Monbijou Hotel

The breakfast, although not included, was fabulous. Lots of choices and high quality. And the breakfast staff were very welcoming and efficient. The room was small but well set up and the bed was very comfy. The location was great. I could walk to most places I was interested in seeing, and it was super easy to get a cab or take the train.

The reason I didn't give this hotel a higher rating is that the elevator broke on the morning of my last day there and there was no notice on the elevator and I was on the 5th floor. When I walked down the 5 floors and told the receptionist, she did not apologize for the inconvenience, but just said "yes we know and the repair service has been called". When I had to carry my suitcase down five flights of stairs to check out, there was no offer made to help me with my baggage either. Also, while I understand why they did it, I found it a little annoying that you had to sign up for breakfast the day before and say when you were planning to dine. This seems to make a vacation morning a smidge less relaxing.

the beds were two separate mattresses which slipped to the side when laying together in the middle.

I had a small room with a view of a charming courtyard and interesting buildings on the quiet side of a very busy street. Couldn't hear a thing and the area was full of bars that cater to young people. And the trolley cars ran as close as six feet from the building walls. The small size of the room was much less of a factor because the ceiling rose in a peak over the bed. It looked bigger due to the clean and uncluttered white walls, and sunlight steamed into the room. A pleasure to come to each day. The first floor bar was dark and cozy with a fireplace. Staff were helpful and fun to talk to. Location was close to mass transit and a lot of key sites. Breakfast ($17) was a relative bargain for the quantity of exceptional offerings. Looking forward to staying there again.

No coffee/tea equipment in the room. Adjacent lot was filled with trash and rat traps. Why wasn't more effort made to get it cleaned up?

Great location, room was well equipped, staff were very nice and breakfast included a big buffet of salads and foods almost like for lunch.

The double bed was two single beds pushed together which is normally fine as there's something over the top (like a mattress topper) to fill the gap - but there was still a gap between the two single beds so it wasn't comfortable to lie across, I slept on one single bed instead. Not a deal breaker but FYI. Also wish there was a coffee machine in the room (or at least a Kettle and instant facilities). Again, not a deal breaker and I know it keeps the price down.

Perfect location, excellent service, looks fresh and clean. I booked a comfort room - note that this means the room is more quiet (it was indeed facing the courtyard and only one room nearby, so no commotion), otherwise the room was very small. Breakfast was very good and with decent price (unless you are happy with only a coffee and a pastry/sandwich for breakfast - this you can get cheaper anywhere). As a coeliac, there was plenty to eat and gluten free bread available upon request.

Two suggestions: I wish that 1) there was a kettle in the room, and 2) allergens would be clearly marked at breakfast.

I loved everything about this place! Super-cosy and very tastefully decorated hotel in a quiet street just behind Hackescher Markt. Perfect location, close to nice bars, cafés, restaurants, shops and galleries. The breakfast buffet is absolutely fantastic, and so is the cozy courtyard where breakfast is served (in summer). Great ambiance at the roof top bar as well. Very nice rooms and comfy beds, pillows and duvets. Rental bikes are also available, perfect for exploring Berlin.

There was a peculiar little smell from the drains in the bathroom

The breakfast was always of a good choice . If you had any request the staff would do their best to get it for you. All staff were friendly and welcoming. The lounge/bar was very inviting and lovely to relax in after a long day sightseeing

The lack of a kettle or tea making facility in the bedroom especially when you are diabetic and first thing you require a drink with your medication as tap water from the bathroom is not a hygienic alternative if you have forgotten to purchase a bottle of water to take back to your room.

All "usuals" are great: central location, nice and helpful reception staff (thank you!), very clean room, comfy bed. Very cozy and quite lounge space with a fire place.

As I was travelling for work there were several issues - no proper iron (I received a very weak mini-travel size one with a broken water top), in the evening only a cozy evening light in the room (so it was difficult to iron with that mini-iron:) also, to dark to have a Zoom calls, etc), also no kettle or cups in the room. So mostly the iron and the light thing complicated a situation a bit for me, but otherwise for a holiday stay in Berlin is a perfect choice!

Everything was absolutely lovely. The location is very quiet and accessible to transport, as well as being walkable-even in the frigid winter-to many places, such as Museum Island, Monster Kabinet, and some fantastic eateries in the Mitte neighborhood. Special shout out to Oscar, the night manager, who made us feel incredibly welcome after major flight delays and travel snafus. When we walked in, I was shocked by how big and luxe the room was for how much I had paid and how quiet it was even with trains right next door. My favorite Berlin eaterie is also right next door (Cafe Neudrei), so it was a perfect stay!

The property is in a great location close to Hackescher Markt and the Metro. We were lucky to be upgraded and the room was lovely, comfortable, and spacious. Staff were very friendly and the on site bar was lovely. Would stay here again.

We were located in the side wing, which was a long distance from the reception and entry / exit. No issue for us but could be tricky for elderly people or those with mobility issues, especially with luggage. Also, there weren’t any facilities accessible (gym, sauna, etc.) that are advertised on the website, which was disappointing.
