ride around the lake. We took the self-guided tour of the castle and marveled at its history as a women's prison.

I've seen pictures of various times when the lake was nearly empty. DUE DILEGENCE would be to make sure that the lake has water during the time of your stay. This place would lose 72% of its appeal with an empty lake.

We particularly enjoyed the view, the fresh air, the quality of the beds and the wonderful bathroom (comfort room). We had dinner at the Alte Turmuhr restaurant and had a 4 course menu - it was very good. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

We found the breakfast options could have been more varied and quality of some of the items could have been higher (coffee, salmon and few others), but overall ok. Our meal at the restaurant was a nice experience with professional waiters and good food, but it fell a bit short considering the cost of 100+ € per person.

Nothing, nothing, nothing beats a romantic stay like a night in a medieval castle. We stayed for the missus birthday in Schloss Waldeck. We had clear skies, sunny weather. And an Absolutely stunning view. Great food and a stunning view. This hotel deserves it's "excellent" rating!

What we didn't like? hmmm... well we finished our holiday here. so going home is what we didn't like.

This is a privilege to stay in a castle on a hill overlooking a lake. The views from the restaurant were amazing. The rooms had great views and the bed was comfortable.

I didnt like that there was no coffee/tea facilities in the room but room service was efficient. Breakfast was great but some hot food was empty and not replaced. The restaurant food at the evening meal was traditional German but quite out dated and small menu , seemed tired.

Hot water issue. one of the four days there was no hot water available. the staff were aware of the problem when we questioned them, but did not offer to tell us prior to finding out ourselves. There is a fault they are trying to locate and fix.

The young receptionist when we arrived was not at all politely. Actually, she was root in her behaviour, and we, as guest, had the impression that we disturbed her at surfing at the internet. We do, in fact, speak an understandable German, and make our vacations in Germany speaking German. She was, however, not in any way helpful, and did not try or “had the time” to understand our questions, although we were the only persons in the reception. She emphasised, when we asked her to speak a little bit slowly, that “she did explained everything already” in German. She couldn’t speak any English, she said, and repeated again, that she did already told is everything we needed to know…. However, all the other staff we met was very nice and sweet.

Exceptionally beautiful location! We had dinner at the Restaurant and the food was amazing, and the staff was very professional and kind.

Location. View from terraces are amazing and History to match. Pleasant staff. For my wife. Best hair dryer so far on our trip.

Menus in both could have been better with more local produce. Beef was from New Zealand ! No Aircon.

Quiet, very clean, very comfortable and stylish, historic setting, good food and kind well trained staff.

Shame the Kaminzimmer was shut, especially in winter. Also Turmuhr restaurant (but Altane was also extremely good).

there should be tea/coffee with a kettle ready in the room. that’s the basic amenities there was no information prior to arrival that the massage service was not available
