Holiday Inn Express and Suites Calgary University, an IHG Hotel

The room was large enough to provide comfort for my two week stay. It was clean. The proximity of the hotel to the C Train was excellent, allowing you to be in the centre of the town in minutes. The staff were friendly and willing to help any little need. It was a good hotel, which I've used in the oast and will use again.

Breakfast was a great let down in this hotel by using paper plates and plastic cutlery. The porridge was too often like water and really unfit for consumption. I had breakfast outside a number of times and when in the dining room brought my own plates and cutlery.

I loved being adjacent to the LRT station which made it easy to come and go without any worry about driving or parking. We had a great view of the Calgary skyline. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I didn't hear any noise from other rooms during the whole week we stayed here. The continental breakfast was acceptable but lacking variety after a couple of mornings. Fortunately, there are several good restaurants within a ten minute walk. We enjoyed the pool, waterslide, and hot tub. They appear to use salt for maintenance which felt great on the skin and eyes compared to a pool using sodium hypochlorite. The staff were usually very friendly and helpful.

There are laundry machines in the hotel but I they only accept loonies and on one load and I had to get reception staff to release the coins after the loonies went in but did nothing. On another load of laundry the clothes didn't spin dry enough and there is no spin only option on the washing machine, so I had to put the wet clothes in the dryer three separate 30 plus minute sessions at $2 each to dry them. Fortunately, staff did refund the additional expense but it wasted a lot of my time and energy. The pool, hot tub, and waterslide were okay but a bit small. So there wasn't much room to share with other families.

The location was excellent 5 minutes from downtown , across the street from the C train which was so handy. Right on the junction between the number one and the number one A highways so very easy to get to from out of town when you're driving and get back out of town if you're heading towards the mountains! The staff was more than friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was delicious and the underground parkade was great. If you're coming into town for a sporting event this would be your place to stay!

They have the complete bath supplies such as shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body wash. Plus these were all Dove brand with is good.

We didn’t expect that our room would be on the last floor which is 6th floor, considering we have booked our reservation in advance. With that, the wifi connection is too slow which goes on/off so we end up having to use our personal phone data during our stay. I don’t know if the hotel property should have any thing that they should return with us regarding this.

The breakfast brunch was so impressive! We did not have a huge meal but we found that our portion of meals were “just about so right.” The closed captioned should be left on downstairs in the lounge. I would recommend you to please leave it on all the time. I would appreciate, thank you! I should have came down to the front desk asking for firmness pillows. The pillows in our suite were too soft to sleep. I managed to use a cushion from the chair to sleep. Eh! I will be back to your location soon. Joseph

The front desk staff gave us a very warm and professional welcome. The amenities were very clean. The King bed suite gave us plenty of room to move around and be comfortable. We were on the top floor and it was very quiet. Great restaurants were at a walking distance.

A lot of guests decided to take their breakfast toward the last hour so there was not enough place for everyone. It was hard to find a table, but the food was very decent otherwise.

Location is right next to the c-train, so we were able to hop on it to go the the zoo, which was great. Breakfast was great, lot of variety (bagels, muffins, eggs, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal and juice and coffee). They keep it well stocked and clean. The beds are comfortable. The pool was great, the kids had a great time on the slide and it was heated. We needed to stay an extra night and they were able to accommodate us (we had to move rooms, but they provided us a cot so not a problem). The front desk staff were very polite and helpful.

Although the breakfast was good, the layout of the buffet is too cramped and forces you to stand in a line if it is busy to just grab one item. They need to spread it out more so that you can just go grab what you need without standing in a line (I had to keep coming back as it was lined up out the door and I was not willing to stand in that long of a line, though it was a weekend, so busier).

The breakfast was very good and staff was always cleaning the breakfast area. The bed was comfortable, pillows were great and the bedding was soft, not rough and scratchy. I really appreciated have indoor parking as it was very cold. The proximity to Foothills Medical Center is excellent.

I was disappointed that I booked on line and then found out there was a medical rate if I had called the hotel directly, as we were there for medical reasons at Foothills Medical Centre.

Clean hotel, friendly staff

One morning, there was a fire alarm that woke us up - so everybody evacuated from the hotel and met at the assembly point outside of the building. However, nobody from the hotel staff was there to provide us with information about what has happened and whether it was safe to return to the rooms. People returned to their rooms eventually - BEFORE the fire services could check the building, as no information from the staff was given. This really needs to be improved to prevent customers to re-enter an uncleared building!

I like the location, ver y accesible and easy to find. the staffs are friendly, The room that we got is very accesible to the elevator.

Base on my experience staying with other hotels, they have USB plug in for mobile cellphones and I think that is the only one that's missing. Otherwise We enjoyed our stay.Thank you so much
