Albion Hotel

I feel I stumbled onto a precious gem! We had a last minute detour to Ypres and I booked the Albion because of its proximity to the Menin gate. I can’t say enough about the hospitality of this family run hotel. When I think of our short stay in Ypres I may remember chatting with Daphne at the Albion desk and bar as much as our visit to the Flanders Museum just around the corner! Besides the kindness of the owners, our room was modern but with architectural features that honored the past. The high tech skylight looked up on the steeple of the nearby church. The bar was comfortable with great local beers. And be sure to include breakfast! A spread worthy of the cost. Thank you Daphne and the entire family for your hospitality!

Excellent location just minutes from the market square and all the restaurants. Staff were lovely and always smiling. It was a very quiet hotel, great heating (January visit) but also windows that opened well to air the room. We used the car park, just take a ticket at the barrier and then walk into the back of the hotel. They will add on the carparking charges to your room. Will stay here again when we return to Ypres probably in a couple of years. Buffet breakfast had good choices and the tea and coffee was served by another lovely lady who always asked us how we were. Great customer service all round.

The Albion is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in. It is family run, comfortable and brilliantly located being right in the centre of Ypres with the bonus of an easy to access car park. Our bedroomwas a good size with a good bathroom and a comfortable bed. The breakfast at the hotel was great - a lovely continental with good meat & cheese. The hotel has a friendly well stocked bar. It doesn't have a restaurant but that isn't a problem as there are lots of good restaurants and cafes nearby. If you are planning to visit Ypres and explore the WW1 history in the area I can't recommend the Albion highly enough.

We arrived a little early but the hotel was easy to find and about 5 minutes walk from the main square, the GrosMarkt. The receptionist gave us directions to the hotel car park which was in the street bihind the hotel. very easy to fins and very spacious and clean. when we returned at 2pm our room was ready and we were very pleasantly surprised at how spacious it and the bathroom were. The bathroom was large with a bath and a free standing shower cubicle. Nice quality towels and toiletries.The location could not have been better for visiting the Gros Markt and the Menin Gate. We were given a map of the area and advice about various places we wanted to visit. The breakfast was excellent with cooked as well as continental. They even had apple juice freshly squeezed from local apples. It was plentiful and you served yourself from a delightful buffet in a spacious dining room.

Nothing! the whole place exceeded what we had imagined. I would highly recommend Albion to anyone planning on staying in Ypres.

Great location and easy to find when coming by car with good parking provision. The Menin Gate is just a short walk from the hotel, as is the main square and Ypres Museum and there are plenty of places to eat and drink close by. The hotel does have a nice quiet bar where you can relax with a drink or coffee etc. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and really helpful - it was a very pleasant stay. The room was clean and the bed comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep. We were able to leave our car in the car park after checking out while we went to the Museum. Would definitely stay again.

We were greeted by three accommodating reception staff, who helped us find the parking and checked and explained a few questions we had, it is bright Clean and in a modern style and the breakfast was fresh and well presented, the room was spotless and comfortable, I would definitely stay there again. I would like to add the chambermaid was friendly and took pride in her work.

The only small item was that the shower tray had been damaged and was in need of repair or replacement as it looked slightly unsightly but this is only a minor issue.

The staff on reception and at breakfast were very friendly, helpful and all spoke perfect English. The breakfast buffet was delicious with plenty of choice. Parking was close to the back of the hotel. It is in a great location, on a road just off the main square. Walking distance to the Menin Gate. There were plenty of TV channels available in all languages.

The room was a tiny bit small - if you are a large person or have a lot of luggage it may be a bit tight.

The location was fantastic, and the parking was convenient and secure. It was also great having a reliable lift to use. Breakfast was very good with something to tempt everyone, and our bed was super comfy!

My only issue is having the shower over the bathtub....being short made it a bit tricky for me getting in and out!

We liked everything about the Albion Hotel. The rooms were comfortable and spacious with good fittings, large bathroom and a huge bed. Breakfast each morning, which was included, was splendid and looked forward to each day. The hotel itself was very central, only a few steps to the main square and restaurants, and importantly, it had a secure car park. The staff were exemplary. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. All in all, it was a pleasure to spend time at this hotel and we will have no hesitation in returning.

There were no complaints or issues at all. It was a pleasure to stay at the Albion.

Our welcome when we checked in was amazing. Daphne was very helpful and even gave us a booklet of discount vouchers for various attractions. She took the trouble to remember our names and chatted to us as though we were family guests. The rooms are spotless, lovely comfortable beds and good quality linen. Good shower, easy to use the controls. Buffet breakfast is superb, caters for all tastes and only local produce is used, clearly labelled. Hot dishes like crispy bacon and scrambled eggs, also fresh fuit salad, cereals, bread and pastries from a local bakery. There is a bar where you can sit and relax, trying local bers also wine and cocktails. The car park is at the back of the hotel, off-street and totally secure.

Really there was nothing we didn't like and I would defy anyone to be critical of this little gem.
