Royal Regency Palace Hotel

the facilities were nice and clean

the shower had black mold that could have easily been cleaned off. the Wi-Fi didn’t reach the room so we would have to walk down to the lobby and sit there uncomfortably stay away from room 711 for Wi-Fi connectivity, for reference we have iPhones.

Hotel has a great location and safe area of Rio de Janeiro. Just a few minutes walking for restaurants and also if you are going to go the beach and other tourist attractions. Just a few minutes walking from the hotel you find a park nearby the church who sells tickets to various tourist attractions Like sugar loaf mountains and the Jesus christ statue. They drive a mini van with tourists to this places.

The hotel was lovely. We had a nice, spacious room. It was very convenient for all the attractions. The breakfast was very good, with lots of variety.

There was only one fault I had with the hotel. There were bottles of water left in the fridge every day. They were the only things in the fridge, so we presumed they were complimentary. There was nothing we could see, to say how much they were. When we went to check out, he charged us over €15 for the water we had used. He said the price had been in the room service menu in the room. That was in a drawer, we didn't look at it. If we knew we had to pay for them, we'd have bought our water in the local supermarket for less than a quarter of the price.

The room was clean and comfortable and the shower was great. There wasn’t much natural light but we knew that when booking the room. The breakfast was a decent selection and it runs from 6-10am which was useful if you are heading out early. The location is very close to the metro and lots of shopping and restaurant options. The rooftop pool was small but nice, there were lots of spaces to sit but not much shade. The gym was well equipped.

The plug sockets don’t fit an adaptor and there are no USB sockets, so if you are travelling from abroad it’s a bit difficult.

Breakfast was almost the same menu everyday. You get tired of eating it after the second day. Would prefer more variety in the menu. Room was cleaned everyday and towels were changed too. The whole hotel is very clean. Staff at the reception were very helpful in advising on the tours etc. Hotel is situated in a convenient location. Metro is walking distance Lots of restaurants and shops around the area.

Perfect location! Very close to Lapa, Escadaria Selaron… there’s also a metro station very near the hotel. There’s plenty of shops and restaurants near. Right next to Largo do Machado where you can find some nice souvenirs at the normal price 🥰 Staff was nice and accessible, very prompt to attend to any issues I had!

You can’t take the breakfast upstairs to your room without a cost. The pool area needs an upgrade because it has great potential 🤗 No alcohol served at the hotel.

Our room had a very small window, which gives a bit of a claustrophobic vibe. The only window opens to a area where all the air conditionings are, so it's very noise. Our airconditioner never worked properly. Tried to change the room, but we were told the next option had just the same air-conditioning and the room would be even smaller, so we had to stay. The bar in the pool was never open, and the sauna was never hot enough. They have a light system (like green and red) that shows to the cleaning staff if you want or not to have your room done. Our lights were both on, and of course, we didn't know about it, because anyone explained it to us, and our room was not cleaned on the first and I had myself to talk with the cleaning lady and explain my situation.

The property was in a great location with a ton of restaurants and shops near by. The hotel was also clean with friendly staff. Loved the hotel pool area and rooftop area.

The room that I expected to be in was not as nice as it seemed in the photos. However they were able to accommodate me to a different room although it wasn’t what I ordered

I was first located at a nice room but without outside windows and asked for a change. The hotel offered me a bigger room in a higher floor with a view to the neighborhood, which I really appreciated. The hotel location is excellent, close to the metro station and surrounded by commerce in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. Free Wi-fi is impecable with an excellent internet speed rate.

Breakfast was good but could have more diverse options of fruits and cereal. Sometimes I had to wait for a while for the lifts, but probably this is partly due to Covid restrictions that restrained their capacity.

My second stay here and I’m still happy with the service I get here. Located in trendy Catete away from the tourist hotspots but with a great local vibe. It was close to both beaches and nightlife in Lapa. Modern hotel, well maintained and very clean. Very good breakfast served with lots of different options. Staff is friendly
